A word from Le Parisien
Le Parisien is the go-to neighborhood bistrot for Murray Hill, offering classic French food like steak frites, escargots and moules marinieres, paired with a well-edited list of french wines.
Chef Johnathan Masse brings his expert knowledge of comfort food, having most recently served as sous chef at the Waverly Inn, and also for Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto. Along with owner Christian Merand, formerly of Jean-Claude in Soho, they have created a restaurant that focuses on serving consistently great traditional food with a lively and unmistakeably French atmosphere.

Also open daily for lunch and brunch on weekends.

I NEVER write reviews however this place deserves ten stars... My boyfriend and I went on a whim and we could not have been more surprised and happier. Everything from the wine down on to dessert was to DIE for. Homemade fries....best fries I've ever had in my life. We never order dessert but since dinner was so delicious we had to experience the floating isle which was recommended by our waiter and the sweetest couple sitting next to us. I've never had anything like it, but I know I wanted to take home 20 of them. The tables are a little cramped, but if you're with that someone you love, you won't mind being close. I would HIGHLY recommend this place as it was one of the best experiences I've had eating in the city.

Really loved this place. Great French country food -- very authentic -- but not over the top on price or on nouvelle-ness. Just incredibly tasty and authentic French cooking that I liked a lot and have returned to twice more.

Just had dinner with a friend here and it was busy on a Tuesday night! The place is really cute and the seating is very tight - so you will be able to hear your neighbors. But the food is very good - we ordered Mussels, Duck Confit, and Skate Fish - all delicious! The presentation is also very lovely and thoughtful. This is a neighborhood gem offering wonderful French fare at good prices. Would definitely recommend for small groups.

  • Delicious Croque Madame

They have a croque monsieur on the menu but they were willing to add an egg on top (croque madame). There was a $1 charge for the addition but I thought that was reasonable. The croque madame was made correctly and it was delicious. I would go there again the next time I'm in New York when I'm eager to have a croque madame.

Small, unpretentious and welcoming! The service was excellent. The food was fantastic! I had the beet and goat cheese salad which, as a beet lover, was sooo good. My husband had the onion soup which he raved about. I had the trout entree and it was superb. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is a great neighborhood find with reasonable pricing and we highly recommend it. Nice wine list, as well!

Le Parisien is a moderately priced French restaurant. The menu is not extensive but it has all the usual suspects: steak frites, duck, a few fish dishes, etc. There is a nice assortment of interesting salads. It is nice to have a French restaurant in the neighborhood to complement the many Italian and Asian ones.

    Dined on 8/26/2014
My steak was overcooked and very tough. Fries were ok. Rainbow trout was good. Not kid friendly, no high chairs. One of the employees actually sushed my 19 month old when he made a noise (and wasn't joking), even though the table next to us was laughing and screaming at a much higher decibel level. that just made for a very unwelcome experience.

I went with my two children age 10 and 11, who I would consider foodies, and they thought it was excellent. I appreciated the atmosphere which felt intimate and relaxed. The food was delicious and my daughter especially liked the layers of flavor of her pork dish. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We felt very comfortable and had a lovely dining experience.

Despite the awfully cheesy video on their website, which I actually enjoyed and got a kick out of, Le Parisien did prove itself to be what it claimed to represent. My dining experience at LP was nothing short of fantastic. The escargot, goat cheese salad, mussels, and floating island tasted great. My only complaint would be the fries; I didn't particularly fancy them. But overall, great service, and wonderful ambiance. I would say to make a reservation mainly because this place is not too big. Will definitely come back in the near future.

We were staying in Murray Hill and wanted a great restaurant within close walking distance. We love brasseries and bistros so were delighted to fine Le Parisien. The place is tiny with maybe room for 15-20 people. It has great atmosphere, tin ceiling, paris posters, French music. The menu has great variety. We had the Steak Frite (the litmus test for a French bistro) and the Paperadelle. Both were outstanding. Flavorful and cooked to perfection. We shared a bottle of Cote du Rhone---they have a great wine list with by the glass, 1/2 liter and bottle with reasonable prices. The service was attentive without being disruptive--perfect. I'm starring this place so we'll visit again.

I was in town and met my niece here for dinner and wanted some time to visit before we ordered our entree and tried to order an appetizer first with our wine, but we were told that we had to order our entree at the same time. They were obviously trying to turn over tables, but a little too obvious! I ordered the salmon medium and it came out well done and dry.

I guess I expected a bit more for a place called Le Parisien. It didn't feel very French at all even though the food seemed alright. The escargots which I usually use to gauge a French place by were not even in the shells, they were just plopped on the plate alongside empty shells.

This is one of those perfect restaurant gems that those in the neighborhood try to keep a secret. It's small, the tables are close, the noise level a little high, but the food is delicious and the service excellent. I have never had anything but a great meal. I always feel like I've been transported to Paris when I walk through the door. Many French people eat there - no wonder I feel like I'm in Paris. The Steak Frite is delicious. The Calves Liver too. The fish selections are usually daily special, so always fresh. The wine selection is good & not overpriced. I have brought many friends to La Parisien and it instantly becomes their new favorite place. As I stated in my opening, a true gem.

Love this place! On my most recent visit, our server was especially delightful - spoke French and English beautifully so my French friend was perfectly comfortable. Food quality is outstanding, portions generous but not overwhelmingly huge. Excellent value!! Wines were very nice, and when not ordering by the bottle, you receive a very generous pour by the glass. Menu offers a good varied selection of dishes such as you would find in a neighborhood resto in Paris, and at very reasonable prices. Love the atmosphere - because the restaurant is small, I do feel like I step into a little bit of France. Will continue to recommend to friends.

I can't say enough about how much I enjoy my experience at La Parisien every time I go. Terrific intimate setting, friendly service, and most of all excellent dining. This time I had the carpaccio to start, the pork piccata for my entree and the "floating island" for dessert. All truly above the bar outstanding. Other great picks: both salad options, rainbow trout, salmon, steak frites and any dessert. Highly recommended!
