Diner Reviews
  • "First time at this restaurant for two local couples enjoying a Sunday night dinner. Salmon, grouper, duck and schnitzel were chosen. All excellent. Grouper was best ever. Attentive staff. Prices consistent with upscale dining however good value. We will definitely return."

  • "Every year when I visit St Augustine I make sure Le Pavillon is on the itinerary. The onion soup is always excellent as is the filet. The scallops, escargot and catch of the day always fresh. This visit didn't disappoint."

  • "excellent lamb. salad could be much better. service not very attentive"

  • "While the service was very good we were very disappointed in the food. St. Augustine has so many good restaurants this one just did not meet the standard. "

  • "We have been there quite a few times. Every time we are there the food is exceptional, have tried quite a variety on the menu. We have come for special occasions and just with friends or by ourselves. Every room is very different and comfortable. We will definitely return. "

  • "Very good German food as well as excellent fish entree. Dessert Black Forest cake was as a good as any bakery in New. York would go back"

  • "Loved our evening at Le Pavillion! The food was fabulous! Wonderful selection of dishes and everything we tried was delicious...fron the escargot to the veal to the duck! Will definately go back if ever in St Augustine again!"

  • "A real Gem in St Augustine. Good food, excellent service and reasonable pricing. Will visit again."

  • "The food was of inconsistent quality. My husband had a great boulibaisse while my veal oscar was barely edible. Would not return. Too many better restaurants in St. Augustine."

  • "We just happened to be in a hotel across the street so we checked the menu online. It sounded like it would please all 4 of us so we made our reservation. We were totally happy with our choice. All our meals were delish and the portion size was perfect."

  • "The lamb is the way to go. Go for the eggs on the schnitzel. Service was awesome!"

  • "The food is good but not fantastic. Price is reasonable. Only distraction was a guy at the next table on his cell phone, but he left shortly after, He obviously didn't see the sign to turn cell phones off when he came in."

  • "Clean and friendly plenty of off street parking even with the carnival going on just down the street. Next time I will try the lamb but the prime rib was so large, found it necessary to ask for a too go box. Thanks for enjoyable dining experience."

  • "On this, my first visit to Le Pavillon, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, and the quiet charm of the place. My companion had the lamb chops, and they were the very best I've ever had. Melted in your mouth, with flavor that was amazing and made me wish I had ordered them as well. Our server was prompt and firendly and the atmosphere was pleasant and quaint."

  • "Food was good but nothing special for the price $$$. We will probably try this restaurant one more time (we live close by) to select different menu options but there are better choices in St Augustine."

  • "For the last 20 years we make sure to eat here about twice a year. Its always a nice evening, They are not the trendiest place, but the food is solid and consistent. Our favorites are the duckling, rack of lamb and Bouillabaisse. They are a family owned restaurant and really make an effort to please. An entrée here is a full and satisfying dish and we also leave with plans to return."

  • "Classic German/French menu well executed. Geriatric clientele but wait staff energy level more than compensates. Food was excellent."

  • "good food asalways, morefrequently go there for lunch or when its not so crowded--but the noise level in the front room where we were Saturday night was TOO loud. Server (who wasthe bartender--standing in) [apparently they were short staffed, was polite but seemed to be shouting--we could hear him from acrossthe room."

  • "Le Pavillon has always been a favorite. The schnitzel is the best in the Jacksonville area. Service is always good. The staff has been there for quite some time and they are very familiar with the menu. They are also accommodating in making any changes you request. This is an excellent restaurant"

  • "Took my in-laws there as part of their Christmas present. Had something for everyone. Grouper, Steak & German dishes all absolutely fabulous! Wine selections were very nice and plentiful. The bread that was served had just the hint of Parmesan cheese and was very tasty. Made many brownie points with my in-laws. They are comic back to try the lunch menu."

  • "As far as the food, the salad was plain lettuce with dressing. Nothing else. The have the option of small portions if you order from 5-6. We did that. The portions are small, but that allows for dessert. The food was good. The restaurant was very welcoming and cozy. Maybe romantic if I was only on a date. But I was with my family of 6. The service was good. The staff was very friendly, and they were busy. I like that they took reservations. It was a good experience, but maybe a little average which would make me not come back again since there are so many other restaurant options to try in St Augustine. However, if someone asked me to go there again, I would not be disappointed."

  • "My wife had a filet and I ordered the bouillabaisse. After our soup and salad we waited quite a while for our order to be served. The server said it took a long time to cook the bouillabaisse because it was complicated. When the order finally arrived my wife's filet was cooked perfectly, but my entree was overcooked. The shrimp were very dry, the mussels were dry, the dungeness crab claws were stiff and were extremely hard to crack open and the meat came out shredded and very stringy. We brought this to the server's attention and he went back into the kitchen to talk to the chef. The manager did not come to the table to speak to us nor did they offer to not charge us for the entree. I don't think I would ever return again."

  • "Le Pavillon was a real surprise in St. Augustine. The food was what one would expect from a good continental restaurant in any major US city. It was such a pleasant experience compared to the other restaurants in St. Augustine which were little more than 'one off' fast food outlets, pubs and Taco places. The violinist was amazing. Food good. Booze fairly priced. Service was fine."

  • "I have been to LePavillon on number occasions for lunch so this was my first time for dinner. The restaurant had quite a few patrons and we were seated right away since we had reservations. We did have to wait some time for our orders to be taken but when we finally got our food it was delicious. We wanted to eat dinner and had tickets for the Holly Jolly Trolley but because our dinner took so long by the time we finished the trolley quit running which was around 9:00pm. We will know next time."

  • "the reviews that I found before making my reservation are true, food is excellent, instead of being listed as a french restaurant, it got more german dishes, and they kept the original european flavor, I will certainly go back on my next visit to St. Augustine."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at the Le Pavillon. This restaurant is just north of the center of the historic district of St. Augustine, and we sat looking out at the street where the horse-drawn wagons filled with tourist passed by. We loved the romantic atmosphere of the dining room that was decorated for the Christmas season. We both ordered the bouillaisse which was filled with fresh seafood in the most delicious combination! Wonderful dish. The service was very good, and we appreciated not being rushed through our meal. We ended our delicious meal with cappucicino. I would definitely recommend this historic restaurant to anyone wanting a quiet, romantic dinner with an historic flair and delicious food at a moderate price."

  • "great restaurant, good variety on the menu by type of food and price. The service was great and we were not rushed even though it was a busy night. two plusses- they take resevations and have a large parking lot. easy walking from there to old town, the fort as well as some interesting shops in the area of the restaurant."

  • "This family owned restaurant has its own parking lot! You don't have to fight for a spot like you do in Old Town St. Augustine. I have been to many restaurants in the area and loved this place for its old time feel (The 1960's Sinatra era, the family has owned it since 1977 and is now run by the second generation). They have a very good wine list, great food and you can choose to order a smaller dinner portion for a small fee. The food is in the German-style and not greasy like many German food can be. The salad with house dressing was great with the Bibb lettuce and the Chocolate Mousse for dessert was just enough when my partner and I shared it. Every time I go back to St. Augustine I will definitely return to Le Pavillon."

  • "Since moving to St Augustine over 10 years ago, we have dined here many times. Next year tho I will skip the month of October as the accordion music is too much in this small building. I had forgotten this from last year. Last year they sat us in the back room but this year we were not given the option. It was not possible to carry on a conversation. We like this restaurant because it is quiet and the food is excellent. Will continue to go there just not during October."

  • "Nice restaurant, good food, great atmosphere - however $5.50 for a Beck's beer is outrageous."

  • "The food was outstanding. I had the poached salmon with bernaise sauce and my husband the grouper. They were cooked to perfection. The waitress we had was great with bringing us our food and anything else we needed but she was not very friendly. She was rather cold. The young men that helped serve and clear our plates had wonderful attitudes and were very polite. They made the evening very pleasant for my husband and myself. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we would definitely visit it again. We just hope we have a more pleasant waitress."
