  • "Celebrated a birthday party here. Really friendly waiting staff. We thought the wine list looked a little limited so we brought our own with no pushing to try their wine. We eventually tried the Margaux too. The real star was the food, the frites & foie were delicious, with the perfect bite of crisp crunch exterior and fluffy interior. We coming back for the moules creme de madere which were just stunning and the steak frites and steak tartare were very good too."

  • "We live very close to Le Zinc and it has become out local favorite. Monday's there is no corkage or half price wine, and there are free mussels on Wednesdays. The frites are the best in town. It is nice and quiet, unlike many popular restaurants so good for talking. Good service and a nice bar area for casual dining."

  • "...which I'm not particularly keen on. Foie gras seemed to be featured in 1/2 of the menu items, but it didn't take long to find something else to order. Food was well prepared and service was great, but the experience wasn't quite worth the hefty check at the end of dinner. The quality of the their cocktails and wine almost makes up for the cost."

  • "Le Zinc was a great night out with my husband and son! Frites with foi gras, mussels, the vege polenta dish and a great steak were all parts of a delicious meal. A fabulous huge baguette with housemade butter to start! Then cake and almond/coconut ice cream. Champagne.....ginger beer for my son. Our waiter Parris walked us through all of the decisions and they were fantastic. The ambience there is great and all the customers seemed relaxed and happy. "

  • "Relatively new to Capitol Hill, this restaurant is awesome. We started with the Salade Verte, which was reminiscent of a green salad one might find in Paris. Light on dressing but especially flavorful. We then went on to Moules Frites, which is their specialty. One can select from 3 different choices of flavorful sauces/broths. The mussels were from Penn Cove and they were sweet, tender and flavorful. Frites were crisp and small, to our liking, and served with a perfect dipping sauce. This place will become a regular spot for us, particularly when hosting friends who love mussels. One last comment: if you are lucky enough to have Parris as your waiter, he is absolutely delightful and so helpful in making drink and menu selections. "

  • "Just ate here last night for Mother's Day. Kudos to the wait and kitchen staff for being so engaging. The food was excellent, especially the desserts. I've never been in love with crème brûlée before, but this was the best I've ever had with lots of vanilla bean specs at the bottom of the bowl; very tasty. And it wouldn't have occurred to me that an olive oil gateau would be yummy, but was it ever with vanilla whipped cream to and strawberries to die for. My seared halibut was quite good, although I think salmon would do better with this technique 'cause it's fattier and intrinsically more flavorful. My wife had the pizza like dish that was VERY good with scalloped potatoes. This place is definitely one of our favorites now."

  • "When we first arrived ca. 6:30 and the place was almost empty and quiet, the staff were gracious when we wanted to switch our table, twice, because we discovered that the first two both made us feel like we were in the sub-basement, due to the loud thrumming of the ventilation system--which we could even feel--and the noisy kitchen, which of course, a la trend, was open to the main dining area. Salad and sides were good, as was my wife's ribeye steak, but, not shockingly, my "brined" chicken breast tasted watery and very salty. Better to just learn how to cook the thing the old-school, tasty/crispy way."

  • "Perhaps it was the packed house for Lifelong Dine Out night but this, our first visit we found LeZinc disappointing. Odd house cocktails albeit wellcrafted with impossibly slow bar service. Not once were we asked if wished a second round. In fact zero table service until waiter was beckoned. Food ok - very small portions of the signature Foie Gras - limited menu. All 'Hot' food served, at best, lukewarm, including frites. Mussels served in an oversized pot 1/3 full w/no liquid. Bread $3 a plate. Salad? Oops forgotten. Great Beef Tartare but no toast points, Fork anyone? Kudos to everyone on staff including the cook line who smiled said hello & goodbye. Perhaps a bad night? Maybe. Roll the dice again? No. $100 p/person with 2 cocktails? Nah"

  • "Been there twice. Once for happy hour and once for dinner. At happy hour we had really good drinks, attractively served. Little differences like one large ice cube to reduce diluting. Everyone loved their little appetizers and I had a creme brulee like it's supposed to be. At dinner they had asparagus with a tomato hollandaise that my friend and I each ordered. In spite of the owner saying it was enough to split, it wouldn't have been for asparagus lovers. Friend then had mussels which she said were great and I enjoyed chicken liver pate. The owner/waiter is helpful but non-instrusive. Love that I happened across the place. "

  • "We went there on a Monday to celebrate my wife's birthday. Every Monday is half off on their bottles of wines so that made a bottle of wine with dinner a must-have. Some of the food we had was excellent in design and prep but their big headliner, mussels and frites was a bit disappointing. We went to try their restaurant week menu and it was packed with classic french staples such as Coq au Vin, cheese and terrine apetizers, etc. Overall the food was tasty, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice."

  • "Friends and I tried out Le Zinc during Seattle's Restaurant week and had an absolute fabulous time. The restaurant is in a relatively quiet area of Capitol Hill but provides a great ambiance when you simply want to "get away". All around the food, wine, and service were great and I don't believe that the dishwasher had a terribly busy night as all of our plates very clean once we were done. So, check them out and enjoy a little taste of France while in Seattle."

  • "This place is definitely not a caricatural french restaurant but feels like a true modern parisian bistrot. Reasonably priced, the menu offers a wide variety of meat and fish. The steak Tartare was very tasty. The mussels come in very generous portions with a side of fries. The dessert menu is mouthwatering. Finally, the "French style" espresso was a very pleasant surprise : a "long espresso" not a americano."

  • "I've been to Le Zinc twice, both times in a party of four, and had a lovely experience both times. We ordered the half chicken (the leg is confit, really tasty), the duck (yum) and the salmon. Can't remember the wine we had with dinner, but it was delicious. I did order a glass of Muscadet that was also really nice (not sweet). We didn't have time for dessert. The only snafu was with the computer, which delayed us a bit when we needed to leave. But our server quickly came up with an alternate device and we were able to pay despite the main computer being fussy. Le Zinc is a great place for a simple yetelegant meal but is also appropriate for a special occasion."

  • "Located in a trendy spot with a menu elaborated by a French entrepreneur, the experience has been quite disappointing! To begin with French wine list not very tasteful (the 1st one being ''bitter'' we switched to a Pinot Noir by the glass, very average. The food: the tartare was probably the best pick with the ground meat - But the Moules, appealing because very French basic option, were serve almost cold and not very tasty... When you pay such a price for a diner you expect at least your choice to be average. I'll probably will not give a new try. I'd rather stay away for the superficial trendy spots blooming in the city right now and stay focus on the basic experience of a meal- eat well with good wine and a good crowd."

  • "I have been here twice now and the food is superb. The chicken is so good and yet not pretentious, just done perfectly. The only thing to note is service can be long. This is part of the overall experience, and I liked that, but you want to make sure you are not in a rush when visiting as you want the time to enjoy your meal."
