  • "First, I showed the waiter a pricing error in the wine list. The same wine was sold at 28$ for 500ml and 48$ for a whole bottle (750ml). If we calculate that there was only a difference of 250ml it should have cost at the most 42$... Only explanation given was that the pricelist was reviewed recently and they must have the winelist by the glass section.... Food was ok, nothing to "write home about" as the saying goes, very well presented and original recipes but unfortunately not very warm altough I was there at the opening of the dinner service ( 1 of the 1st ones to be served, in fact). Only real pleasure was the location. Was sitting on the terrasse and had a very nice view of the Chateau Frontenac and the church ground's merchants."

  • "I made a reservation for breakfast, but the restaurant called & said that time was not available, so I asked them to cancel my 1st reservation. I made a 2nd reservation via Opentable for dinner. This, unfortunately, was the worst meal we had in Quebec City. My meal was well below average and my husband's meal was just okay - maybe the chef was off that night. The male waiter (wish I could remember his name) was so extremely rude, impatient, condescending & sarcastic to me & my husband (for no apparent reason), & he treated most, if not all, of his other customers the same way. I am flabergasted that a waiter could treat customers this way & still be employed. Too many other great restaurants to eat here."

  • "A nice point of the menu is the option of ordering 3 appetizers for $36, or topping up your entrée choice with a $10 soup or salad added (petit table d'hote). Three of us did the apps option and were very pleased with the choices and careful arrangement of when each app was served. Enjoyed smoked salmon, smoked buffalo, onion soup (a very different version than the traditional, and fantastic), scallops and salad options. Another guest had the lamb (beautifully plated and prepared).All enjoyed the crème brulee option for the evening, with lemon and thyme; and I had a pavlova preparation which was outstanding. Service was excellent. Our waiter was charming and accommodating. "

  • "I made my reservations two weeks prior to the date we were in town for and received my confirmation. Two days before our reservations I received a call from the restaurant to inform me that "the computer didn't work" and they actually did not have room for my guest and I at the time we had made the reservations for and had to move our time up till 6pm. Considering our reservations were made for a special occation andwe recieved little notice of the change it dissapointing that the restaurant did not discover the "glitch" till last minute. It honestly dont think it was a computer "glitch" Food was ok, but nothing spectacular or memorable."

  • "My wife and I went to Le Pain Beni on Valentine's day for lunch. Everyone from the reception to the waiters were casually pleasant, very helpful when we asked questions. The atmosphere was casual and nice. The food was exceptionally good. The menu was limited to 4 different entrees for lunch as the very interesting a la carte menu is only available in the evenings. The entrees we picked a risotto and a piece of beef were however truly outstanding. Food styling showed an effort in presentation and the quality was excellent. The bread, a simple French baguette was fresh and crispy, with a proper dough, not the usual rubber piece of bread that is often served in restaurants, The appetizer a duck terrine was home made and also delicious."

  • "Our waiter was charming which helped, but the food was uninspired. Would not go back again. Appetizer of boudin, mushrooms with truffle sauce had no flavourful or complexity. Entree was beef tartre- the tartre was tasty tho bland, no sauce to complement, frites tasted like frozen shoestring fries, and chef salad was an attempt at Asian fusion, but dressing unfortunately had no flavor. Dessert of Creme Brulee was OK, but a bitter taste from the crusty topping...we asked the waiter to pair the wine, it was bland!"

  • "We were a party of 3 and this was our first visit to Le Pain Beni, although 2 live in Quebec they had ne ver heard of the restaurant. The menu has different food options with an a la carte option as well as table d'hote options. Interesting was that the restaurant offers also an option with 3 entrees in addition to the starter, main dish, desert & coffee one. The menu offered interesting combinations of meats with vegetables. All 3 dishes looked and tasted wonderful. Portions are big. The restaurant has en extensive wine list but prices are not exaggerated. Will come back to Le Pain Beni"
