Le PerigordWelcome home!... Was the greeting that we received from the Captain the first time we had dinner at Le Perigord. I only wish that I had this kind of service at home, and that I could cook like that. I love Le Perigord. Very low key; great food.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic French cuisine in midtownBeef Wellington made to perfection. Homemade French cuisine well executed.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as always! we are alreadyGreat as always! we are already going back in a couple of weeks with friends. It's like home to us. George, the owner, always makes us feel very welcomed and his staff is very gracious and professional. Loved the vegetable tart and my filet was delicious. thank goodness there is still this elegant French menu available at this level in NYC.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French Lives!Grateful to have one high end classic French restaurant left. Why cant other restaurants offer Beef Wellington, Boeft Bourginon, Cocqillle St Jacques and the like on menus anymore. Plus Le Perigord does it with courtly service by seasoned wait staff who actually seemed to have made a career of it and are unobtrusive and professional. And this is not about endless noise and buzz; you actually go here to talk to the people at your table and hear what they say, rather than to be part of an overall buzz and din. This is a special place- quietly elegant, formal enough for a special occasion, yet not dauntingly so. May the owner live long and prosper so we can continue to enjoy this wonderful restaurant!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasureSaturday we were six people and everyone enjoyed their meal. The dessert cart is always a winner and the fact that you can have a conversation in normal tones is priceless. We go regularly and don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place for a good meal and excellent service.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTraditional FrenchEnjoyed food. Well presented, appropriate portions and tasty. Recommend lamb chops. Wait staff ver god. Only issue was service a little to rushed for a French restaurant.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Trsditional French MenuWonderful food, service and ambience for a reasonable prefix price. Small, quiet, elegant Dining Room, with attentive staff. The Dover Sole was sublime.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMRelax and Enjoy!Being out of the way means a great epicurean getaway. Dining the way it should be, but is so hard to find in today's hectic life style. Service was perfect, attentive, friendly and enthusiastic and the food fresh and innovative. When you think I need an enjoyable break, this is the place.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOld world charm and ClassicOld world charm and Classic French service. Attentive waiters, who were not intrusive but treated all guests with great care. Perfect for a special occasion where people could really talk to each other and hear each other unlike many new trendy spots in Manhattan, where the noise level prohibits conversation. Food was excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you favour a French cuisineIf you favour a French cuisine the frog leg and venison are excellent dishes. Wine list is middle of the road and reasonably priced. Offer a fixed price four course meal that provides great value.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, but ....We have been here before and very much like this restaurant. However, this evening the service was extremely slow. A party was going on in a private room and this may have been the cause. They were even late in setting out their appitizer buffet. We did not appreciate the loud sound of ice being poured at close to 6pm in preparation for the buffet. This should have already been done in advance of the dinner group. Also, suppose we wanted to chose from the buffet? However, the food, as always, was excellent. Because of that, we will not cross them off our list and will return - however more likely for lunch rather than dinner. We have never had a problem at lunch.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Le Perigord withWe went to Le Perigord with friends who share the same anniversary. Dining in the traditional and elegant way without the stuffiness.
Georges makes everyone feel like a friend of the family. The food was exceptional as was the service. The wait staff's professionalism and demeanor is evidenced by the long years of service for all of them.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AM50 Years of Excellence - ThanksWe had a lovely Sunday evening dinner on a cold early spring night. As always, the food was very good to outstanding. Frogs legs needed more garlic. Excellent fish. Beef Wellington a hit. Superb classic desserts. Now in its 50th year in the same location, Le Perigord still rewards diners with fine food, wine and service. There are other newer, more popular, more expensive upscale NYC restaurants but we keep returning to Le Perigord every several months for a reliable enjoyable experience. It ranks high on our list of all time favorite NYC restaurants along with Four Seasons, Lutece and the Coach House.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our 43rd wedding anniversaryIt was our 43rd wedding anniversary and we have been celebrating here for 4 years. It is a wonderful dining experience3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMarry the chef at Le PERIGORD.Oh my god! I thought I was back in Paris. The warm bread, the wine (red) excellent. The escargots in hazelnut butter with wild mushrooms oh my god! The best. I also loved the veal with morrels, superb. The sauce was perfect. I asked the waiter to let me know about the raspberry tart because I wanted to marry that man so I could have one every day. The best tart I have ever had. Coffee = GREAT.
I THINK I'LL HAVE TO GO AT LEAST twice a week. Forget about the money. The food was just too good to even think of how much the bill will be. Just eat and enjoy. You only have one life enjoy it at LE PERIGORD.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIncomparable ExperienceProbably the most traditional French restaurant in NYC, serving classical French food prepared on the highest level. My wife declared the Dover sole to be the best filet of fish she had ever eaten. Duck was succulent and perfectly roasted. Frogs legs provencal were meaty and meltingly tender on a bed of wonderful risotto. The dessert cart offers a wide array of delicious and skillfully prepared berry tarts and much, much more, including an ouef a la neige that should not be passed up. An altogether incomparable dining experience.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe very best in classic FrenchThe very best in classic French food. Duckling prepared table side, beef Wellington. Delicious dessert cart or souffles. Gracious service. The prix fixe is still only $65 and the portions are large.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTraditional French GemVery pleasant lunch-- fell at little ignored at times but the food is perfect traditional French.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best veal I've had inThe best veal I've had in years! The restaurant is a little dated, but the taste in classic. Highly recommended.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe real deal -- a vintageThe real deal -- a vintage French restaurant with excellent food and attentive service.1/14/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French food, caringClassic French food, caring service, even on New Year's Eve when the restaurant was totally full. With today's NYC prices, the prix fixe menu is a bargain at $65 with three courses. I love the buffet froid to start (a little gravlox, some pate, celery remoulade, shrimp, poached fish, etc.) and the duck, and then the amazing dessert cart. Family owned, and it shows.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMThis is one of our old favorites. This is one of our old favorites. If you want to have a conversation with your dining partners and be comfortable and pampered, you could do worse. The appetizer plate was great, as usual, and the desserts outstanding. My husband's duck was superb, but the fish special I ordered was disappointing - almost a spa plate, and the mustard sauce lacked pungency. Our friend loved her beef wellington, though. Stick with meat or poultry and you'll be very happy.
Next time that's what I'll do. And there will be a next time.12/30/2012 12:00:00 AMWe were a party of 10 andWe were a party of 10 and they made our reunion very special. Very good food, service and ambiance made for a great lunch12/18/2012 12:00:00 AM
