The 3 and 4 course pre fixe menus are limited but so varied everyone can find something to thier liking, and then it will be prepared perfectly. The portions are certainly adequate but things taste so good you can't resist asking everyone at the table to try your dish. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the South Bay."

  • "Salsify soup was silky and subtle. Fresh pea soup tasted like fresh peas right out of the pod. Beef tenderloin melts in your mouth. And, as always, the Grand Marnier Souffle was heavenly. This is our special occasion restaurant; we go there twice a year. Next time we might go somewhere new, because we've tried the dishes on Le Papillon's menu that appeal to us more than once. We'd like something different...but then again we might have to go back just for the beef filet."

The hearts of palm salad was tough and flavorless. The noisettes of deer was very good, but nothing outstanding. However, the sturgeon wellington was extremely overcooked - even burnt on the outside. The soufflé was good but heavy. There are flashes of greatness, but overall disappointing."

  • "We recently dined at Le Papillon. This is a treat for us: We dine here every year or so on special occasions. We've been coming back for perhaps 30 years now. The dining is fixed price: three or four courses. Wine is extra. We ordered wines by the glass, so we could pair different wines with different courses. The wine selection is excellent, prices reasonable. Though if you just have to have that cult Napa Cabernet you can find it on their wine list for the expected big bucks. For first courses, the pear salad and the salsify soup are wonderful. For main course, I had the red deer with huckleberry reduction sauce. For dessert you can't go wrong with the Grand Marnier souffle. The service is great; the wait staff knowledgeable and helpful."

I had sent flowers directly to the restaurant, and the table was all ready when we arrived. Service was excellent, food was creative and delicious, but the dinner was extremely expensive. Prix Fixe pricing made the tab somewhat of a shock, so be prepared. Great place to celebrate, especially for couples."

The salad was a disappointment....brown edges on the lettuce making it appear that it was not quite fresh or tasty. The duck entrée was not up to par. It was not a bit crackly as advertised. Scott is a good chef and the appetizers were excellent but the salad and entrees need a bit more attention."

Inventive, like "wine" pairings include sake and beer along with outstanding wines. Perfect service. Had tasting menu with wine pairings without telling us what the plates were--we guessed, then looked at the menu afterwards. So there were some delightful surprises--"oh that was that!" If anything, the decor could use a little updating but that's nit picking compared to the quality of the food."

The service was excellent (very friendly, not arrogant), the food was as good as I had imagined and the restaurant was comfortable. The only negative thing I could come up with was that the dress and phone codes were not enforced and it lessened our experience. I wish folks would respect these types of places."
