Le LocalGreat as always. Took friendsGreat as always. Took friends there for the first time and they loved it. One said she had the best quail ever as an appetizer. I had salmon tartar to start and the duck as a main. All good. restaurant is busy and hopping. open kitchen. looking forward to our next visit.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good not GreatWe were seating in the bar area, which has a little bit of a club vibe, and was full of hot, young, dressed-right eaters. While the food was excellent and the service good, I didn't find that a club atmosphere was conducive to relaxing and enjoying a meal. I don't mind loud(ish) and energetic restaurants, but the club vibe wasn't where I'd want to eat dinner again. They also had seating in the kitchen area and on a patio outside. If I was returning for a romantic 2-person dinner then I'd pick the patio next time for sure.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Dinner for FoodiesWhat a great experience it was. We were seated opposite the open kitchen. From start to finish we went with the chef's recommendations for the night. Great kitchen crew.
The somelier was perfect in helping us discover new wins and varietals to accompany our food. To finish it all off the dessert menu and the recommendation from the pastry chef were amazing.
Definitely will go back again.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent place to visitWe really had a very good time, service is little bit skow but very friendly. Food was amazing. Wines were very good thouhg they served them a little bit cold for my liking, seems they have been having trouble with cellar's temperature. Highly recommendable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly MemorableWe had a fabulous dinner at Le Local. Thoughtful, complex, and delicious cuisine. We will return soon!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDeserves it's fantastic reviewsCreative combinations using interesting spices and vegs combinations and sauces for the various entrees and appetizers we ordered. Waiters attentive non- intrusive or trying to speed up our exit for the next customer while some without reservations waiting in line. We were seated minutes after arrival. Two entrees ordered were halibut and duck. Both cooked perfectly with my mouth watering as I think back about dinner. For a tourist it was a bit of a walk from heart of Montreal, but only a short taxi ride back. Overall a winner for a Foodie, and both of us have taken cooking courses at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) not the one for spies, rather the one for spices.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIn the middle of nowhereLocation is a little out of the way. Getting there via public transportation is a challenge.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe strength of Le Local isThe strength of Le Local is definitivly it's kitcen. A diverse menu with some unusual but delicius preparations and presantations. An attractive wine list with wines not only from France as so many Montral restaurants seem to favour, and that complemented wit a knowledgale and pleasant (not snotty) sommolier.
The service, while very attentive, could be a bit more polished.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom out of townThree of my friends at at Le Local having found it by location and food rating score. We were from out of town attending a conference the next day at the conference center. Food was fantastic and they made a great apple martini for starters for me. There was a good variety on the menu and we lingered and talked for over two hours and was not rushed to pay the bill. I loved it!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good restaurant, wouldVery good restaurant, would recommend without hesitation. Original, tasty, comforting. Price was very reasonable for quantity/quality of food we had.
Wine Clerk was available and very helpful to help us in our selection. Would propose good matches for a reasonable price as well.
Appetizers IMHO, outshined the main dishes, but that is subjective and not that big of a deal.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat EveningWe had a terrific meal - great wine, melt in your mouth fish and the wonderful scallop & veal shoulder dish. Also recommend the lobster roll.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
