A word from Le Provencal Bistro
Everything “a bistro should be”, this “delightful” Mamaroneck French bistro earns praise for its “approachable” menu of “heartwarming” fare, “excellent wines” and “inviting” atmosphere. “Warm service” and a “wonderful spirit” makes it a “keeper”; P.S. the prix fixe daily lunch and dinner (Mondays thru Thursdays) are “the big bargains” here. Diner Reviews
  • "The staff was very friendly and accomodating as was evident by the fact that some diners requested to be let out of the large french door in the back room leading out to the street and flush against our table. This happened twice during the evening and interrupted our meal with a blast of freezing air while the large parties trooped out. A little annoying. One of our party recieved the wrong entree and waited about 10 minutes more for his meal. He was very quickly compensated with a glass of wine on the house. The portions were small but the food was tasty. Overall, it was a nice meal but maybe off night. Friends swear by this place so I want to give it another try but will be sure to dine at an earlier hour."

  • "A very pleasant place with excellent food and service. Wish the parking were easier, but that is a minor drawback for a first rate place to eat and enjoy the friendly environment."

  • "Really nice shrimp appetizer with beans and spinach. Really weak lobster bisque. Like dishwater. Fair tart tartan. Fair calf's liver."

  • "This was my second time at this restaurant and I would certainly go back. I think it is hard to find very good traditional food coupled with very pleasant service. For a neighborhood restaurant, I would highly recommend Le Provencal Bistro."

  • "If you are looking for good French food in a casual, friendly atmosphere, this is the place. Food and service are both excellent and if mussels are on your favorite list, this restaurant is highly recommended."

  • "We have dinned here several times before and were attracted to dine there this time due to the Hudson Valley restaurant week promotion. We very much enjoyed our entrees (maybe skip the crab cakes through). We will return."

  • "Provencal is a cozy French restaurant that is consistently good. A broad enough menu for everyone. We find the service to be good whether a small party or up to the nine people I have gone with. A nice atmosphere with original interesting artwork on the wall. Well worth a visit."

  • "Food is always good, even though they tacked on extra charges for some of their great dishes (e.g. escargot, duck, ..) during Restaurant Week, but I am glad they offered the escargot - even at an extra charge!"

  • "We tried out le Provencal Bistro before going to a show at the Emelin Theater, choosing it out of the three available Mamaroneck restaurants participating in Hudson Valley Restaurant week. Appetizer, main course, and dessert are well worth it at the $29.95 prix fixe, but I would not pay the regular prices that seem exorbitant for what I would say was a "good" meal."

  • "Le Provencal Bistro is indeed a French gem! The menu selections and food are outstanding. Service is great and it's nice that they recognize us from previous visits!"

  • "Our entire dining experience lasted less than 50 minutes. It was restaurant week so the waitress asked for our entire order (3 courses form the prix-fixe menu) when we placed our cocktail order. Within minutes of receiving our drinks, our appetizers arrived. We had just finished our appetizers when our entrees arrived. The waitress did not even bother to ask us if we wanted wine (after all this is a French restaurant). By 7:35 our desserts arrived. Coffee? That wasn't even in her vocabulary. Upon leaving, I noticed that there were a number of open tables, so it was not that the restaurant needed our table. The service and the pace of the meal are something you would expect at a diner, not at a fine French restaurant."

  • "My family and I had a delightful evening at Le Provencal. We have been patrons for many years and have never been disappointed. We celebrated 2 birthdays at this visit and both honorees -- my husband and my daughter -- had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the service very good, as always."

  • "My girlfriend and I had an early dinner here before a film at the Emelin. We both had the mussels and were NOT disappointed. they were delicious. The restaurant was quiet mid-week, so we were able to catch up. A fine evening led off by a terrific dining experience."

  • "The meal was fabulous. Pan seared Foie Gras, Mussel Soup and Beet Salad were all delicious. Mains were great too - Tuna with a Pepper Sauce. The service could be improved, but well worth it for the food!"

  • "As always the food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable evening. Definately a destination restaurant."

  • "Maybe because they were fully booked on Valentine's Day, but the service was quite slow and uneven. We received food before our wine and cocktails after food had arrived. Also took an hour before we actually had the main course. Our server was sweet but didn't write down our order and had to come back twice and confirm. Food was delicious, however, and is typically consistently good. It's a nice traditional French fare."

  • "We are always greeted by the owners and staff. The food is consistently excellent, from classic Le Provencal dishes, like the crab meat with Louis sauce starter to the scrumptious profiteroles and lemon tart for dessert. The bread is always fresh, the servers are knowledgeable and friendly. It's a favorite place to go for special occasions or a spontaneous dinner out."

  • "Provençal is a gift to the Mamaroneck Avenue restaurant scene. Sophisticated, not stuffy. Warm, friendly atmosphere, menu and people (diners included.) On a Sat. night, an older and diverse crowd of 2's and 4's dining on delicious, authentic French bistro fare. Recommend the mussels and frites, scallops, beet salad and pot au creme dessert. Great wine list and many are available by the glass. My NYC dinner companion declared this meal better than what she gets in the city. Parking advice: go behind the stores across the street instead of on the Avenue. When Open Table says Neighborhood Gem there ought to be a photo of Provençal."

  • "Had not been here for a while and was happy to have stopped in. The veal was tender, the wild mushroom soup perfectly seasoned. Consistently a place worth evey penny you pay....."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner there last week. The bistro type food has always been very good and dependably so. I asked for a quiet table when I reserved. There was a table that had a wooden wall (?) on one side and 2 or 3 sets of tables for 2 on the other side. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it was fine. Once the other tables were empty the staff didn't sit anyone else in our area. recommended highly."

  • "My husband and I have been to Le Provencal Bistro many times in the past. The room has a casual but elegant feel but is not pretentious. The food is consistently very good and was excellent on this most recent occasion. We went there for New Year's eve and have gone there once before on this occasion. We had a glass of the house wine which was also very good. I had a roasted beet salad, which was excellent and the Provencal shrimp also excellent. My husband and I shared a dessert, poached pear with gelato and chocolate sauce, also excellent. The service was also excellent. Our waiter came over many times during the meal to check that we were enjoying the food and to see if we needed anything."

  • "Went here for intergenerational family holiday brunch on cold rainy Sunday. Restaurant wasn't that busy but took nearly an hour to get our food. We had to do a dance, sing a tune and jump up and down to get waitstaff's attention. The late delivery deserved at least an apology or a free something. They seemed annoyed when we asked for things. Food was very good once it arrived."

  • "The food here is consistently good. French cooking into today's style. The mussels are the best anywhere! Staff is cordial and friendly and service attentive."

  • "I have dined at Le Provencal Bistro several times before. I know it from when I used to live nearby. I try to eat there at least once whenever I visit Westchester County, which now averages about twice a year. The food is classic French and very good. Service is normally quite good, but was below par on this visit: A busser grabbed plates without asking and while others at the table were still eating; the server mixed up who ordered what (in a party of 3), rushed service (main courses arrived during the appetizers) and brought the check before our party had finished eating."
