Leatherby's Cafe RougeWe love to dine here beforeWe love to dine here before a performance, and the food is usually very good. Free corkage too ! But make sure you ask for Ramone. He is a delightful waiter. We had a terrible waiter this last time. He made us feel like we had dropped by unannounced and demanded dinner from a surly relative. To their credit, management has promised to make it right on our next visit.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMcozy timely pre-concert perfectionComfortable, well-lighted, warm, and wonderful food. Thomas Jefferson would love to dine here because it enhances good conversation, brings the outdoors into the ambiance, and most importantly, rewards you with outstanding flavors that you remember.
The service was excellent yet un-intrusive, the menu was remarkable in its breadth but still focused, and the chef's creation of stimulating flavors was at the highest level of imagination. If the chairs were cushioned, I would make it 5 stars.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect pre theater diningWe were a little late for our reservation but the waitstaff advised us on meal selection in order that we not miss our show. These guys were as good as the food. We split the steak and salmon (we will be back for the same) and walked into our show hearing the 5 minute bell. Great night made possible by Leatherby's cafe Rouge.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated in the same buildingLocated in the same building as the Renee & Henry Segerstrom concert hall, Leatherby's is an ideal place to enjoy excellent food in a comfortable and quiet setting either before or after a concert. The food is top drawer and the presentations are exquisite, while the service is nicely attentive but not intrusive. We heartily recommend it.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and amazingGreat service and amazing food! Loved the chef tasting menu with wine pairings!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat people and great foodThis was my first time at the Café Rouge. Everyone working there that I contacted- waitress, bus person, host and hostess, phone reservationist- could not have been more personable, professional, or helpful. I sampled four different dishes, a dessert and five different wines. Flawless. I had had a disappointing day to end my week and this welcoming and bright place elevated the evening almost as much as the Duke Ellington Orchestra concert did later. A lovely restaurant in every way.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFlashdance - The Musical May 16thWe had the 3 course prix-fixe Flashdance menu ($61 with wine pairings; $40 without) Appetizer: "Up in Smoke" Smoked salmon, smoked quail egg, smoked potato, onion relish, crème fraiche, pumpernickel. Main Course: I had the "Working Man’s Orchestra" of Braised beef short ribs, mushroom risotto, fava beans, truffle jus. My date had "What a Feeling" a squid ink pasta, octopus affogato, laughing bird shrimp, capers, olives, fresno chiles. Desserts: "I Love Rock and Roll" - Baked Alaska, raspberry sorbet, balsamic meringue, coriander and mint syrup, pop rocks. "Maniac" - Peanut butter, Nutella, marshmallow, banana and brioche sandwich, with chocolate sauce. 2 minute walk to the theater; less than a minute to the concert hall. Valet parking-$10.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience ......Excellent experience ...... Certainly will return.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a special evening.Always a special evening. My steak a little overdone, but they fixed it and made up for the trouble. Thank you!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable Service, delectable foodVisited this restaurant before organ symphony concert. The hamachi spring roll had a wonderful balance of flavors with just the right acidity and hint of wasabi. The carrot soup was amazing. The pork tenderloin was tender and sauced to perfection. The sorbet perfectly finished the meal. Ramon, our server was way above expectations. When I mentioned it was our anniversary, when our desert came out there was an extra plate with a chocolate desert and happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. Will definitely return.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice for convenient per-concertNice for convenient per-concert dining. Service has improved! Waiter was friendly and helpful.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it! The service is geared to the start of the performance. The revers are attentive and knowledgeable.
One feature I like is the absence of a corkage charge. We have favorite wines and it is nice to be able to have them with our meal.
We will be returning to Leatherbys.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat at Leatherby's CafeWe eat at Leatherby's Cafe Rouge prior to every symphony that we attend. The service is always excellent, the staff is very polite and prompt, and all of our needs are met promptly. The atmosphere is always excellent also. On this particular evening my husband and I order the Loup. The fish and side dishes were prepared perfectly and were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the dessert selections of apple crumble tart and sorbet. Our only complaint is that we wish that the entrees were somewhat larger, as they are quite small.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a fantastic restaurantWhat a fantastic restaurant to visit when you are going to a Pacific Symphony concert or another presentation. Located in the Segerstrom Center for the Arts it is totally convenient. You park the car or valet it and there is the restaurant and two beautiful halls for the presentation you are attending. Loved the pre-fix menu with the Wicked theme, however, the cute cupcake desserts had no taste and appeared to have sat in the fridge for a few days. But loved the idea of them. Fresh made would be hard to do but would have tasted better. Our waiter was superb.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service from veryExcellent service from very knowledgeable waiters. The service was impeccably superb and friendly, and being so close to the event and valet parking is extremely convenient. I'd do it again, and again, and again.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing and theThe food was amazing and the ambiance was modern contemporary and serene. It was very welcoming and relaxing.
