  • "Another great lunch experience at LB Santana Row; our favorites were the hamburger, salads and the mussels, they were consistently good."

  • "Always a great place for lunch....especially when you can eat outside and catch up on life with a friend. Service was excellent. Attentive but let you be to enjoy your conversation. I need to change my review name to NOT disappointed. :)"

  • "The food is just ok. We ordered grilled bream and sea food stew, not very impressive. Grilled bream is better. Maybe we didn't order right. There were event and some big tables there, which made it very noisy. Not good for people who want to have some personal talk or like to find some romance there. Service is good though."

  • "I've been to Left Bank several times. The food is always excellent. However, last night the service was horrible. There was confusion with our reservation, so we had to wait quite a while for a table. Then we were put way in the back and while our waiter was nice he was NOT attentive. It took forever to get his attention. I will probably give them another try in the future, but if it was like last night then I won't be back."

  • "This was my first time eating at Left Bank . Met a friend there for lunch .We were seated outside and the weather was nice . I ordered the dungeness crab salad and it was delicious! The service was great . The meal was on time . And our waiter was very attentive. We will definitely be back for lunch . I live in Serrano so its very convenient ."

  • "I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years already and every time I have a great experience. The food is good and the service has always been outstanding. Jennifer our waitress was great!. We had 2 kids and she did everything she could to accommodate any needs and she was very efficient and fast considering we were a party of 7."

  • "I booked my wife's 60th B-day dinner here after having a wonderful Dinner a couple of weeks ago. The whole night seemed like we went to a different place. I ordered the same dinner I had before because it was so good. This time the"Medium Rare lamb" was like eating jerky, dry and hard. It seemed like it was leftover from the night before and reheated. I was going to send it back , but it took forever for the waitress to check back with us on "How is everything?", so I just ate it in frustration. My wife also ordered the same "Free Range chicken" Also DRY! I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED this time. Worst of all it happened on what was supposed to be a special night for my wife!"

  • "This is a great place for sidewalk dining. If more umbrellas could be arranged to provide more shade on hot, sunny days, it would be even better!"

  • "I have loved Left bank for years, but it seems as if they are now riding on their popularity and not providing the high quality they used to. We went for a birthday dinner, and our service was extremely slow (and cranky). Drinks and bread took forever, though we ordered an appetizer that required bread to be eaten. There were absolutely no veg. options; we could ask for the 2 pasta dishes without bacon. That's it. And the price of the entrees has not gone down, but they have lost their sides. One of us ordered trout ($30), and it was literally a piece of fish with a few pieces of diced tomato on top. No veggies. Most entrees that used to come with delicious veggies now come with just fries. Sadly, we won't be going back."

  • "I hosted some business associates for a casual dinner. Although the restaurant was lively, we had no trouble conversing. We had to wait 10 minutes for initial service and told our server we thought she had forgotten us. After that she provided outstanding service."

  • "The lamb was hard even though the waiter kept recommending it by saying it's rele tender etc. it's dried and hard. The appetizer was ok. That's why I don't recommend the food. The ambience is good. Waiter very friendly although I don't know how much I can trust the recommendation after trying the lamb."

  • "It was Monday eve meaning not busy compares to weekend BUT service was so slow, extremely slow for whatever reason. Our reservation was 6:45, it got there at 6:25 to tell them we are now 14 guests instead of 10. The restaurant was pretty empty but they didn't have our table ready until 7:00. Unacceptable! Then the overall service is horribly slow, from taking orders to bringing them out. The bread baskets are embarrassing, each tiny basket consists of 2, 3 if lucky, small pieces of bread, cold and hard to chew. Never seen any restaurants serving bread in such small basket let alone just a very few bread pieces lost in the bottom of baskets! I feel so ashamed treating our family n friends, some from out of town n have never been there!"

  • "I brought out-of-town colleagues here for dinner. We sat outside and had a nice view of the SR scene. Cameron provided excellent service, as did wait support staff."

  • "Best in town French restaurant that is kid-friendly, accessible, and affordable. Feel like a special dinner, then I just pull my phone to openTable, find the time to book a table for 4. I mention 2 kids there then they bring kids menu. We like the bordeaux wine by glass and the authentic French foods. The portion is not super large which is actually good. I like trout, skirt steaks, and other sides like truffled fries."

  • "I don't know where they buy their oysters, but mine were very Laiteuses, sorry I don't know how to say this in English, and it took them over 30 mn to bring them to our table! The Caille was half cooked, and no taste. The rest was ok. Our server was very nice, I don't remember her name."

  • "We went to celebrate our birthdays, and have our annual Steak Frites. The new additions to the menu where so exciting, we split the Steak Frites and ordered 2 other entrees! Walked out of there stuffed, but totally happy! From the new mozzarella salad to the Peach Melba (!), the dinner was perfect! Which I could afford to eat here (calories and $$$) every week. Max, our waiter, made it such a wonderful delight!"

  • "I think it's a new menu but a not very exciting one. The $19 trout was just a piece of fish on the plate. No sides, no rice or anything. Disappointing."

  • "Left Bank offers a small brunch menu in addition to their always satisfying lunch menu. The omlet I had was perfectly done with a nice mix of herbs and a satisfying portion of potatoes. At the table next to me, a gentleman had a dish that looked like french toast and he nearly picked up the plate and licked it clean! If you are looking for an extensive brunch menu, you may be disappointed, but if you are dining with a mixed group - some who want breakfast, some who want lunch, Left Bank is a good choice at Santana Row."

  • "We can count on giving our visiting friends a well designed French menu in an attractive setting. Service generally contributes to having a good time without being unnecessarily intrusive. The walk around Santana Row after lunch is a nice touch. Someone usually will buy something that they haven't seen elsewhere."

  • "We had Fathers Day/Birthday dinner at Left Bank. We sat outside, but it was getting breezy and no one asked us if we wanted a heat lamp and finally had to ask. It was noisy, the service very spotty. We asked our waiter twice for bread, and he finally asked a busboy and then said "Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't, and if they don't then we don't share our tips." That's great to tell a customer that. I had a lousy birthday drink that took forever to arrive. We had good carrot soup, my mother and I had pretty good almond trout, father enjoyed the sausage he had, but what a ruckus atmosphere, and I wished I were elsewhere! The dessert was a bad take on affogato, with thick cream. We got the wrong check and a look when he saw his tip."

  • "We had a great Father's Day, the selection was excellent, the food was well prepared and succulent. The service was good, a little slow towards the end. The ambience was very good, a pleasant view of Santana Row and passing pedestrians and pooches."

  • "A great brunch for our party of 6. Service was great, food was terrific, most notably the salmon and potatoe hash. It is a bit loud and makes conversation a bit harder."

  • "Stopped in after late shopping. Dependable as always! Everyone enjoyed their late dinner and desserts. They fought over the chocolate cake and sorbet :) Great server too! Yum!"

  • "We were party of 2 at dinner, and was given a table by the side door (that goes to the patio). They left the door propped wide open b/c they were serving tables outside. We were very cold and asked multiple times to keep the door closed or move us to another table. They said no other tables available. They closed the door for us once, and within minutes, it was propped open again because another waiter walked thru. After several iterations of this, we gave up. Our waitress didn't bother to communicate this to the other staff nor did she try to keep the door closed herself. Took forever for her to bring us the bill, then 20 mins more to collect the bill+credit card, then another 20 mins to bring it back to us for signature."

  • "One of the guests in our party ordered the steak special and asked for it to be cooked medium rare... it came out well-done so they took away and prepared again for her and again it came out well-done. It was good but just wasn't what she wanted. All the other entrees that we ordered were very good."

  • "I've been here a couple times now and the quality of the food is amazing. The menu is simple and reasonably priced for Santana Row. It's wonderful if you can sit outside and people watch while you sip a glass of wine, eat and chat with friends."

  • "Closest thing to a traditional French cafe in the South Bay. The fondue was an amazing appetizer and the fraises (strawberries) as dessert blew my mind. A little too noisy in the bar. Not very fancy, but delicious and good ambiance."

  • "Usually love this restaurant, but was slightly disappointed at our last visit. Escargot, which should be incredibly garlicky were absolutely bland. Yuck. My ravioli dish was also bland....two other diners ordered the steak, which was good, as was the trout and the sausage. Freshly baked bread was delicious, served with butter and black salt. Our bottle of Beaujolais was light and delicious. Service was not quite as attentive as I would have liked - there was no salt on the table, and my food definitely needed it, but the server was nowhere to be seen. "

  • "For a restaurant in that price range one expects a clean set of silverware for the entree. Outside tables indeed look nice and maybe the experience would have been more enjoyable; at least quieter. The noise level inside is pretty high. Definitely not the place to go if you are in a hurry; sometimes it's difficult to get your waiter to your table."

  • "This has been one of my favorite restaurants and I love their cheese fondue. Usually we have great service but during our last visit our server seemed to have disappeared. I do believe this was an anomaly and I would encourage anyone to try Left Bank for the food and hopefully they'll get the service we usually receive. I had the chicken and my friend, who tried it, said the peas were the best she's ever tasted. Most of our party had the steak and french fries (you can't go wrong) and everyone's meal was cooked perfectly. Their location on Santana Row makes it a wonderful experience so be sure to allow yourself extra time to stroll down the streets."

  • "Left Bank Santana Row used to e one of my favorites. Having not been there for a while, I was surprised at the changes. The quality of the food was down and the prices were up, even allowing for lapsed time. Table service was perfunctory, and we had to ask for the dessert menu. The host/hostess service was the only aspect that was still very good. I will not return, at least not for a long time."

  • "We were a party of five and each dish was bland and totally disappointing. It's a nice venue but the kitchen just isn't up to the hype. "
    Dined on 5/27/2014
  • "While we enjoy the food and the outdoor seating, we continue to be perplexed by the hostess "experience." I know of no other restaurant in the Bay Area that makes guests with reservations wait for 10-15 mins, even when the table is already prepared! Between seatings, the hostess and host would chat away as if waiting for some hidden timer to expire before they could seat the next party. Food was well-prepared, wines by the carafe are frequently changed for variety, service friendly and efficient."
