Diner Reviews
  • "Restaurant full which makes sense as every morsel of food was amazing not cheapened as summerlicious menus often are."

  • "As always, Susur Lee's food was incredible and the service amazing. The food is like nothing I could cook at home - exactly what dining out should be!"

  • "Another great food experience by Master Chef, Susur Lee. The signature slaw was just the beginning of this food adventure. A fabulous place for getting together and sharing the food and memories with friends."

  • "We have dined here at Lee several times the food and service is always excellent. You pay a little more for your meal and the prices for the wines are a little crazy but the dining experience is worth it....and there is always a new flavour experience!"

  • " Everything was good. The only downfall was our server. Was tempted to ask to move to a different station."

  • "This was a very special first day dinner of the S2014. Having followed Susur Lee in Toronto right from the beginning I could not miss since I am going to Paris today. Food was top class service by Olivia was outstanding particularly her selection of the Sake and the Martini coffee. Hope to go again."

  • "My girlfriend and I both enjoyed the mussels but the signature Singapore Slaw was mind blowing with 19 different elements it had to one of the best dishes we've had the pleasure of eatting. Also the services was excellent not to over bearing but still attentive"

  • "Even after all these years, the food is amazing! My favourite place while travelling to Toronto. Never tire of it!"

  • "Second time here. Made sure to dine here for our Toronto holiday"

  • "This was my first time at Lee! Really Good. The salada with 19 ingredients was delicious. For 3 people choose 3 option plus a dessert and you will be fine. It's pricy but worth every bite! The service is good, however our server was not that good. I will be back next time to taste other courses."

  • "Four guests shared a variety of dishes, all of which were truly excellent. The slaw (of course) to start followed by caramelized cod that was stunningly well prepared, an unusual but delicious poached lobster dish served in cocktail glasses (extra to menu) and simply amazing green curry. We followed with a couple of desserts (peanut chocolate and rhubarb tart). Susur visited the adjacent table and we were able to personally pass on our satisfaction. This was second visit and both were outstanding. Made our lifetime top 5. Our California guests were very impressed."

  • "Don't miss the signature salad made with 19 ingredients or the lobster ravioli. My only issue with the restaurant was the noise level...we could barely hear each other, but mostly we were expressing delight with the wonderful food that was served with expert timing. Our table of 5 shared 8 or 9 dishes (and they brought out 5 portions when they would normally serve only 4) and they were served one at a time. We didn't have long waits between the dishes."

  • "The service was amazing at Lee, all servers helping at all tables. And eh food was to die for, as expected. Susur really knows how to build a restaurant and change with the times."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Waiter kept pouring water without or knowledge for a grand total of 5 bottles at 56.00!!! The waiter was robotic. Every line rehearsed. We felt rushed, we felt cheated."

  • "This was just a random destination chosen off Yelp or some other app upon arriving in Toronto. It was a real winner and lived up to favourable reviews. Three of us shared five dishes and we were well fed but nothing left. The signature slaw dish was outstanding. The only negative was the bizarre bar tending they seem to follow. First time I have ever been told anywhere in the world that a single martini is three ounces (it's not). Server came back with some attitude to enquire if I really wanted my six ounce 'double' martini. I politely clarified that I wanted a normal three ounce double gin martini and all was sorted. Service was not fast shall we say. I would definitely go back for the food."

  • "excellent restaurant- loved the ambience, food, and staff!!"

  • "Bustling hip vibe of this place and it was packed when we went. Felt oh so trendy. Loved the sangria rose and the strawberry beet salad. Then ordered the black cod and thai curry - menu favourites apparently - and they were only ok. Just didn't hit my palate the way I was expecting I guess! Have been but not sure I would go again."

  • "I have been here several months ago and gave them a rave review..quality,service,presentation all have reduced since then.Prices have not however!. Dinner for 4 was over $600.00 with tip. Pretty excessive considering almost every dish for vegetarian was a deep fried. There was a RUSHED atmosphere where the waiter hurried us through. The DJ was extremely loud and difficult to talk through (they are forgetting people are going to a high priced restaurant to talk with the people who came with them, not to listen to an unknown DJ.)I wanted earlier reservations as wanted to dine earlier, however could not get a table. When I got there, there was MANY tables available. So confirmed guest is not as important as a "possible walk in". I wont return."

  • "Food was obviously really good. Our waiter (mark) was perfect. Right on top if things from beginning to end which really helped make our dining experience even better."

  • "Excellent food. Service was very friendly and informative. A little strange having 4 or 5 different people serving you. Ambience is cool but room is quite loud. Only annoying thing was being being sat next to DJ booth. Although the music was great, it got quite busy with people constantly hanging around."

  • "Had dinner at Lee again. Updated menu, but my fav's were still there. I talked a girlfriend into going and I said I needed a coleslaw fix. She said we can go anywhere for that. I looked at her horrified and told her their slaw was like a party in your mouth. They did not disappoint. Every dish that comes out is like art and the flavors are incredible. We had a great evening with amazing service. Thanks and will be back soon!"

  • "The food was outstanding but the service was so rushed, we did not have time to truly savour the food. We had an early reservation (it is very busy and difficult to get a later reservation), and we were seated, told the best way to experience the food was through the sampler menu (we were a group of 7 - but one came in a little later), and before our drinks even arrived, we had 3 courses brought to the table. We said please slow down, one of our guests hasn't arrived yet (he was 15 minutes late), but the dishes kept coming. I know they want to maximize the sittings, but I've never felt so rushed over dinner. We were done in under an hour and a half and were disappointed as it was a birthday dinner and thought it would be more relaxing."

  • "The food was very flavourful Nicely presented The servers were friendly Overall very good experience Would definitely return"

  • "The food is unique and tasty but it was served too quickly to adequately savor each dish. Slower service would have made the experience that much better "

  • "The restaurant came highly recommended from a co-worker. Overall I found the food average (aside from their signature Singaporean-style slaw). We were seated in the patio area which was very dusty (it was probably due to the windy weather that evening), and we were constantly fishing out small bugs and small leaves falling in our drink - ugh!! We ordered the Singaporean-style slaw (fabulous!!), Caramelized Black Cod (too fishy and the turnip cake was too mushy) and Yucatan Sweet Corn Lettuce Wrap (so and so). Next time I think I would just order the Singaporean-style slaw as a meal on its own with sashimi of salmon or tuna. Service was fast and servers were great though!"

  • "Singapore slaw is must have, didn't like the top chef curry chicken. Overall food is terrific, they do rush you though and tables too close togethere."

  • "I always seek out Chef Lee's restaurants and this one doesn't disappoint. The slaw is great and the mains terrific with yummy drinks. Perfect!"

  • "I go to Lee's often. Can't seem to get enough of his Pekin duck. Wish he would bring back the dumplings and turn the music down just a touch. Our waiter this time was aloof and spent a great deal of time trying to get his attention. All other times the service was good and the food is always great."

  • "Food creative and delicious. Service excellent. The signature slaw and the black cod superb. The timing of the service, however, is off. You are given a two hour table on a Saturday evening, and they recommend three dishes excluding dessert for two people. While they arrived separately at our request, all three were served within about 50 minutes, the second two served before we finished the previous dish. Other diners next to us experienced this as well. The tables are small, so two serving plates crowds you. With food this good and two hours in hand, the courses should be properly timed to allow you to savour each in turn without feeling rushed."

  • "Loved dining at Lee restaurant! The food was delicious, especially the Singapore Slaw, it is a beautiful dish which is to die for. We had a chance to meet with Susur Lee, he is a talented and friendly person. Definitely recommend a trip to any of his restaurants, you won't regret it. It's truly an experience. "

  • "We ordered 4 dishes(and one dessert) between 2 of us and it was plenty! We had the slaw, beef tacos, green curry chicken and the black cod. Everything was delicious! No complaints about the food. We would go back in a heartbeat, but with more people so we could try more dishes! One tiny complaint was that the wine by the glass (for $15) was really stingy. That really annoyed us- maybe a 4 oz pour at most but the food made up for it. Maybe they pour so little thinking you will order more. "

  • "My wife and I went to Lee to celebrate my birthday. When we go out for a special dinner, we want something that we can't make at home and Lee certainly fit the bill. The hardest part was deciding what to have as everything looked wonderful. Their Singaporean-style slaw with it's 20 ingredients is something that we could never make and is a symphony of flavours. It's a "must have" when you eat here. Their braised beef tacos appetiser was superb. For our mains, we shared the caramelized black cod which was delicate & delicious and the jerk spicy pork ribs, with a scotch bonnet sauce & mango which perfectly balanced sweet and hot. Dessert was a chocolate cake with lemon sour cream ice cream & blueberry sauce. A truly extraordinary dinner. "

  • "Lee was an unrefined disappointment, reminiscent of The Keg in the sense that it's loud, obnoxious and uncomfortable. It didn't feel like a special dining experience, the staff was frigid and really didn't add anything, I was offended that our waitress brought me two full glasses of wine without allowing me to try first or see the bottle. Thankfully the restaurant's one redeeming quality is the food, which was quite exceptional."

  • "I was hosting our vendor in from Los Angeles for dinner. And whenever I'm looking for a great food experience for dinner 'dates', I've always taken people to Lee. And the Californians had a wonderful time. Fave dish of the night was the slaw (my personal favourite). And the homemade marshmellow etc dessert plus the dumpling dessert were hits as well. I will continue to come back here."

  • "I was finally able to dine at Lee after having it on my "to do" list for many years. it did not disappoint and more than lived up to its reputation. Each course was exceptional, from their signature Singapore Slaw, the scallop appetizer, rack of lamb and creme brule. Many of these dishes are standard fare at fine dining restaurants but they managed to elevate each dish with unique flavours and creative presentation. The service was attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. I'll be back again soon. "
