The food was adventurous and delicious, a rare achievement in today's restaurant world ... but ... my wife's pork tenderloin was somewhat underdone. Pork has a very mild intrinsic flavor which is not enhanced by its natural juices, nor is its texture improved by rawness - pork is not beef. The service was excellent up to the point when we expected the bill. We were in no hurry, but we felt that the bill would appear at roughly the same pace as the interval between courses - leisurely, but not finding us looking around for the waiter. These comments are mere quibbles. We did the four course option with wine by the glass. The service was fantastic and the food was perfect. It was not cheap but we've also paid a lot more for no where near as nice of an experience. What I really appreciated was just how hot the food arrived each course -- I think they immediately put the food on a hot plate and then brought it to our table without delay! The food is always exquisite and the way their dishes are presented make you just want to admire the dish and not eat it. Thank goodness that urge doesn't last long as the food is to die for. And who can say no to the several "tasters", as we call them, that magically appear on your table. We will certainly return again and again and may not even wait for another event to do so. It was pricey but a lovely dinner - we did the tasting menu w/ wine pairing. Wine pairing was a little weak - two of the wines included a cheap sake and Belgian beer. Not quite the elegance of other places. I guess this helps in a more quiet, intimate atmosphere. The service is polite and accommodating. We wanted less salt in some of our dishes and our waitress was responsive and made sure the cook did just that. The food was pleasant to look at and taste. We had the 3 course fix-prix dinner, $70 PP. Lovely with some special addition such a tiny shot glass of Vichyssoise soup. I ordered the scallop appetizer, the salsify soup (whatever that means), and the sturgeon "Wellington" at the recommendation of the waitress. She seemed very knowledgable. My friend enjoyed her meal as well. We ordered a half bottle of Viognier wine which was terrific. It was only $25. Service was great, they moved to a prix-fixe model so the diner may choose a 3-course or 4-course meal. Wine selection was extensive, moderately priced, and a knowledgeable sommelier was very attentive and ready to describe boutique wines that were well-made and help with selection. Several "gift from the chef" morsels served while looking at the menu were interesting and delicious.
