The evening was very nice. Our waitress Mallory was wonderful, very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was well prepared and had complementary flavors. The wine pairings were well done.

The restaurant is great and the menu is beautiful. However, this is the third time I have been and the service is so so and the food is average. A bit of effort on their part would make this restaurant the first rate experience it was the first time I went 2 years ago

A fun and delicious experience in New Orleans. The menu is organized with wine parings and includes 1/2 portions so that you may try several wines and food items on the menu. I loved the crab cake!

It was a quiet night in the restaurant, but I don't think if it was busier that it would have changed the excellent service we received from our waiter Andre. He was very attentive and gave good advice after listening to our questions and tastes. The food was outstanding from course to course. We loved the half-sized portions which allows you to taste a variety of the tasty choices. Our only complaint was that the desserts didn't come in half-sizes too which would allow for greater variety there too!

I was surprisingly underwhelmed with Le Meritage's wine paring menu. While dishes and paired wines were well thought out, creativity, and flavor in dishes was rather safe and mediocre. Servers really like to explain the concept of the menu and have studied the pronunciation of wine varieties, but fall short on the art of service. I am decidedly not impressed with someone who cannot manage to fill water glasses on the only table they are servicing. I was looking for a fun and novel dining experience and found instead, a stiff ambiance, a menu of reruns and an absentee server.

Wonderful concept, pairing dishes with recommended wines, and allowing for small portions. The small portions, described as appetizer-size actually are generous and a small portion appetizer with a small portion entree works just fine. Crab tower and venison were particularly good.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant! Food was incredible and LOVED the ability to order a small or full portion... Which allowed our party of 8 to enjoy more of the menu. Wine pairing with each entree was also a plus! The wait staff was very attentive,, particularly our waitress who recited every entree on the menu...she was amazing!!

I liked my food, the ambience and the service. However, my boyfriend did not like his shrimp and grits entree. Also, he does not drink alcohol and the emphasis on wine and wine pairings was not comfortable for him. These restaurants are good options for those of us wanting to eat before going to the symphony or other performances at Mahalia Jackson. Perhaps some tables could NOT have all the wine glasses on them, and waiters could ask first if customers are interested in the wine pairing option, etc.

The restaurant was very nice but not very busy. I usually like a restaurnwith a little activity. We had reservations at 8pm, maybe that was too early for New Orleans. The staff was attentive and the food was very good. If you go, you MUST try the baby cabbage salad! The ingredients didn't sound like they would go together, but the flavor combination was divine!

Service was excellent and having been notified in advance that we had ballet tickets for 8 the staff made menu recommendation that would help us meet our time limits.

We spent 10 days in New Orleans and dined at a different restaurant every night. This was the only one that used the wine pairing as they do. It is a teriffic idea. The smaller portions was also an exceptional idea as was the 1/2 pour. It allows one to enjoy the excellent food and wines without feeling any gastronomical pressure. We ranked it among the two best.

As background, we are from the Channel Islands, used to European cuisine and European timing. The first 2 courses were excellent and the wine match ups perfect. However, why did you rush us through the experience? Our final course was well below the standards set previous and managing/digesting the sheer volume of food was impossible in the timeframe. We are sorry your restaurant was subject to cancellations during Super Bowl weekend and resources were short on the night. But, we had booked from 5 thousand miles away in the thought that gourmet cuisine could be hard to get. This was part of our Super Bowl experience, what a shame our memories have been reduced by a kitchen seemingly more concerned about getting money over the counter

Just wasn't a fan. This is a restaurant that leaves me with the DeJa Vu experience I have had many time before in different restaurants. After its gs, tastings, over, nothing was outstanding or memorable except the huge bill I'm going to get banged for. It actually has me thinking in a different direction on high end places. Unless I know them or have been recommended highly by a close friend or colleague, I'm sticking with the medium priced places that I know will give a plate of happiness. All set with the pairings/ tastings, which were mediocre at best.

Le Meritage has a very creative menu. The best part is that you are able to order each dish as a small plate or large plate. This allowed us to try several dishes, the best of which was the Baby Cabbage Salad. This was the best salad I have ever had in a restaurant. It was chopped brussel sprouts, golden raisins, truffle oil vinaigrette, and parmesan cheese. The fish dish we had was also very good. I also really enjoyed the smoked oyster soup. My wife had the beet risotto, which she really enjoyed.

All of the courses missed the mark for us. The tuna hamachi was overpowered with citrus. The halibut had great flavor and would have been the best dish, but the fish was really overcooked. Our third course was the lobster ravioli, which will hopefully be removed from the menu. They were trying for a creative, deconstructed ravioli, but what came out was an overcooked pasta with a few vegetables on top. I don't recall tasting lobster. Our last two courses were venison and smoked beef tournedo. The meats were cooked perfectly, but the dishes lacked any flavor beyond that, aside from some delicious purple potatoes. Our waiter was wonderful, and gave us both a free second glass of wine and dessert when he realized our fish was not good.

We celebrated Christmas Eve at LeMeritage before Midnight Mass. We loved the suggested wine pairings. The atmosphere was elegant, with live music as an added bonus. The food was, disappointingly, simply average. The bread pudding was actually flavorless. We enjoyed several NOLA restaurants during Christmas week and Le Meritage had the nicest atmosphere and perfect proportions to their meals. The service was very attentive, really too attentive. I placed my folk down planning to be finished when my husband asked if he could have a taste. In the brief moment my fork was on the plate the next course arrived. When it came to desert we asked for a moment between courses which was respected. This was great as the Pumpkin Souffle was wonderful.

The menu is nice but to be honest they dropped the ball on a few things. The sweetbread starter was only 'ok'; some remaining veins. I'm comparing it to Spicer's sweetbread at Bayona which is probably not fair since her's has to be the best out there. The foie gras was nice. The halibut was dry. The lamb t-bone was no better than I make at home. They had run out of the beet risotto (sad face). Overall: the idea of wine paring is good, but they need to execute better on the food. We did arrive at 9:15 so maybe what was left in the kitchen was the 'b' staff. Who knows. We'll probably try again.

For two of us, the bill was $240, way overpriced given the average quality of the food. The server was terrific and the wines well selected, though a bit pricey. The value just wasn't there -- because of the food was not really exceptional, in line with the prices.

We dined here on a Friday evening and there were only a few other parties during the time we were there. I guess there's a lot of competition in New Orleans and this restaurant seems a bit more out of the way in the French Quarter than so many others. We obviously booked through open table where there was a special promotion listed for no corkage fee. When we arrived with our bottle of wine we were told there was a $35 corkage fee. We explained what we saw when making the reservation but the manager insisted we were wrong. I saw the same promotion when I checked the site after arriving home. I suppose he never heard the adage, the customer is always right. He lost our business and recommendation, regardless of how well the food was prepared...

Thursday, 11-1-12, the restaurant was dead at 7:30 (save for two tables of elderly people). Our server, Charlotte, did a poor job of guiding us through the menu and when we finally did order, our food came out so quickly our wine hadn't even arrived yet. There was a lovely, young talented musician who played the guitar and sang, however it was a bit loud considering the restaurant was so empty. Additionally, it seemed like a desperate act, as typically one would not find entertainment in a restaurant like this.

The food and service were excellent. The prices are reasonable and there was a guitarist providing background music.
