Our family has a long Moroccan food tradition, my wife's dad was born there and there is no family reunion back in France without couscous or mechoui for the big family event, so it is always with high expectations we go out for a Maghreb region dinner. Le Tajine has met and exceed them ! Harira soup was true its roots, couscous was phenomenal and my lamb shop kebab brought me back to Marrakesh. For dessert, our daughter declared that she would marry whoever was capable of making such delicious sweet almond briwats !

The pickled carrot starter was delicious, as was the bread which had tantalizing undertones of fennel. We chose tagine dishes - lamb and beef in almonds, honey and spices, and the mixed vegetable tagine. All were full of flavor, and had an unusual blend of spices. The whole menu was intriguing and we will be back to explore it further

The food here is phenomenal, sevice is thoughtful and kind and the ambiance pleasant. The food was so amazing... And i really dont like to eat out because i usuAlly feel food is too heavy or salty but the food here was excellent. We had the vegitable bastilla, bakkula, tfaya and the M'rouzia. This food is so flavorful and delicious. We came back with more friends the following week just so we could try more things on the menu. My favorite is the Lamb Tangine with the plums. The M'Hammer with chicken was really good too. Be sure to have the Bastilla as an appetizer. We had the chicken and it was great! I could even have that as my entree. The cauliflower and the spinach sides were excellent....in fact everything we tried we loved. The wines were really good too.

Food was delicious and authentic. Our server, Ben, knew the menu well. The restaurant is modern in style and lacks some of the fun experiences/ambience you can get in a Moroccan restaurant, like sitting on pillows or having your hands washed etc., but the food was excellent. We started with the B'astilla followed by the salad sampler. We then shared the couscous with merguez sausages and the M'Hammer tajine. There were 3 of us and we ate family style sharing all the dishes. We were not charged for sharing as another reviewer had mentioned. In fact, we didn't run across any of the issues mentioned in the bad reviews and had a great experience. I would definitely recommend.

Had dinner here the other night to try something new and really had a nice time. We had the best seat in the house, table for 4 by the window. The service was really good. My daughter did not know what wine (all moroccan) to pick so he brought out a sample of both for her to choose from. The veggie sampler was very good. The baked meat appetizer was ok - but I do not like sweet meat dishes. However the stews they had were wonderful. I had the peas and lamb,( great cold weather food) my husband had the lemon chicken with olive ( really good) our son had the grilled salmon ( he really liked it). I would suggest ordering some couscous on the side with the stews. It was flavorful and everyone had some. We will be back.

We dine in San Carlos frequently, so it is nice to have something different to add to the typical fare. We prefer to go to Le Tajine with friends so we can share a variety of dishes. Our favorite dish is the vegetable couscous, which we order every time (this was our fourth visit). We also had the M'hammer lemon chicken and M' rouzia beef tajines, which were very good … a bit on the expensive side. Overall a nice place to go with another couple or two, as it is not large or noisy so it is easy to have conversation in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are fans of Moroccan and North African cuisine. What a nice discovery and addition to the local dining scene! We started with the Salad Sampler plate as our introduction. Nicely done; very fresh and flavorful. I'm always looking for vegetarian dishes and was very pleased with the Legumes cous cous (a 7 vegetable stew in Moroccan spices. My husband was very happy with the Houtta (fish) tagine. I think (but am not certain) that we paired dinner with Moroccan wine. At any rate, it was all a good value for money. We will be returning!

Intimate setting with comfortable seating and attentive staff. Dinner started with a Moroccan sampler platter as suggested by our waiter. It was very tasty and served with home made bread(only suggestion here would be to serve more than 4 pieces to a 4 person table!) Our main meals were all delicious and portions were plentiful. The owner's visit during dinner was a nice touch. We recommend this restaurant and will be back for another visit!

A party of five went to Le Tajine for the first time. The restaurant is small and has a classy, modern feel to it. Service was attentive. The wine list is very small. The appetizers were great - we tried several and shared. The salads likewise were tasty. The entrees were good - not great. The kebabs were a bit over done - which isn't a good thing. Everything else was very good though. I think we'd go back. Moroccan food is delicious and it is nice to have this restaurant in the hood.

Started with housemade bread, appetizers: Briwats ( phyllo dough with minced beef, with a very spicy dipping sauce) and mashed garlic cauliflower. My husband had lamb shanks, peas and artichokes and loved it (and he is very fussy). I had the meat balls in tomato sauce with egg, which was very tasty. For dessert, we shared the chocolate fudge cake, that we had no problem finishing. We each had an outstanding glass of Rose wine from Morocco. It was very very good. Our server was excellent. What we loved is that most people are not used to Moroccan wines and the server offered us a taste before ordering. What a great way to introduce people to something new. The menu had a variety of enticing items. We definitely will return.

The menu offers wonderful choices, including a number of vegetarian items, which made me happy. Our meals were substantial, flavorful and delicious, prepared with the sweet and savory spices typical of Moroccan style. Prices are reasonable. The service is friendly and efficient. What may disappoint is the bare concrete floor, and a very limited wine list of strictly Moroccan varietals. Though 'all Moroccan' is a nice touch -- the white and two reds we tried were all very good -- we'd like more to choose from. All in all, Le Tajine is a worthy addition to the San Carlos food scene. With a little tweaking, in my opinion, it would be great.

There were lots of tables for 2 when we arrived & we asked to be moved to a table further from the door, but because of the waiter's stations, we had to stay there. We asked twice that the door be closed due to the cold air from outside and the table next to us agreed. But what was really bad, they served the appetizer at the same time as the soup. Then when we were only about a 1/3 in to the soup: "Your main dish is ready. We can put the soup aside for you to finish later or we pack it up for you to go." Oh no no no no. No! Again, the restaurant still had many tables available even when we left. Plus my friend saw the manager motioning to the staff to get us going. If we see service rating improve, we will go back.

We were excited to try Le Tajine, but the food was a little disappointing. Our appetizer was extra oily and my husband's Le Colonial kebab plate only really had one good kebab while the rest weren't particularly good. I had the meatball and egg tajine which was better - the sauce was very flavorful, but the bread that came with it wasn't anything exciting. Overall, an underwhelming experience and we likely wouldn't go back even though the service was good and the owner was clearly trying to be attentive. I suppose it was a bad sign that they had a sign in their window saying they were looking for a chef!

Great restaurant. Appetizers were delicious and the tagines so tasty. The only so-so dish was the cous cous with vegetables. I was expecting a mild dish but it was too mild for me. I mixed in some of the spicy red sauce that came with the chicken kebab, which helped a lot. The marinated boneless beef tagine was especially good. Added kudos: I made a mistake when I made the reservation. By the time I realized I needed to add 2 people the owner told me it was too late. After several minutes of hand wringing, he went away and came back and assured me we'd be taken care of. I'm not sure what they moved or how, but with very short notice they graciously accommodated all 9 of us. Service throughout the meal thereafter was also impeccable.

I had lunch here on Friday with a group of 4. We all found the food to be authentic, well prepared, flavorful and aromatic. The portion sizes were ample (although served on plates that are a bit under-sized for the quantity of food offered). The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We all felt very relaxed and nourished with delicious food. The space is small, but not crowded, and the tables are well organized. The noise level was acceptable for a Friday lunch crowd, with some chaabi-type music playing softly to set the mood. I will come back to this restaurant for lunch (Fri-Sun) or dinner (closed Monday). You should check it out.

Overall we enjoyed our visit to Le Tajine. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. We got there at 6 and the restaurant had no other patrons until around 7. I highly recommend the Chicken Bastilla. It has a great crunch and a nice combination of sweet and salty. The M'rouzia and Prunes both had great flavor and I would highly recommend them. The one downside was that the portions are huge and if you decide to share meals family style, you get charged a $5 split fee. Since we didn't ask them to split the plates it seemed like a wasted expensive. Maybe next time I would order takeout to avoid the superfluous fee.
