We dined with several foodie friends and Left Bank delivered fabulously. We enjoyed the Socca with calamari, pickled beef tongue salad, beet salad. We started with a very reasonably priced $64 Laurent Perrier. For entrees, the sole and filet were outstanding. For dessert, the tarte tatin is a must. Service was friendly, professional and crisp. The restaurant was rocking with fabulous energy in the bar area celebrating black Wednesday. Great times and a great dinner. Thank you. We will be back soon.

Not being a big fan of French food, I appreciate the Left Bank as a place I can have a conversation with dinner companions without having to yell! The food is good, although a little spendy. And the service is friendly and efficient. It's conveniently located in my neighborhood, and I'll continue to enjoy meals there with friends.

Our party of 5 arrived just before 11:30 and the hostess was fairly short with us -- telling us they weren't ready and we needed to wait outside. No good morning, no thanks for coming. We talked about leaving and going to another place across the street but couldn't' be bothered. Just FYI.

The menu is consistently strong and was just updated in October with new dishes. The list of wines by the glass are unusually good, including four champagnes, and the list is even better by the bottle. Charcuterie is not to be missed, particularly the rillette, and their handling of mussels and of steak frites is terrific. The restaurant is noisy though, particularly for lunch, and uncomfortably laid out: noise, proximity to other diners and their conversations, and line of sight to the sports television playing constantly at the bar are all problems for Left Bank. Hint: I take my glasses off during lunch to avoid the visual distractions and focus on my partner.

We ate here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. For lunch, my wife had the fondue au fromage -- very good, with vegies to dip; I had the croque d'agneau, also very good. Our dinner included the fromage au fondue -- again good -- and the duck sausage (OK, not memorable). The cafe americanos were VERY good, as was the creme brulee. Onion soup was good, too. Obviously we did not eat these in the order in which I've listed them.

Although our group has enjoyed this restaurant in the past, our experience this time was not up to par. A huge group was in the back room which delayed the service at our table in the main dining room. We finally did get served, but the delays were unacceptable. At least we had a good time talking and enjoying our group while waiting for drinks, appetizers and entrees. The onion soup is excellent, with plenty of onions and cheese. The Croque Monsieur was not the true French version and has a bit too much cheese melted over it (a complaint of two people in our group of 5). The Salade Nicoise is excellent as are many other dishes. Still would recommend this long-time favorite place in Marin.

We have been going to the Left Bank for years without any complaints. On Saturday night the food and service were a bit off. Worst iceberg lettuce salad I have every had or seen. The waitress agreed and took it off the bill. Mussels were outstanding! I think the server was a bit off too as I asked her several times to bring vinaigrette dressing instead of blue cheese and she got it wrong. She also didn't split the salad which also was something that is usually done when asked. I think just an off night but very unlike the Left Bank!

A friend and I met for Sat. brunch--wanted a restaurant where we could have good food and leisurely linger. They have a special brunch menu or you can select from their regular menu. We had the eggs benedict--absolutely perfect--comes with strawberries and small salad. We had a glass of Crémant de Limoux rosé which enhanced the overall experience. Service was attentive and friendly.

Seated promptly and had great artisanal cocktails, especially Parisian favorites. Had side dish of gnocchi that were light and fluffy, then went to my go to dish- leg of lamb sandwich with olive tapenade served with perfectly dressed arugula. Nice selection of wine by the glass/bottle. Others had traditional onion soup and salad Nicoise latter of which rivaled those we had in Nice! Great outdoor seating for that nice day or if your dog must be at your side. Nice strong coffee and we were too full for profiteroles, crisps. Great brunch or lunch spot also.

We returned to Left Bank after a hiatus and felt somewhat disappointed. True, it was a World Series night, so the noise level was probably higher than usual. But the menu disappointed us. We enjoy good food and usually eat our own cooking at home. Since we had just had an Italian chicken dish, the Coq au Vin special didn't interest us. We ended up having soup and appetizer each: too-sweet sausage for me, small-portion herring for my husband. Those four appetizers plus one glass of wine ended up costing $64. We dine out rarely so I don't know if this is high--it seems like a lot for what we had. Bread basket was not replenished. Tables are close together. I didn't realize how loud they were until the table next to us left.

We love this place on the charming main street of little Larkspur & took 2 friends recently for their first time. We have all eaten in France a lot and all of us thought the food here was excellent. Coq au vin had the richly flavored sauce I always hope for; pork shank was excellent; fish cooked perfectly. Indoors it's pretty noisy & hard to converse especially if anyone is hearing impaired, but outdoors is much quieter & the heat lamps are good.

My husband and I have coming to Left Bank for years. One of our favorite meals was the hamburger and fries. We would tell our friends that this was the best place to get something most people take for granted. So this last Sunday we took our friend there between movies for the Mill Valley Film Festival for her birthday and based on our glowing recommendation we all ordered the hamburger and fries. The fries didn't have the same taste, they weren't crisp and were very ordinary. The burger was juicy but the bun was hard on the top like it was stale. We had to repeatedly ask for condiments. I will no longer be telling my friends that the place to get the best burger in Marin is Left Bank.

We ate outside (a few tables right on sidewalk, but Larkspur is a relatively quiet town) on a warm October evening. The duck with cassis was good, as was the wine. I usually order the french onion soup or the salade verte, both of which are very good. The service was a little off this night in some respects -- my husband had to ask three times for his diet coke, but usually the service is excellent and we eat here often.

We ordered the tomato soup and the appetizer fondue. The tomato soup shouted TOMATO; the fondue shouted BLUE CHEESE. My wife ordered the ravioli, which shouted SAUCE. There is an important difference between hardy flavors and overbearing flavors; these were overbearing... very overbearing. They offered no subtleties in flavor and blasted out all accompanying flavors. This is particularly problematic for a fine French restaurant experience. We also ordered trout and quail each of which was very good and did not suffer the same problem. Finally we shared a peach Melba dessert which was wonderful.

We came here after a long day in SF. It was very quiet around 5 pm. We were seated quickly and the waitress was very attentive (very sweet to our two year old). I liked my dry pomegranate soda, myou daughter had a "Charolette" Temple and loved her special drink. Flatbread with goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes was good. The French onion soup was pretty good but not the best I have had. I had a lamb stew which was tender but the sauce to me didn't have much flavor. My wife had their steak with a red wine sauce and I thought the sauce was very good on it. We might come back in another season to see how the menu is
