Diner Reviews
  • "I treat myself to this restaurant every time they have a Dine around Seattle and Restaurant Week. Love the oysters on the half shell for the appetizers. And, the chocolate dessert is one of the best in town. All main courses are fabulous. Such a treat to sit and watch the sun set on the water by the window seat. Highly recommend!"

  • "We had the dine around seattle menu at lunch time and it was certainly good value for money. Enjoyed the pate for a starter and the trout was delicious. Nice creme brulee for dessert."

  • "Le Grand Bistro is one of our go to places when the weather turns out nice as it has great views of Lake Washington. The food is solid and some of the traditional French fare is great. My wife had the beef bourguignon and is was very good as usual. I had one of the specials (this time around the French dip) but it wasn't as good as I expected, bread softness and mushiness probably being the main issue as I prefer a crusty and crunchy bread. I will certainly return but may stick to the traditional fair and the great brunch options."

  • "Excellent food, with several daily specials. Excellent service as well. Our only complaint is that the noise level gets to be too much in the main dining/bar area-- and this is where the best views are. It's a little better in the south end of the restaurant. If you have trouble hearing, try this location."

  • "Food here is always good, service excellent. The view is spectacular. Desert: if you like chocolate like I do get pot de creme it's delish. Nice bar area. The only thing I am I opprehensive to order again is the duck confit: the first time I had it it was delicious I couldn't wait to come back, but when I did come back it wasn't as good as the first time. It was undercooked, they tried to cook it more but it didn't work out. So I wouldn't order it again so that I wouldn't disappointed. But otherwise I keep coming back here. It's nice."

  • "The service was excellent at this establishment. My husband brought me for my Birthday and we were given a seat with a wonderful view of the marina and Lake Washington. The ambiance was romantic and I asked for a chocolate Martini. The bartender crushed the chocolate from scratch and made me the best drink ever. We had a cheese plate and oysters that were outstanding. I chose the Beef Bourguignon and it was excellent."

  • "Service was rushed, one of our party received her dishes at the same time, inconsistent with others"

  • "It was our first time visit. We can see the marina with beautiful lakeside. We had asparagus salad which was so little portion, half shell oysters were fresh. We ordered steel head, chicken and steak. The fish and chicken were delicious but steak was tough to chew, the only thing we did not finished. French fries was good but looked messy with steak. The desert were tasty but not extra ordinary or lavish looking. The parking lot under the restaurant opens the gate after 7pm, so we end up not to pay for parking."

  • "Placed our order and later we were told they were out of that choice today!! Immediately came our first course which we would have changed if we had know that the entree was not available. Grumpy server...."

  • "We try to join up with good friends every month and try a new restaurant each time. This time we chose Le Grand Bistro Americain and were entirely pleased. We took advantage of the "Dine Around Seattle" special offerings. Each course was excellent. We all had the Beef Bourguignon which was fabulous. The food & drink service by our waiter, Kevin was superb as were his assistants. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommended!"

  • "Loved the decor, friendly and attentive staff, and the classic dishes. Very nice "Dine around Seattle" menu."

  • "Wish I could say the same about my service. Ordered scallops and waiter heard salad, so while they were fixing the mixup my dinner partner's food sat and got cold as she did not want to eat until I was served. Rest of the staff was wonderful and attentive."

  • "We had a large business group (8), and everyone was impressed and pleased with their meal and the ambiance. The service was gracious, and the views beautiful. The food was a bit slow in arriving, however, which is why I only gave 3 stars for service. The staff provided excellent service."

  • "My wife and I received the best attention and this place was magical."

  • "My son & I had wonderful burgers & fries, and my wife much enjoyed her duck confit meal. We were quite pleased with this fairly new establishment."

  • "We love the food here. It's consistently interesting, yummy and very well prepared. They only use the freshest ingredients, which is why all the dishes taste so wonderful. They have 5-6 specials that CHANGE all the time. I've never had the same thing twice, because the choices are so varied and I get to try new dishes. Just go, you won't regret it."

  • "We have been to the restaurant many times, but this was our first time for the Seattle Dine Around during lunch. The Dine Around menu was diverse and the food was terrific."

  • "The food overall was alright. felt as though it wasn't very French authentic. The bread seemed like it wasn't French enough. The mushroom soup seemed like it was from a local mass quantity soup maker vs. made from scratch. The Asparagus salad was bland. And the service was REALLY SLOW. I ran out of water and didn't get any again until the end of the meal. When my Steak Frites came out the blue cheese butter wasn't melting as if it got cold sitting up there to be delivered to the table. The frites were good. and it was REALLY LOUD in there. They need some sort of noise cancelling Sonics cushions or something. At times I couldn't hear my friend who was sitting across from me in the booth. Would I go back...no!"

  • "Great view of boats and lake. Food-wise, the appetizers were just OK. I had the asparagus salad and my wife had the pate de campagne. Main courses were much better: I had the fish special (Cod on a bed of mashed cauliflower with interesting potato pancakes). My wife had nicely seasoned mussels with fries. They serve a simple, good baguette for bread (but not as interesting as Grand Central or Macrina). Our desserts were crème brulee and chocolate pot de crème, both excellent. It was an enjoyable meal. Even with restaurant-week pricing, and just one beer, the total was over $80. Overall it was worth it to us, since we hadn't had French food in a while. But if you're just in it for the food and not the view, there are probably better values."

  • "We book for lunch on Sunday for dine around Seattle and they didn't honor that, because the restaurant have they own brunch special. Wish they excluded this in the advertisement."

  • "This was our second time eating at Le Grand. The atmosphere is lovely, and the restaurant looks out over docks in Kirkland. The cocktails are quite delicious and they have a good wine list. Everything we ordered was amazing. I'm confident there is not a bad choice on the menu. But, the crowning jewel is their sticky pudding. it comes in a whiskey caramel sauce and is a must-order."

  • "We go to Le Grand Bistro quite a bit. It's probably one of the best restaurant's in the area for food that is always top quality, and a little different but certainly not too different. Their daily specials are always interesting, and all the food is very fresh and done in well thought out "creations". Decent wine list but not as special as their food. Not cheap, but certainly very reasonable for the quality of the food."

  • "Consistently good food and service. Unlike the Beach Café (in the same area), I can count on having a timely business meal as the service is efficient and professional. It's one of our go-to places for business lunches."

  • "I booked a table at this restaurant for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and we both agree that the experience was wonderful. The menu, while not the largest, provided a great variety of meats, salads, soups, and even food fit for "picky eaters." The drink list was vast; I had a French 75 and my boyfriend ordered an Old Fashioned; our meals were delivered just as we were finishing our drinks. The meals were hot, flavorful, and aesthetically pleasing. We shared a crème brûlée for dinner (delicious) and were surprised with two chocolate wrapped in a little box on our way out. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and had helpful opinions. Overall, we both agree that we would like to go back as soon as we have an occasion to!"

  • "First time there, was Valentine's Day. Food was great as was the service. The place was full but was easy to talk and really enjoy the occasion."

  • "This place is the trifecta; great food, service and LOVELY marina, lake and mountain views. In fair or foul weather the duck confit, plats du jour and every delicious dessert will never disappoint you. Service and wine is top notch as well."

  • "My boyfriend and I enjoy food and wine and we prefer to take our time, share and talk about the flavors and truly "feed our souls". Le Grand Bistro Americain provided us this opportunity. The food was outstanding, the wine pairing fun and our server went above and beyond to make our evening special."

  • "We dined here with friends and found the food to be ok. Nothing horrible, nothing notable, just meh! Atmosphere was friendly and even a bit romantic. We did find the view of Lake Washington to be quite enjoyable. Waitstaff was very fine."

  • "Delicious food. Small portions even for lunch. Entertaining Waiter...over the top. Very nice wine...lack luster bread...and rediculous parking fee...$5.oo in addition to the ONE DOLLAR Le Bistro says is "Underground Parking is included". There is no where else to park even on a slow day."

  • "Overlooking the water is a plus at this easy going relaxed atmosphere restaurant that provides the eastside of Lake Washington with scrumptious delights. The lamb burger is wonderful, potato fries crispy treats, duck comfit delectable, salads are splendid and the specials are mouth watering temptations. The wait staff is wonderful with helping diners with dietary issues. The prices are in the reasonable range for special occasions."

  • "If you have a toddler, stay away from this place. They have no high chairs and don't make you feel welcome because of the kids. The manager seemed very annoyed by our kids and eventually made us leave as he made us feel bad when our 16 month started to be fussy."

  • "We had Christmas Eve dinner at the restaurant and it was a very pleasant evening. The food was really tasty, our server was great, and the ambience is always charming. My husband also commented how good his duck tasted and we all really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. It was a great place to kick off our Christmas festivities. We will be back soon!"
