Le Parisien is the go-to neighborhood bistrot for Murray Hill, offering classic French food like steak frites, escargots and moules marinieres, paired with a well-edited list of french wines.
Chef Johnathan Masse brings his expert knowledge of comfort food, having most recently served as sous chef at the Waverly Inn, and also for Chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto. Along with owner Christian Merand, formerly of Jean-Claude in Soho, they have created a restaurant that focuses on serving consistently great traditional food with a lively and unmistakeably French atmosphere.

Also open daily for lunch and brunch on weekends.

  • "Le Parisien serves good French food at reasonable prices in a small space that reminds you of a little hole in the wall in Paris. It's not white-tablecloth snobby French. It's Paris bistro French. Relaxed, comfortable, and pleasant. I didn't find the.food.perfect, but it was good. The service was ok, but not the best. The tables are tightly packed into a small space. But the price is right and for.a casual dinner, Le Parisien works well."

  • "My four friends and I went to Le Parisen before our Friday night movie at Kips Bay. This restaurant was very convenient (less than two blocks away) and really cute. You can walk right by it without noticing it but if you were lucky enough to notice you won't regret. Between the four of us, we ordered two duck confit, one roast chicken, one steak frites and we can all agree they were delicious. I'm a big fan of duck and this place certainly does it justice. This place is a great neighborhood restaurant and also a good place to stop by before or after kips bay movie"

  • "I tipped over a glass of wine and most of the contents flooded the plate of my dining companion. The owner came over and insisted on preparing her dish again, although she said she was fine just having it re plated. Lovely. This is a throwback, intimate, attentive (even without the wine incident) bistro. Food is lovely and fairly priced. Wines (glass/carafe/bottle) also are reasonably priced. The only reason I would not recommend it is that it is very tiny and if all of you start going ... well, getting a reservation might become difficult for me. Bon appetit!"

  • "Somewhat limited by its rather smallish dining room, Le Parisien brings a high energy level and friendly co-patrons into an intimate and lively setting. From the outside, not much... but inside, you're transported to Paris. Waiters and owners are French, and you can hear multiple languages floating through the room. Well prepared basic bistro fare (steak frites, moules frites) combined with daily specials and a somewhat shortish selection of French wine. Be prepared to meet your fellow diners since the tables are closeby. The best part of NOT being actually in Paris -- no smoking allowed, of course!"

  • "This was my second visit. Service is friendly and efficient, food is well prepared and nicely presented. The huge drawback for me--though apparently not for most reviewers--is that tables are very small and extremely close together, even by NYC standards. Once the place fills up, it's impossible to converse in a normal tone of voice. Probably the best way to enjoy is as part of a group. Way too noisy and uncomfortable for an intimate dinner."

  • "Service was excellent, the carafe of Bordeaux was surprisingly excellent, duck special was excellent and came out as requested: mine medium rare and my companion's medium. Escargot were a lovely appetizer and there is an enticing array of appetizer salads. Small menu makes choice easy while offering an array of dishes. Dessert was warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream and profiteroles (cream puffs filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce.) Again, both were excellent. Profiteroles were more hard than soft. If that is a problem go with the apple tart. Superior dining experience. Wouldn't call it a romantic setting and the noise level was high, but I would definitely go back. Best dining experience that I had all weekend."

  • "This is a terrific restaurant on the east side. Very small with about 15 tables. The food is just terrific at this gem. Wonderful escargots and beet salad for starters and duck confit and mussels for the main. Dessert was a shared floating island. For our wine we had a marvelous premier Cru Chablis for a very reasonable price. Very very highly recommended."

  • "I had a friend coming in from Nashville and wanted to find a cool NY place for lunch. To accommodate the different directions we were coming from, I looked online and saw Le Parisiene, and made a reservation. My friend and I were delighted. She's a food blogger, so the presentation of everything impressed her and she took pictures of the food. And the food tasted just as good as it looked! The service was terrific as well. All in all, my friend and I had a fantastic lunch, and I'm keeping the place on my list of great NYC places to go to."

Seriously, I feel sorry for Air France, because everytime we eat here we realize we don't need to fly to Paris. Decor, staff, pricing...all great.   • "The food is delicious and the atmosphere charming, however the wait staff was haughty and rude and the bus people kept taking our plates and glasses away before we were done! They even took our candle off the table as we were drinking our coffee. We got up to use the restroom at the end to find that they had completely bussed our table. Our jackets were still hanging on our chairs so they knew we were still there ! And we didn't even see people waiting for a table! NOT cool to rush us like that, for the price that we paid for our meal!"

We had a bottle of red, Cotes-du-Rhones to go with the steak. I love the wine, very fruity and smooth. The server was very attentive. The seats were tight but we had a good time!"

  • "My wife and I live in this neighborhood and have been back to Le Parisien many times. The neighborhood restaurant reminds us of a particular restaurant we visit when in Paris. Although the menu is limited, the food is very good and the wine list is good and reasonably priced. Reservations are recommended; it is not unusual for all tables to be occupied."

First half was great, the second half not so much as we were stuck next to a rather loutish gentleman trying to impress on a first date. But this really can't be blamed on the restaurant."

  • "I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, who enjoys the french kitchen! I went there with my girlfriend in January, i had a wonderful "Mussels mariniere" with a lot of taste, and an outstanding soup at the bottom. My girlfriend had a really nice "Duck confit", which she enjoyed very much. For dessert we shared a perfect "Creme brulée". When we return to New York, we would love to come back to this place, and enjoy a french meal."

  • "Our regular french hangout. Small (30 seats), quaint, Parisien, typical french fare. With a Charles Trenet CD softly playing in the background, you are in Paris. We went Monday during the snowstorm and of course the place wasn't busy. The place was about 1/4 filled. But the food and service was as it always is - consistently and delicious. Mussels and frites for my gal and a fantastic herb roast chicken ina a tarragon sauce for me. With a carafe of Rose from provence, what more could you ask for. $80 for everything including our favorite appetizer, red and golden beets, goat chees, and julienne apples in a walnut vinegrette. Smacking my lips now. Go and enjoy."

  • "My friend and I each had a salad, me the beat salad, and she had the endive salad. Both were delicious! I had the roasted chicken, which, if you've never had a french roasted chicken, you MUST try. I don't know exactly what it is about French roasted, but it's out of this world! My friend had the homemade parpadelle, which was AMAZING! I have not been to France for many years, but this certainly took me back. I have been to other "French" bistro's in the New York area, and while they were ok, this one was quite outstanding! So, if you happen to be in the area of East 33rd. St......run, don't walk to this restaurant, which was tres bien!"

  • "I took my girlfriend here for dinner when we started going out - place gets packed pretty quick after 7pm so make a reservation! Food is very very good, and the mussels are a must! You can order a half size of mussels for an appetizer if you want, but it doesn't come with fries (which I must say are really good too)."

  • "This was a last minute New Years Eve reservation to a restaurant we had never been to before. The reviews made the decision for us, and they were all correct. It was a very intimate restaurant, but the food and service were excellent. It was a set menu, and for New Years Eve, a very good price. I can't wait to go back and try their normal menu very soon!"
