A word from Le Kensington Bistro
Le Kensington Bistro finds its roots in the Loire Valley childhoods of Jean-Charles and Sylvain, growing into its home in the modern and ever-changing Toronto restaurant scene. Kensington pairs the traditions held dear by its founders with an openness to experimentation and international influences. With a camaraderie born of years, they have quickly established themselves as members of the Harbord community and an engaging part of the Toronto restaurant scene.

Beef tartare was excellent! Beef Bourguignon was delicious - very tender beef cheek. Seared Skate was disappointing - too salty and the broth/sauce to oily; endive tasted too oily from the broth

After a second visit, I can say I will go again. Small and intimate resto. Friendly service. Food impeccable and typically french bistro cuisine. Recommandation: make some seasonnal addition to the menu or develop some daily "suggestions du chef"for the regular customers might be a good idea. Otherwise it is a pleasure to make my friends discover this place.

The small lunch menu is interesting. Croque Madame (Beef Tongue), Frites, side salads and Pulled Pork sandwiches were delicious. The Barbecued chicken sandwich was ordinary. The server was very pleasant, but very slow and mistakes were made in one of the drink orders.

We were greeted by the owner who is indeed french and we got a nice table on the patio. The food was incredible. I had beef cheek bourguignon which had been cooking for hours and it was so tender and in a light broth tasted marvelous. The wine suggested by the owner was just perfect. The neighborhood is funky but in a great way. This place is now high on our list when we visit Toronto.

I had booked for two people for lunch on a Saturday. This restaurant was registered as a 'Summerlicious restaurant participant' acording to the web site, however, when we arrive they told us they were not participating and didn't have our reservation booked. We nevertheless decided to stay because we didn't have much time to look for another place. The menu was not offering a wide variety of choices; on top of it, what was offered was typical food people eat in France in Winter (Boeuf bourguignon, etc...). The beer selection was reducted to 3 types of beer, one of which was not even available; the waitress was not in a rush to serve us; basically the experience was ordinary (to be nice !). I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend.

It is a classic bistro. If that is what you want you will love it. I can sometimes take a while for food to arrive, but it is absolutely worth the wait. No nuking going on here. Everything is fresh and made to order. Charcurterie is amaaazing. WIne list is small but staff are really good about suggesting what works with your order. Salted creme brulee is a MUST.
