A word from Legal Harborside - Floor 1 Restaurant and Market
The first floor hull of Legal Harborside is a nod to Legal Sea Foods’ heritage, a fish market opened in 1950 in Inman Square, Cambridge that expanded in 1968 into a no-frills restaurant where guests sat on picnic tables.

Here you'll enjoy a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist as well as shareable plates, pastas and pizzas made to order in an open kitchen. Choose to eat at one of the picnic tables for an authentic throwback experience or grab a seat at the oyster bar and watch the shuckers at work (up to 14 varieties of oysters are offered daily). Opt instead for the large elliptical bar where both wine and local beers are on tap or request patio seating, along Boston's HarborWalk. Other highlights include a "catch and release" trout pond and a retail market, with a fish monger on site, that offers fresh seafood, takeout and grab and go. Named a “Best New Restaurant” by Esquire, 2011.Continued

  • "We went to the Legal Seafoods Floor 1. Really scenic seats. Hostesses were friendly and sat us even though we were early for our reservation. Service was great and fast. Food was good, but overpriced for what it was. Overall, paying for the atmosphere but it was a fun dining experience."

  • "Santiago out server made this night a fun and resounding success. The food was good and the restaurant is always busy and hectic and festive but the service and the sense of humor from Santiago made it better than any other time we haw been there. Fun times!!"

  • "Had a late lunch with elderly out of town guests. We sat at the windows with a great view of the waterfront. Ordered salmon pizza, calamari and clam chowder and a lobster roll. We all split these which were delicious. Lobster roll was not as tasty as I hoped but still big chunks of meat were good. Dessert chocolate mousse and Boston creme pie. By the end, very satisfied. The servers and staff could not have been nicer and very accommodating. Splitting dishes for us and patience with our guests. Truly enjoyable. Also, Valet parking was the way to go!"

  • "For my brother's 65th birthday we did a Boston oyster bar crawl - starting at the Union Oyster House, then on to Neptune Oyster, and ending up at Legal Harborside for lunch. More oysters and then lunch - end of season Nantucket Bay scallops and first of season wild King Salmon. Neptune edged out Legal on the oysters, but overall Legal was very good. We had a waiter-in-training assisting our server. Usually not a positive for me, but the trainee (from Peru) was doing very well as was affable - so all was fine."

  • "I had a great experience dining at Legal Harborside on 4/8/14. I was meeting a new consultant of mine for the first time-it was her first time in Boston and the team at Legal's gave a great first impression. I will be bringing more people there in the future"

  • "We were in Boston for the weekend & found Legal HS Our waiter Diego-THE BEST! He was well knowledge on the menu items, he knew the specials & made recommendations he also knew the adult beverage menu (I absolutely loved his Boston accent) The cocktails were really good, I have the Legal Sangria really good tasting my husband had an amber beer. The food was REALLY good, best seafood I have had in a long time. Dessert was a Warm s'more bread pudding (a chocolate lovers delight) I was having a difficult time deciding on which dessert so I gave Diego the choice (he made a good one) but he also said if I did not like it he would bring me the other dessert. Every seat has a GREAT view of the harbor. I would highly recommend this restaurant"

  • "we ate on Floor 1 - huge restaurant, incredibly busy for a Thursday night…. our table was close to the windows so we had glimpse of the view. Food was ok…. other Legals are much better. Major complaint was the noise level - very hard to talk at a table for 4… obviously the location draws many tourists… I hope they check out other restaurants so they know they aren't all so commercial feeling. Other Legal locations manage to keep themselves from feeling like a chain - this one doesn't."

  • "I came here for my 22nd birthday and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish! I started on the 3rd floor to have some drinks with friends while we waited for our table (we were early). The service upstairs was amazing and they kept checking on us to make sure we were all set and happy with our drinks! When we got our table they brought us right to the window and were treated with great service! Desserts were to die for and thank you to the servers, chefs, and managers for making my experience unforgettable!"

  • "Legal Harborside is a must-stop if you're looking for seafood. The oysters are phenomenal. I highly recommend the Naked Cowboys (they'll be included in my last meal should I ever be offered one). Order the mussels and ask for extra bread to sop up the sauce. Whatever company you bring with you will be complemented by the great view of the harbor. The cooks are consistent and reliable, the servers are attentive and efficient."

  • "As the title says, I had an excellent time here. Food and service was great and table was ready to go. Only downside is that it was very loud, although understandable for a busy restaurant on a weekend."

  • "Can dress up or dress down. Beautiful views of the harbor. We had a wonderful, lovely, personable waitress. We will return (yearly). We had made reservations and arrived early to have a drink upstairs. In casual conversation with our waitress we mentioned we had always gone to Anthony's Pier 4 when in Boston, and were sad to know they closed. We were visiting the restaurant for the first time. Unbeknown to us she had at some point called downstairs to mention this information. When we summoned for our reservation time, we were greeted by a most charming lady. We were enchanted by her. Our entire evening was made special by everyone with whom we came into contact."

  • "This flagship location of Legal's is my favorite - different menu and vibe from the other "chain" locations. Beautiful design, gorgeous view, and most importantly - delicious food! Make a reservation - especially in the warmer months - as it's usually very crowded."

  • "Legals always has good food. There is a great view of the Harbor. We had a wonderful server. That made up for the front desk in Incompetence. We had a reservation, arrived 10 min early, got a "beeper" and waited and waited. When i went back to the fhostess stand, she was surpfised to me, and didnt have on her screen. No apologies or explanation. She started helping someone else anx just muttered something to her associate who then sat us. Not typical oc Legals, but disappointing nonetheless"

  • "Service was good. Everyone found something on the menu ans enjoyed their food. Good selection of draft beer. 2 kids were well taken care of. Restaurant is very well staffed so service is smooth ans seamless. Excellent choice to brin out of towners to enjoy the view and seafood."

  • "Aside from a mix up at the front desk, the service, while slow at times, was very good and the quality of the food was very high also. Although a lunch reservation the menu was extensive and varied and the seafront view added to the overall experience."

  • "Five of us visited Legal Harborside floor 1 for my daughters birthday. Floor 1 is a casual dining venue. Started w/oysters from raw bar and everyone agreed they were excellent. The various meals were very good to outstanding. The best part of this dining experience was the service. Our waiter(I wish I could remember his name) was both personable and professional. He represented all that a good waiter/waitress should be. The employees here work as a team. Once the order was placed, various people handled the running from kitchen to table, however our waiter was attentive to our table checking in to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Overall great experience"

  • "Great Legal seafood experience as usual. The food and service were very good and the views at this location can't be beat. The Clams and Oysters were fresh and excellent. Main courses were served without any rush even though the restaurant was jumping as usual. We had a great time again and will be back again."

  • "If you haven't tried this particular LEGAL, go! The menu is different from other Legals, innovative and proudly served. The Boston Cream Pie can be split 4 ways! So good. Delightful views of a busy harbor. The haddock in foil with wild mushrooms was cooked perfectly and was a welcome lighter offering, sushi bar .... Outstanding."

  • "Lunch with friends. Everything about the restaurant, the fantastic (service, view, table) - except for what I ordered. I ordered fish tacos. I had had them a few times at a few different restaurants and they were to die for. The wraps were home made and were filled with fish - just fish and the fish was so tasty - perfectly seasoned. I expected something at least similar from Legal's - and was so disappointed. The wraps seemed store bought and there was almost no fish - a lot, a lot of lettuce. My friends seemed very happy with their lunches - They had oysters and grilled fish - I left the restaurant starving and came home and had lunch. Every thing else though was so nice - I'd return, but would not recommend the fish tacos."

  • "I went to Harborside with two of my friends to celebrate a birthday. We were seated by the window with a gorgeous view, which was amazing. The good was great, as always, but I was particularly impressed with how attentive and friendly our server, Alva, was! We noticed she had a couple more tables and even a large party to wait on, but she never forgot about us!"

  • "Our waiter John was wonderful. We had a group of 5 adults, 1 preschooler and a baby, and he did a great job of making sure everyone got everything they needed. Food was great. Birthday dessert for the preschooler was great. But the service was a refreshingly good compared to a lot I've seen recently (not at Legal, but generally). Thanks for a great evening!"

  • "We had 10 people in our party, We were sat within 15 min of our arrival Service was fantastic! Lots of dinner choices, food was $, but worth it! Would go again and I recommend it!"

  • "The atmosphere on the first floor is like a high school cafeteria: noisy and jammed. Clams casino, made with huge, tough clams, were sent back uneaten. (They did take them off the bill.) Main course, fried shrimp, were nothing special. Tasted pre-fried and reheated. Did not stay for dessert; we couldn't wait to leave. Waitress stayed annoyingly close throughout the meal, and we were clearly being hurried through to make room for the next diners. Legel's other locations are fine; however, I will never, ever return to Legal Harborside. By the way, prices on Floor 2 are absolutely out of sight and the menu unappealing. Overall, the evening was a huge disappointment. Clearly, management's goal is volume, volume and more volume."

  • "We were there Saturday night at 8:30. The noise level was much too high, like eating in a bus terminal! Had wonderful crispy scallops that were very good. Somehow though the cole slaw had an off taste, so I did not eat that. The fries were hot and delicious. The only was I would return is in good weather and sit on the deck outside. They must do something about thee noise. I could not speak to my friend in a normal level."
