Le RivageExcellentThe food and service was excellent. The waitress was attentive but not pushy. The hostess made me feel welcome upon entering. I would return without hesitation. The ambience is attractive and the prices are moderate.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat French RestaurantGreat French food in a sophisticated New York setting. Ambitious menu, many old favorites. Love those soft shell crabs!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDélicieuseA touch of old New York with French flare, this gem is the perfect place to dine before a show. I recently ate there with a colleague and both of us agreed that it was wonderful and reasonable. The price fixe offers many delectable choices. I had the romaine, tomatoes and anchovies, followed by coq au vin and the apple tart with vanilla ice cream for dessert. All 3 choices were excellent and a bargain at $39.95. My companion had the salad verte, lobster ravioli and the bread pudding and was also very happy with her choices. The service was friendly and efficient and the ambiance was nice and cozy. I will definitely return and highly recommend Le Rivage!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic restaurant....excellentA fantastic restaurant....excellent food at great prices (esp. for New York)....superb service. Highly recommended.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLe RivageThis is our favorite restaurant in the theater district, and I make a point of going whenever I see a show or am in the neighborhood. I always get the duck, which is excellent, but everyone I have taken there has always been impressed by the excellent food. It is also a very warm old world atmosphere and the service is impeccable. I recommend le Rivage to anyone looking for a great meal before or after the theater or anytime.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistentAlways consistent, great food, great service. A neighborhood/theater district old reliable.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy go-to restaurant in theMy go-to restaurant in the theater district. We were a party of three with very different tastes. Le Rivage offers so many choices that there was something for everyone. Nice-sized portions, lots to choose from, lovely service and great price--especially for this part of town. Always a winner!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food and good service.good food and good service. excellent for before theater5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMJust plain awesome!I've been here a few times and have not had a bad thing yet! The food quality is consistantly excellent. The Duck L'orange is so good as well as the Coq Au Vin and their onion soup is the best I've ever had. They know how to cook their meats perfectly and everything is delectable. I can't wait to go back! Plus I love supporting quaint little family run places like this. The staff is pleasant and accommodating, very attentive and quick without rushing or pressuring you. I highly recommend Le Rivage!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMvery convenient for pre theatrevery convenient for pre theatre dining. Fix price very reasonable for a large yummy lunch.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant place to dine in MidtownThis is a great place for those who wish a reasonably-priced, excellent dinner in an atmosphere which lends itself to good conversation. The menu is extensive, with dishes for most tastes. I enjoy going here with visitors to the city. By the way, there are no television screens!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty goodMy companion went for salmon, which she pronounced quite good. I opened with onion soup, which I found very good indeed. Coq au Vin was okay and chocolate mousse was splendid. Just one warning: at peak hours not the best place for claustrophobes....5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and what a value! The food is consistently excellent, the dining room staff is very gracious, and the value is superb---need I say any more.
I highly recommend "Le Rivage".5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent pre-theater prix fixeVery nice French 3 course menu at $39 with several choices in each category. We all enjoyed our meal.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMClose to TheatreI have been here before and I have always had a good meal. It is close to the theaters, and it makes it a pleasure to relax and enjoy the time before the curtain comes up. The price is right too. I hope they continue to keep the word out. Irv.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been coming here forWe've been coming here for years, and the food is consistantly good, as is the service.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Pre-Theater MealThe French cuisine at this Broadway-area gem is extensive and flawless. The food is delicious, but it is the price that makes this a real find. Three delicious courses for $25 at lunch, plus an accessible, reasonable wine list. I have eaten here many times when I am in New York and will continue to do so.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food and service! We had the pleasure of dining here before seeing a Broadway play. We had a 6:00 reservation and I requested a "quieter" table which they were happy to comply with. I loved the prix fix $39.00 menu. You get an appetizer, main course, dessert, and coffee with dessert. I had the Lobster Bisque, Sole, and Creme Caramel. Everything was hot and delicious! They asked if we were seeing a play and got us out in plenty of time to walk to the theater, without feeling rushed. The service was outstanding as well. I can see why this place has been around for so long. They know how to do a meal right. Highly recommend!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good experienceI dine here every visit to NYC, and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent, and I have had almost everything. One of my favorites is trout. Friends tell me the frog legs are great also. This is a great find, and for NYC, the prices remain reasonable. Do try the peach melba for dessert.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place to goThe place to go if you want excellant French food. Great price fixed lunches and dinners for theater goers.Highly recommended5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat deal on Restaurant RowFriendly and gracious service in a comfortable setting on Restaurant Row, convenient to theaters. Perhaps best of all is the fact that the very reasonable prix fixe meal allows choices from the entire menu, not just a restricted selection.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways A Special TreatThe food is consistant and perfect. The four of us ordered different dishes. The duck was crispy and fatless. The trout was spectacular as was the Beef Bourgogne. This is a place where you can count on impressing a friend with thier newest favorite restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved this place. I tookI loved this place. I took my mom to a broadway show for Mother's Day and made this reservation just because of proximity and french foo is her favorite. The place was small, and quaint but the food was excellent. I tried the baked green Mussels, and they were delicious. We decided to try somthing different since its rarely available in most menus. so we tried the frog legs and the sweetbreads. Frog legs were under seasoned, but the sweetbreads were the best I have ever had. Mom agrees. I would go back just for that. The desserts were also good. Staff was very friendly.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood ValueDined at LeRivage for the first time recently. Had lunch before a show. The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant is small and the tables are close together, but that wasn't a problem. Service was very good. The food was ver good. The prix fix menu was a very good value. I would definitely dine there again.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, as always!Ate here twice within five days on a visit three years ago. Will be doing the same thing this trip. Very charming interior, staff very pleasant, recognized our server from 3 years ago, food is excellent, the fixed price menu has great choices. Wonderful liver and onions. Do not leave NYC without eating here!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT!!!As usual, we were extremely happy with our experience. We have eaten here at lunch many times but this was our first dinner. I brought a new group of friends here and, whenever I'm squiring people into the city from Philadelphia, this is my "Go to" restaurant. The service and food are impecable and the host and hostess are always so pleasant to stop by and ask how we are doing.
LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!
JoAnn McCausland5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood MemoriesWe have gone to Le Rivage for our anniversary for the last 29 years and have never been disappointed. The French restaurant has terrific service, nice people, excellent food and reasonable prices for NYC theater district. It is a very comfortable place to enjoy a dinner with the one you love.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReally delightful restaurant.Really delightful restaurant. Great location! Great food! Great waitress named Ella. Wonderful value. We had a great time. We will be back.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming, Cozy, and Delicious!I've been bringing friends and family to Le Rivage for special dinners for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. Most recently, last weekend I brought two friends who have adventurous palettes and discerning tastes ... and we have a wonderful meal. From delicious potato and leek soup, to refreshing prosciutto and melon, to start ... to wonderfully light, sauteed chicken cutlets in a variety of sauces, to shrimp scampi, to fresh vegetable ravioli, everything was fresh, light, and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, the service accommodating -- you feel like you're in a French country home, right on Restaurant Row in NYC!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA French ClassicTraditional French dishes served in a warm atmosphere. Try the Onion Soup!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner choiceOld world charm decor, friendly and attentive staff, not too noisy, tables not too close together, tasty food, and fantastic value. I will absolutely return to this restaurant. My husband and I dined here for our anniversary last Saturday evening and it was a very positive experience. We were pleasantly surprised all the way around.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter the CrowdAfter the theatre crowd has departed (we arrived about 7:35), we were seated at a very comfortable table, and were immediately approached by a staff member still catching her breath from the pre-theatre rush. We told her that the rest of our party would be there shortly, and asked that we be allowed to dine leisurely. The menus only had the prix-fixe listed (that made us happy, as that was a prime reason for selecting Le Rivage, and we have had many occasions when a restaurant would advertise a prix-fixe, but would only supply diners with the regular menu). The selection, for $25, was very wide and delicious, and just as importantly, our server asked if we were ready for our mains, or if we wished to wait. That is service! And only $25!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelishHad pre theatre dinner with family in this quaint Parisian restaurant on restaurant row. Nice wine list as well as cocktails. The menu is varied with a wonderful selection of fish, meats and poultry. Both the onion soup and leek soup very good. Mussels in garlic sauce was outstanding. The trout almondine was delicious, as was the shrimp scampi. Enjoy dining here each time we come into NYC for a show as it is conveniently located in the theatre district.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPre theater dinnerPerfect for pre-theater dinner. House red and white very good. Paul and Giselle are wonderful hosts.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Pre-fixe off Broadway!Having rushed through many pre-theatre dinners in the theatre district, I had always herd that the price fixe $25.00 meal at Le Rivage was one of the best kept secrets around. Guess what?? It is absolutely true --each night after 7:30, they offer a $25.00 per person for 3 courses including coffee. More than one dozen appies -- we had terrific Artichoke heart salad; lobster bisque, duck terrine and celery root remoulade. Mains consisted of monkfish; shrimp, and lots of classic bistro dishes. More than 16 dessert choices, coffee and a nice bottle of an inexpensive Bordeaux completed the evening. Add to that excellent service, a quiet dining room and a wonderful soundtrack of French favorites (Stephen Grappelli, Django , etc) and you can'4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always excellent withFood is always excellent with good-sized portions.
