Diner Reviews
  • "I've gone to Le Persil twice now and can happily say both visits were superb. The french cuisine is highly authentic (real gruyere on the french onion soup!) and excellently prepared. The restaurant itself is fairly small and never seems to get too busy, although I've only gone during weekend brunch hours. Nevertheless, if you're heading into PA - I highly recommend stopping by Le Persil for a quick and delicious lunch."

  • "Dined here when passing through on a road trip. Bit surprised that no wine in a "French Bistro" (BYOB). I should have checked first. Not busy on a Monday evening..I was the sole diner, so a bit short on ambience. However the food made up for any negatives."

  • "Food is good overall and portions small. Fish was a touch overcooked. Service was slow for no apparent reason. Only 4 tables filled at 8pm on a Friday night. Would probably avoid if the place was packed."

  • "Food and service was great! Limited space as it is small. This can either be to crowded or nice and cozy depending on one's outlook. Would visit again."

  • "I have been here many times now, and the food is consistently top quality. So rare to say that I have liked, and usually loved, every dish I've tried! Though it is a long drive for us, it remains our favorite weekend dining spot."

  • "I was so excited when I realized this was a French bistro, not Italian. Our meals were exquisite. The sauces were silky smooth and scrumptious. The creme brulee was perfect. It's BYOB which makes it as affordable as going to a bar & grill where you pay $6-10 per drink. We will definitely be going back! Very happy to have found this restaurant so close to home."

  • "When we get the opportunity to eat out, Le Persil is our choice most of the time. The food is excellent, and we always enjoy the evening."

  • "This was a charming place in the Poconos. The food was exception. Service over the top. I had a business lunch and the team did just amazingly well to accommodate our working lunch. Food was exceptional. Can't wait for dinner next time and to visit again. This is a must if you are in the Poconos !!"

  • "We moved here from NYC 2 months ago, and this is the best restaurant around. Dinner was better than any NYC French Restaurant . Menu had many choices and the food was OUTSTANDING."

  • "We are in desperate need of a French restaurant in this area. We went on a Friday night, it's a BYOB which is nice, the food was great, the chef came out to greet us which is rarely done, but the personal touch made us feel welcome. I had the lobster ravioli and it was fantastic, the best I've ever had. My husband had the coq au vin, the sauce was rich and delicious, the chicken was tender and moist but the chicken tasted like it was previously refrigerated and reheated. My husband had the crepes suzette which was really delicious! I had the fresh fruit crepes which was also great, the crepes were light with just a hint of vanilla, yummy! I want to go back and try all the deserts, they sounded wonderful and I am a desert lover."

  • "We had some friends from Phila come to stay with us and we wanted a restaurant that was cozy, BYOB, had good food and was quiet enough so we could catch up with our old friends. We had it all!"

  • "Location was good, complete with parking lot next door. Service was good and food was good. Prices were fine and menu was extensive enough. Ambience was a bit lacking esp since my boyfriend and I went for a romantic dinner. Being a BYOB is a big plus."

  • "Le Persil Bistro presents itself exactly as a French Bistro should -- buttoned up but casual, simple yet elegant, and just enough energy to keep out the stuffiness. We (two of us) started off with the roasted beet salad. I am dubious about whether the beets were truly roasted, however, the salad was a good portion, had a nice simple dressing, and the cheese they used to top it with was really high quality and flavorful. . We split the Filet and Bourguignon entrees; both were flavorful but not too salty (as French food sometimes is), and the Filet was cooked exactly as we ordered it. Overall, this restaurant is excellent in terms of food, service and ambiance. Hint: take advantage of the BYOB and visit one of Penn's local wineries!"

  • "A charming little restaurant with excellent french food. Most restaurants in the area are geared to college students focusing on burgers, wings, and cocktails. This is authentic french food with excellent boeuf bourguignon, mussels in white wine and garlic, escargot, and crepes. There are even some dishes that require a days notice to prepare such as poached peaches and pears, a delicacy rarely found except in the most expensive venues. The prices a very good for the quality of the food. Also, the restaurant is BYOB, with the restaurant providing corkage and wine buckets for those bringing champagne or white wine. This is a great find in to Poconos and could easily succeed in Manhattan or Philadelphia."

  • "I am working my way through the menu *again* and had the mahi mahi on this visit. It was prepared with capers, grape tomatoes, a little onion and the best buttery lemon sauce - light and delicious. It was served with a choice of starch. My choice this evening was the mashed potato, possibly the best I've ever had. Finished with the chocolate mousse. A great dining experience."

  • "Le Persil is a wonderful restaurant with great ambience. The food is superb and the owner and wait staff are very gracious and efficient. We only wish they were still open on Sundays for brunch - more time to enjoy their delicious fare!"

  • "Happy, fortuitous find in Stroudsburg! Wonderful and welcoming staff, delightful French menu, and eager-to-please chef made this a special dinner in a corner of PA otherwise not known for much culinary to say the least. Linen tablecloths and quiet ambiance to boot. The BYOB policy made the whole meal very reasonable (liquor store with good selection just 2 blocks away). For anyone visiting the area - this is your #1 choice!!"

  • "Linen tablecloths and gentle French melodies add to the flavors of the foods. A little taste of the Old World can be had in this small birstro. It certainly will be an enjoyable evening"
