A word from Le Perigord
Now celebrating its fiftieth anniversary under the ownership of Georges Briguet, since 1964 Le Périgord has offered classic French cuisine in an elegant setting in midtown Manhattan. Recently renovated, Le Périgord is a premier destination for French cuisine in New York. The New York Times calls it “a French restaurant the way French restaurants used to be,” complete with white tablecloths and exemplary service from wait staff in tuxedos.
Besides tableside service of Dover sole, duck à l’orange and rack of lamb, the traditional menu also includes such staples as individual beef Wellington, pike quenelles, coquilles St. Jacques and kidneys in mustard sauce. And don’t forget to leave room for the fabulous soufflés and the legendary “temptation trolley” of desserts, which always includes such timeless favorites as tarte Tatin, chocolate mousse and floating islands. The extensive, award-wining wine list includes a fine selection of old and recent vintages at sensible prices.

Diner Reviews
  • "A very pleasant dinner. We will dine there again."

  • "Le Perigord is a New York City stalwart of French Cuisine and throw back to a time when simple, fine French fare was the norm. Then came "le nouvelle cuisine", architectural presentation, star chefs and egocentric owners! When I visit Le Perigord (where I have stopped in from time to time since I was a teenager!) I feel like time has stood still. The same classic food, the same staff, the same décor. I try to get there during Restaurant Week (month?) because it is such a bargain as this is a pricey place. Some in my party were less than completely happy with their choice but I enjoyed every bite and a sweet and engaging Captain made this visit special and enjoyable."

  • "This restaurant has been around a long time and ALWAYS pleases - good service, nice presentation, good food and an atmosphere inducive to discussion with your eating companions."

  • "I am thoroughly impressed with Le Perigord. Every course I ordered was delicious, the service was fast and the waiters were very attentive to us. The restaurant had a very clean and calm atmosphere. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!"

  • "The ambiance of the restaurant was good with a hint of 80's offices furniture. The crowd was a mix of older people and group of working adults. The food was fabulous(highly recommend the veal kidney and lamb chops for entrees). They have excellent serving waiters. They are very attentive and know their food well(good recommendation). The service speed was just right without the feeling of being chased. Overall, I think it would be a good place to come for high service french food."

  • "Great classic French restaurant. Most of these old-school places are disappearing, but this one lives on. It's hard to find top notch, formal, and professional service, and they have it here. Definitely worth a visit."
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "My guest and I truly enjoyed the food and the wine. Service was confused because we kept being served by different staff. It is very old school, but worth the visit."

  • "We had a fantastic celebratory lunch at Le Perigord during restaurant week. I will definitely return, even without the restaurant week deal. The banquette we sat at faced outward to the lovely restaurant; the waitstaff were very attentive, and the food was top notch."

  • "My husband called the Restaurant Week menu selections airline food. The dessert were better. Also, very poor service."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "One of the really nice thing about ale Perigord, in addition to their very good cuisine, is that you can actually "dine" and talk with your companions."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "Service and greeting were very casual. No one was at front to seat you. Many empty tables. We were not asked if we even had a reservation. We pointed to a banquet table in the back and were able to sit there. Service was of the old French style, captain taking order and served by long standing older waiters in white jackets. No give or take either way or chat. Food was excellent and realize restaurant has been in business for 50 years, but patrons should be treated a little warmly, or that might be only for long term clientele, not just restaurant week subscribers."

  • "Excellent! Classic French Food, Service and Ambience. 5 Stars! All 4 of us"

  • "We were a group of six ex-coworkers that had not seen each other in over 20 years. We could not have picked a better place. We had a wonderful lunch and were not hurried one bit to finish our meal, in fact we closed the place while they were getting ready for the dinner service. I highly recommend this wonderful old world restaurant. You don't see service like this any more."

  • "excellent food, restaurant week menu outstanding value, service impeccable."

  • "Went for dinner with my wife, daughter and a family friend. Food was good not great and would not prompt me to write a review either way. But the service was atrocious --- had to all but beg for someone to take our order and then another 20 minute begging exercise to order a bottle of wine. Given the number of vibrant, creative restaurants in New York where the owner is anxious to earn your business, the chef yearning to prove he is a culinary star and the server aiming for a good tip, why anyone would go to drab, out dated, mediocre Le Perigord is beyond me."

  • "This was my first time at Le Perigord and I will definitely return. Everything was outstanding."
    Dined on 8/12/2014
  • "Service was so slow and the food was lacking, needless to say, we would not return."
    Dined on 8/11/2014
  • "Although there was mild slippage on recent prior visits, seems to have returned to its old self. Just celebrated 50 years in business -- a not so easy task today -- and is undergoing renovations (8-2014). Service superb and food extremely good, well prepared and presented. A bit busier than usual (even for restaurant week visits - which this was), but still able to conduct a conversation although noise level up slightly with bigger crowd."

  • "We had a delightful birthday party dinner at Le Perigord with really good French food and excellent service. You have the experience of fine French dining at Le Perigord."

  • "Very nice people. My french wasn't too good but I don't think they mind. I made a mistake for not dressing nicer because i was out all day. Fancy fancy restaurant ~"

  • "My wife and I had dinner with two friends. The NYC Restaurant Week menu is excellent. We all enjoyed our dinner there. The restaurant is very reliable and quiet. Each of us tried different appetizers, entrees and desserts, which were excellent. The restaurant was quite full but we were not hurried at all."

  • "Excellent as usual - menu and decor seem to have been upgraded"
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "Even under the duress of Restaurant Week, the quality of their food and service shone through! After a brief wait, we were ushered to a lovely quiet table. The wine list ran the gamut (the Provencal Rose @ $45 was exquisite) and their pate de la maison was "incroyable." Diners now seem to gravitate to either noisy comfort food locales or overpriced minimalist "outhere" cuisine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with classic French cuisine and it's great here. All you naysayers, should give it a try. We'll be back. Merci Bien"

  • "We enjoyed a romantic Friday night dinner at Le Perigord! We were treated beautifully, from initial seating through to leaving. We were not rushed, we enjoyed some wine before even ordering our meal, and then enjoyed two delicious dinners - one off their restaurant week menu and one off the regular menu. The food was a delight to the eye as well as the palate and the ambiance, while crowded, did not encroach on our enjoyment."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "Service was okay, however the food was way below expectation."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "We went for Restaurant Week dinner. The pate was delicious, the tart wasn't special. My chicken was dry and the crab cakes nothing special. The frozen souffle was very good and the fruit tart was good, but not exceptional."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "It was a Restaurant Week lunch. We were celebrating the 68th wedding anniversary of special friends, during Restaurant Week. They were charmed. My request for a table near the door, so they would not have to walk too far, was accommodated. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A lovely fruit tart with a lit candle was brought to them in addition to the dessert they'd ordered. We would go back in a NY minute."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "The food was very salty. We ordered the pate that was blah. The crabcakes and my salmon dish were very salty. The waiters were very hard to get a hold of. We sat there waiting for the check and then for our card back for at least 20 minutes."
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "I ate lunch here during Restaurant Week. Appetizer was chef pate with ratatouille. Main course was lamb with artichokes. Desert was white and dark chocolate mousse with Grand Marnier sauce. Everything was delicious. Although the restaurant was full, the food came out quickly."
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "The good stuff: amazing food! And that's about the only good thing to say. The rest -- namely the service -- was extremely poor. They brought us the wrong appetizers twice (1st incorrect; 2nd incorrect; 3rd, for some reason, incorrect). Then they brought our entres to the table next to us. Dessert was fine. Now the bill. My friends puts half the bill, I put my card. After waiting for 20 with questioning, they bring the wrong bill with my card missing! That took 10 minutes to sort. Then, they brought us the receipt with my entire card being billed! That took another 10 minutes to sort out. After everything was fixed, all they had to offer was a nice post-dinner drink, nothing else. We declined and that was that. Tread carefully."

  • "Le Perigord was a throwback to dining of old... white coat waiters with constant attention. It was a lovely meal!"
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Great experience! Food is old school French and so are the staff but in good classic way!"
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Good menu for restaurant week. Nothing special for a great restaurant. Service slow and bad, no attention at all."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "This legendary setting has survived decades of food trends. A wonderful choice for delightful classical cuisine. The opening line from the host when you enter is "Welcome home." It is good to be home."
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "Often described as "an institution", Le Perigord stumbles along and puts the old in old school. I just don't get its value proposition given the top notch competition it faces in the Manhattan dining scene. We visited on a Friday evening and slow, inattentive service plagued the entire evening - it took nearly 45 minutes for our appetizers to arrive. The food was generally well prepared and met our expectation for classic French preparation. There was certainly a lack of any real inspiration but perhaps that was a misplaced expectation for a place like this. The old school environment and experience has a certain charm that probably resonates with the regulars but I'm afraid it's not enough to warrant another visit or a recommendation."

  • "I have been to Le Perigord 3 times. The first 2 times were 5 stars for food and service. My recent visit was during New York Restaurant week, I feel that the service was not as good and the food portion is slightly less. I would still go back after restaurant week is over."
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "The service is good and the food is fabulous. The foie gras for appetizer is great and the salmon for entree is also delicious."
    Dined on 8/1/2014
  • "A calm and quietly elegant place where one is beautifully served, very well fed, and made to feel perhaps a bit more attractive and intelligent for having the wherewithal to regularly dine "au Perigord." Ever comforting, with cuisine that says all is right with the world..."
    Dined on 7/31/2014
  • "The service was excellent, though a little rushed; and the hostess was a scatter brain....we wandered throughout the room while she thought about what table she should chose for me. The sauce for the rognon was excellent, though some were over cooked and tough...which was disappointing since I adore them, the waiter asked how I liked them cooked and I said rare to medium rare. the soup, green pea was very nice but completely devoid of garnish which perhaps unfortunately we've all come to expect."
