  • "The food was amazing! The presentation and taste was right on point. The bartender (Emily) was outstanding. She knew her drinks. She even made up a drink just for my husband. The only down side to the experience was that it honestly took a long time for us to get our food wether it was the appetizer or our main dishes. The waitress would say your foods almost ready or about fifteen minutes. Half an hour later still no food."

Old favorites are on the menu (I am especially fond of sweetbreads and love their treatment) as well as new things to try out. Be sure to reserve the duck when you make your reservation!"

  • "This use to be my most favorite of places to celebrate and bring my sweetie for her birthday celebration, usually on Bastille Day. But on this last Bastille Day, I was so very disappointed in the quality and atmosphere of this lovely place. It seems that with the renovation of the old section of the dining area, they removed the kind, caring and deliciousness that was the Le Rendez-vous. The Vichyssoise was stringy and lacking the comfortable smoothness of the past. The wait-staff was attentive and on-the-spot but the friendliness of the past was gone. Given that this was a Monday when they aren't normally open, the menu just seemed to be lacking that certain something that made this 'Le Rendez-vous'."

  • "20 Jul pepper steak--delicious but for veg du jour 2 Brussels sprouts -- looked a bit empty--Manhattan was tops - service good had to wait for the bread-music didn't go with a French restaurant 22 Jul--business was good--ordered the cabrillo and it was perfect--sent the Manhattan back--wrong glass and had ice-waiter asked us to order as soon as possible since there were many in the other room--that was ok--I have been going there for years--It has gotten a bit less classy and a bit more friendly--the wine we ordered suited my taste and the music we heard was soft and had French lyrics"

  • "Typically we enjoy dining at Rendezvous. This visit was quite different. The service was slow, errors were made when our order was delivered, and we were not served at the same time. My dining partner was served his entree quite some time before mine was served. All in all, it was not a good experience. However, since we have had good luck in previous visits we are willing to consider this "off" night an aberration and will eat there again in the future in the hopes that this poor experience will not be repeated. However, it this type of service persists, we will reconsider having Rendezvous as one of our top five restaurants in Tucson."

  • "My previous visit was much better and I felt like I had a superb dining experience. I am writing to give constructive feedback and not just to criticize. First, we were seated in the front area, assuming that we were there to take advantage of happy hour specials. Upon my request, we were repositioned in the front room even though a previous party were first given a choice. The food was very tasty but only luke warm and all of the other plates were cleared before the last diner had finished. Finally, the service wasn't great and I found them inattentive even when the restaurant was less than full. There were several apologies but it ruined my expectations as a first class dining organization."

  • "This is a great little place with awesome food . We were on time for our reservation however we had to wait an extra 30 mins to be seated. The service was a 5 out of ten as we were seated a group of eight arrived . It felt to me and my guest that the staff were keyed in on these guests and we were taking up space . It felt like we were an after thought on the floor . Staff should spread the love you never know who you will be serving ."

  • "The restaurant was easy to locate. The staff was very attentive, although a bit presumptive to place the appropriate fork on the salad plate. Delicious wine selections, both white and red. Nice to have the small plates to try foods for the first time. Absolutely heavenly desserts. I would definitely dine here again. My father-in-law LOVED it. It was his first opportunity to have truly French cuisine in many years."

First time experiencing the curtains open and loved the natural sunlight, but the view and many passers-by just inches from the window weren't appealing at all, which detracted from the "Frenchness". Too warm inside so needed AC. Wait staff all VERY friendly and attentive. We both ordered duck as usual and both thought it was not as good as usual, not as flavorful and was a bit too dry. Paté was as good as ever but batter on frog legs reminded me of same batter as on Burger King's onion rings. Mixed feelings for this visit."

  • "Imagine four large, tough scallops fried in the same frying pan with sliced potatoes and brussels sprouts. Then imagine that this tasteless concoction is billed as something called Saint Jacques. Then think about poorly mashed duck livers crumbled over a bed of lettuce billed as country pate. All of this billed as French food. This restaurant has never been the same since the founder retired. It would not last a week in France. It should close. And from the occupancy of the place as we left on a Saturday night, this event may not be far away."

  • "This place is a very cliché French restaurant; it has all the typical French dishes which I like. Food was good but my guest said his escargot was a little chewy, but liked it. I had the wellington which was very tender and tasty. I would recommend the soufflé and give the chef a heads up since this does take time to prepare. The chef was also gracious enough to prepare foie gras off the menu which is always a sign of a potentially good establishment, but it was a little over cooked, but I digress, all in all a very pleasant experience. The staff was attentive, I will caveat that there were only four to five other diners in the restaurant, so in the final analysis I would say go for it."

  • "For the most part the service was good -bread, water and drinks were promptly brought to the table. The escargot starters were excellent. However there was a long wait for the entrée. The chateaubriand was warm and excellent, but the plates had to be sent back because the potatoes and veggies were cold. They were brought back promptly and were warm. The noise level was quite high."

  • "Went there with my wife and 2 daughters a few days before Mother's Day. As usual, we had a great experience. Here are the dishes that we thought were great: 1) Escargot 2) French onion soup. My youngest daughter thought that the broth was too strong, but my oldest daughter loved it. 3) The beet salad (who would have thought?) 4) Duck a l'orange (not on the menu - have to ask for it) 5) Salmon "Le Rendez-vous" 6) Shrimp w/ crab 7) Chocolate souffle 8) Chocolate cake What was so-so: 1) Mussels 2) Strawberry mousse. The service was outstanding. They were really busy and had to switch servers a few times, but they coordinated very well. One of the servers was a Parisien, so we got to use our French, a little."

  • "Given the wonderful reviews, we thought we would give it a try. Reservation set a 7pm. We were seated at 6:55pm. I wanted to order scallops then duck and eventually soufflé. First, the scallops were sold out. After a few minutes, the waiter came back to say that duck was sold out too. So I reverted to frog legs and veel. Cautious, asked if the soufflé was to be ordered in advance just to learn that it needed to. We were never asked. We ordered Médoc wine (hoping for a bottle), got only 2 thick glasses. Not sure of what we drank (Medoc was not on glass list). Frog legs were breaded, uninteresting. It took 1h to get the veel when the restaurant was near empty. We were about to leave. Veel and souffle were good. Bread was very average."

  • "We went on Saturday evening and were promptly seated in the "back" which actually has a nice view of the Catalina's. Service was prompt. I had seen a peppercorn filet being served as we were being seated and opted for that. My wife had the beef wellington. Both were delicious and properly cooked. Having been there before we knew to order the souffle for dessert when ordering dinner. It was beautiful as well as absolutely delicious. It was my wife's birthday so we wanted a really nice dinner out so she chose to go here. Next time we will try it for lunch or sit in the front to try some of the small plates offered."

  • "We had the chataubriand for two and it was simply scrumptious. The presentation was excellent. The appetizers were delicious. My husband had the scallops and I had the mushroom en croute. We shared the crepes suzette for desert and it was marvelous. The staff was attentive and it was a marvelous way to spend my birthday. We will be returning for our anniversary dinner in September."

  • "We ate at Le Rendez-vous Bistro for our 42nd wedding anniversary. I requested a quiet table and they were wonderful to give us one. We are very into good food and they did not disappoint us - everything was delicious. We had pate, beet salad, sea bass and crepes - all wonderful. Our waitress was beyond wonderful and the young men filling the water glasses were there but silently and always before we needed to ask. This was just a lovely evening - every ingredient made it so."

  • "Not having been to Le rendez-vous for over 15 years, the restaurant did not disappoint. We found it to have a fresh, clean look with an appropriately varied menu--not so huge as to boggle the mind, but large enough for a viriety of choices. I had the escargot for an appetizer and found them to be exquisite as was my entree of scallops. My partner had the beet salad and salmon entree found both selections excellent, as was the wine. It must be mentioned that I eyed a corner table in the dining room. The waiter pointed out it could be noisy as the bus stopped there. That suggestion was so helpful as my partner has tinnitus and noise level is important. We were seated at a table the waiter suggested, making the dining expereince superb."

  • "A very pleasant dinner. We both had an excellent vichisoise (lots of garlic and cream). I had the salmon with orange sauce, my wife the coq au vin. Both with potatoes anna. The excellent house wine at happy hour price. The coq au vin was generous enough to make another meal with the next day. The small plate menu is very enticing. we'll have to go back to sample that"
