  • "A gem in Acton, excellent departure from a meeting in Boxboro. Try all the specials!"

  • "I took my husband to Le Lyonnais for his birthday. We both ordered different items from the prefixe appetizer to dessert menu. It gave us the opportunity to try several items (pate, fish soup, pork, veal, chocolate mousse, and a caramel tart brought to the table with a candle in it). The menu had so many delicious looking items, as well as a few unusual items. We were at the restaurant for over two hours. We were never rushed. As a matter of fact, we had time to rest between each course, so we did not feel stuffed. The food was wonderfully presented and tasted delicious! Nellie, our server was attentive. She never let us feel rushed. She told us she would be there all night with us."

  • "The service was not knowledgeable about food in general or the menu. THe lamb was undercooded and basically inedible. The cassoulet was good. For some reason they don't salt any of their food enough. Will never go back."

  • "Waited 15 minutes after being seated before waitstaff came to table. After that, service OK. Pleasant atmosphere. Wine list limited and pricey. Interesting menu. Special appetizer mushroom crepe well prepared, good flavor, lacking salt. Salmon and scallop entree excellent. Coquille st jaques scallops overcookedd, vegies excellent. Cheese cake dessert excellent. Coffee fine but milk and cream ice cold. (Never that way in Lyon FR). Overall somewhat pricey but interesting menu makes it worth a second try."

  • "I took my wife here for a valentines dinner and have to say we were both very happy with this choice. The restaurant is actually a house that was converted so it has several smaller dining rooms with a very cozy almost rustic charm. Everything has a bit of a home made feel from the wine list to the menu, a nice change from dining in the city where things can be so overly polished. We had the mushroom crepe and mussels as appetizers. The mussels were unfortunately bland, but the crepe was very nice. For entree's I had the quail cassoulet and my wife had a seafood special, (sorry I forgot the names), both of which were excellent. Service was very good and except for the mussels the food was as well. Will be back to try the Duck L'orange!"

Extensive menu, meticulous detail, beautiful presentation veggies and meat in many styles encompass pork loin, beef, lamb, sweetbreads tripe, seafood varieties with mussels, paella, cassoulet, duck, quail,,chicken, trout , skate, more. Everything is delicious. Generous portions, nice wine list. very reasonable prix fixe choices …and full menu as well. Well worth the trip."

  • "We had not been to Le Lyonnais for about 25 years due to moves, etc. although it used to be a family favorite of all generations. When we went back last week it was every bit as wonderful as we had remembered it. Chef Girard and wife Joan greeted us as always - the food was fabulous; I had duck which was cooked to perfection and onion soup that was the best I've ever had. We hope to be back again and again!"

  • "My wife and I wanted to try some where new and we are so glad that we chose Le Lyonnais. The food was outstanding and our service was great. This is a nice quaint spot and we had an outstanding evening. We will be back!"

  • "Had a quail&rabbit confit special. Wife had chocolate mousse for dessert, and I had Crepes Joelle with a cappucino. Excellent!"

  • "Valentine's Day at Le Lyonnais ended years of passing bye and stating "gee, we should stop there some day." "Open Table's" reservation service easily found a table for two with no problem at all. From the beginning, little things began to chip away at the one missing star in my review. Parking was insufficient for diners on that evening. We were seated promptly and cocktails were ordered. Our diminutive martinis were largely gin flavored vermouth and not well made at all. My escargot and my wife's poached pear salad were top notch, as was the stuffed quail and venison which I found slightly overdone. Ending with a chocolate fruit cup was perfect. Perhaps a surprise sorbet to cleanse the palate might have help justify $200+ check."

  • "Excellent meal, excellent choices from their Prix Fixed menu. This is a special occasion type place for me. We went on Valentines day and we were not dissapointed."

  • "The food poor. The ambiance was charming except that the lighting was much too bright in one half of the room and there was no music for ambiance. There's an awkward wait when one arrives. The wait service was barely fair. the cocktails were stingy."

  • "The menu was expensive but the quality of the food was not there. You can find much better French restaurant elsewhere."

  • "Quaint, small French restaurant with owner/chef of 42 years."

  • "Our first time at the restaurant. First impressions OK. The menu was wide and varied. Chose the French Onion soup - it was OK. Then had one of the seafood specials. Again OK. Dessert - just OK. There's a theme here. The service started out a little shaky - we asked to substitute something on the menu and you felt you were putting them out. The service got better towards the end. Nothing intrinsically wrong with the whole experience - I just wasn't wowed enough to go back as (in my opinion) there are better options nearby. However if someone invited me to join them for a meal there, I'd go."

  • "We had a most enjoyable dinner at Le Lyonnais, my husband really enjoyed his Cassoulet and my Breaded Veal was moist and delicious. We will definitely be making a return visit."

  • "When you are in the mood for a great french bistro Le Lyonnais will not fail. It has the classics you would expect, Coq au Vin and Cassoulet, but also surprise with some nouveau French dishes. I was in town for business and happened upon the place. I would definitely revisit the next time in town."

  • "Not your average place ... Charming and quaint and a throw back to the era of owner establishments. This is my second time and I enjoyed it. Fine menu with interesting flavor combinations prepared fresh. Plan on 2 hours for lunch"

  • "Food quality limited-appreciate management's efforts to provide a fine dining experience but they miss the mark. Coq au vin: dated recipe, non-tender chicken is one example. Few diners on a Saturday night may be a symptom of Le Lyonnais' need to upgrade menu, improve food quality and ambience."

  • "We have dined at the Le Lyonnais several times. Latest visit was on New Year's eve with a party of four. Every thing, as usual, was "just right". Food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and setting combine for a friendly-relaxed-formal French country expereince.."

  • "This was our first visit to Le Lyonnais, where we went for New Years' dinner. The restaurant was outstanding. I had rabbit and quail, which was outstanding. My wife had salmon, which was equally good. The waiter recommended a wine to go with the dishes, and picked excellently. We will be coming back!"

  • "We have been there for the last two New Years eve nite, and we will be back next year if not sooner. great people, food and atmosphere. We thought the prices were appropriate for the great dinner and drinks. Service was exceptional. The waitress was very good and had a great accent, even though she was new."

  • "We had a delightful experience for New Year's Eve at Le Lyonnais. We usually don't go out for NYE because most restaurants are over crowded and the service and food quality is not the best, but this year we tried Le Lyonnais because we received a last minute availability email from Open Table and decided to give it a go. We had a lovely table by the fireplace, our server, Gail, was attentive but never rushed us, the food and wine were excellent. We will certainly return."

  • "New Years Eve dinner was very special. I love foie gras and for a little extra, they gave me a few slices with my delicious veal chops. Our waitperson said that if we call ahead next time, then Chef would be able to prepare the foie gras seared as an appetizer for me. We also had some wonderful tender venison with quail. The Escargots was tasty, not rubbery. So glad our friends recommended this lovely little restaurant!"

  • "We live only five minutes from this restaurant but over more than 26 years we had gone there only once, for dessert. SO, we decided to give it a try on a Friday evening when we did not want to drive far. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Friendly people, good food and nice ambience."

  • "When we made our reservation we noted we would be celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived there was no acknowledgment we were celebrating anything let alone that we actually had a reservation! The restaurant was severely understaffed, we only saw 3 wait staff for the entire restaurant. We waited to be seated at our table, we waited for the menus, we waited for our drink orders to be taken, we waited for our drinks, we waited for our appetizer order to be taken, we waited for bread, we waited for our appetizers to be delivered to the table, we waited for someone to take our dinner orders, etc. We were there almost 3 hours & the experience was neither tasty or enjoyable. Would not recommend to out-of towners or locals!"

  • "I have been going there for 40 years. The restaurant has been open for 41 years. The Owner and Chef Gerard and his wife Joan make you feel you are in their home. In fact you are. It is an old house with many small quite romantic rooms. In Fact it is their home as they live upstairs. It comapres with the best French cooking I have had any wherein the world incliding France. When I was in Corporate America it is whre I would take my important customers. Their food is reasoably prices and the service 5 star. The sertver we had the last time as been working there for 22 years. That in it's self says something.."

  • "This is our second time at Le Lyonnais. I had a middle of the road impression the first time and, unfortunately, a similar impression the second time. I do like the warm ambience and friendly staff, but I can't say I'm terribly impressed with the food nor the very slow service. We'd requested our bill and a to-go box and neither arrived until 30 minutes later. There were 6 tables with customers and 2 waitstaff so I'm not sure why it took so long. We gave it a second shot and I don't think we'll be going there again. It's unfortunate because we don't have a lot of options in the Acton area."

  • "We hadn't been back to this gem for about 6-7 years and we were happy to make the revisit. The food ( both of us had fish dishes) was excellent. It was prepared perfectly and presented well. The ambience was exactly what we were looking for -- a quiet dinner without a struggle to talk. The service was good but the server may may been a bit overwhelm. There's a lot of things Le Lyonnais is not, but what it is they do extremely well. We'll return in far less than 6 years."
