Leaf Café and BarGreat Locals RestaurantWe have eaten at Leaf several times during visits to Charleston. The food is always consistently good as well as the service. We enjoy the fact that it is removed from the East Bay tourist scene. The outdoor patio is a treat when the weather permits having lunch or dinner there.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent casual spotThe pimento/bacon burger and the meat and cheese board where stand outs on the menu. Went with the house merlot and it was very nice for its price point4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDevineDevine!! Took friends from out of town and was very impressed! Perfect girls' night out. The food was fabulous, our server was excellent. I am still craving more bread pudding--yummy!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were not very adventurousWe were not very adventurous with our food choices but what we tried (asparagus with fried egg; roasted tomato bisque; crab cakes) were excellent. On an early Sunday night the bar was full (watching the Masters), the patio empty due to rain, and the
dining room nearly empty. This, and the fact that our waiter cautioned us about dessert, as they were "between pastry chefs", lessened our experience. However, the service was excellent and the room quiet, both of which we appreciated. We also appreciated the incredibly reasonable prices, compared to other Charleston places we tried.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent location and veryExcellent location and very nice outdoor dining area. Drinks are a bit pricey, but the food is very good, and reasonably priced.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch dining outsideGreat brunch dining outside on a beautiful Sunday morning in Charleston, SC.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite placesOne of my favorite places for lunch and brunch! The best omlette in town.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden GemIf you want to avoid the crowds of people on East Bay Street and still enjoy a good meal, try Leaf. This restaurant is definitely more of a locals place so you can avoid the tourist traffic. It offers a large bar area, great patio, and indoor tables that overlook the patio. We have eaten there several times and the food has been consistently good.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant withBeautiful restaurant with open airy feeling yet comfortable. Great food, reasonably priced and the owners are friendly and welcoming.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA great location, free parking,A great location, free parking, and excellent food. Very tasty selections and great service4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely restaurant.Bright with lots of windows & glass doors opening onto a great patio. I ordered salmon not realizing it would be smoked (even though it said it on the menu) & they replaced it with another entree of my choice with no problem or charge. The food was very good, although not outstanding. The atmosphere was the highlight for me.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe choice of background musicThe choice of background music and the jeans the waitstaff wore were obvious attempts to keep a casual vibe for what could easily be a very elegant venu. The menu was terrific and the quality of the dish was impressive. Very generous portions! We'll definitely be returning.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe grilled Caesar Salad andThe grilled Caesar Salad and 3-Cheese appetizer were great starters. Also, a new Sauvignon Blanc (at least to us) called Shooting Star was very good and reasonably priced. I had the Shrimp Risoto special and my wife had Fish And Chips. Both were excellent. Finally, for desert, I had bread pudding with ice cream. It was a very fitting conclusion.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time for brunch. Our first time for brunch. Sat outside. Excellent. Will return.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place! The food is terrific, the service friendly and quick; Leaf is a great find!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst of all the service wasFirst of all the service was amazing!! She was friendly, recommended dishes and had zero issues splitting up our bill for our large party. Secondly the food was outstanding. The fresh catch of the day was my choice and it was absolutely delicious! The truffle fries were also a huge hit! If I'm ever visiting again I will definitely make an effort to dine there again!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLeaf is a great new spot forLeaf is a great new spot for Charleston. Dinner was great. Fish was nicely cooked and my counterpart loved the meatloaf.
The outdoor area will be a great asset in the upcoming months.
Leaf needs to work on their dessert menu...only one choice the night I went and the dessert was bland and an odd texture (berry custard/flan...thing?).3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent casual dining optionLeaf is located on the quiet end of Market Street, away from the tourist crush. We found it to be a delightful spot for casual dining. The dining room is bright and airy, with the tables adequately spaced. The menu offers a nice range of options. I started with the grilled Caesar salad, with the romaine singed just enough to impart a grilled flavor. My wife raved about her moist, perfectly prepared grilled chicken. An ample potion served with whipped potatoes and a vegetable, it was an excellent value for the price. My salmon was grilled medium rare, as ordered, and served with sauted spinach that complemented it nicely. Service was prompt and polite.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly, have fallen in loveTruly, have fallen in love with Leaf. We will be back... Often. Leaf is on my short list of favorite Charleston restaurants!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
