I have been here a couple of times now and each was an excellent experience. This time we brought a long another couple, and they agree. Le Gigot is a restaurant worth going to again and again. You are warmly greeted as to head to the bar. Since it is small you would think the wait staff would be banging into each and every chair. Not here. It is a well choreographed dance. The food is fantastic! Tomatoes with goat cheese, asapargus soup, crab cake, and the escargot, all flavorful and delicious! The leg of lamb was tender and juicy. The rabbit was perfect. I loved the cheese course. Then an after dinner drink of port. The food and the service was impeccable. Be sure to make a reservation!

Le Gigot is a tiny restaurant but they have a surprisingly extensive menu. We shared mussels and an heirloom tomato salad with goat cheese as appetizers then rack of lamb and half grilled chicken as main courses. Everything was delicious and nicely presented.

When we don't go to Le Gigot with some frequency, we miss it--and our last evening there is a good reminder of why. What some call cramped we call cozy and we never have to shout in order to speak: so civilized. Oysters, calamari, a seafood salad main course special and hanger steak (all just the right sized portions) were complemented by a Cote de Rhone. Everything was excellent with the exception of the wine which was good enough but began to flatten too soon after being opened. Service as always, friendly yet professional. Without a reservation most are turned away because the restaurant books up.

I have eaten at Le Gigot many times and have always enjoyed the experience. It is an old-style Village neighborhood place where two people can still have a conversation. Warmly lit by candles and frequented by diners of all ages, Le Gigot is perfect for people who want dining to be the experience it should be--an opportunity to be together with people you enjoy talking to, rather than just sitting with a rowdy group and shouting to be heard. The food is consistently good, but not super creative or gourmet splashy--very traditional French fare. Always tasty.

Great food, somewhat traditional French. I had oysters and rabbit (which is not common in restaurants in New York or Paris). The sauce was deeply flavorful, the rabbit not too dry (as it often is). My dining companions were very happy with Boeuf Bourgignon and a special, crab cakes. One issue: the wine list seemed a bit conservative, constrained, and priced on the high side.

The restaurant is charming, like a little bit of the Left Bank in the Village. Staff was welcoming and helpful with wine and food selection. Dishes were attractively presented and tasty. I only regretted my decision to sit in a spot which I later realized left no room for pushing my chair back from the table a bit. The place is tiny.

If you love the Provencal experience and food, this is the place. Small, simple, relaxed, and refined, Le Gigot provides a neighborhood dining experience with classic southern French fare. The wine list is small but well appointed with wines from a range of French appellations. Pate and lapin were my selections accompanied with a reasonably priced St Emilion. Finished with the bread pudding. All delicious! Highly recommend Le Gigot and will be back myself.

This little jewel box takes advantage of every square inch to economize its space yet it's so typically French in its charm. I love that you can sit side by side. The waiters are very attentive and the food is great. We had a summer dinner where they and we took advantage of the fresh summer vegetables. In this case heirloom tomatoes with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Delicious. Le gigot, the lamb, was off the charts and not too heavy, cooked just right. The rabbit was meaty and stewed in a wine reduction sauce. Out of this world.

Wonderful spot in the West Village. Great food, superb service and a very cozy ambiance. Le Gigot is a small restaurant but delivers great French bistro food. We had escargots and an heirloom tomato salad as starters, seafood risotto and beef bourguignon for our main courses. We skipped dessert and had capuchino instead. Our wine was a white Bordeaux. Great evening

I'm not one to write reviews, but felt inclined to do so for Le Gigot because I had a truly wonderful dining experience. I found them by searching for high ratings in lower manhattan, priced at $$. The restaurants with 5 star ratings were from few people reviewing them, verses Le Gigot (along with La Esquina) had 100+ reviews, and still maintained a 4.5 star average. That impressed me enough to give it a try. The atmosphere was pleasant, warmly decorated, and made me feel like I was in France. We ordered the crab cakes (which have no filling!), oysters, beef bourguignon, and leg of lamb with potatoes au gratin. All were delicious and the presentation and service impeccable. I give them extra points for good taste in music..!(Leonard Cohen)

Le Gigot is a charming and intimate neighborhood restaurant that I have been to many times. Everyone I being is always taken with this French restaurant and its charming interior. The food is consistently good if not excellent, the wait staff is lovely, and the clientele is an unpretentious crowd. Le Gigot isn't a fancy restaurant--it's a small cafe, more comfy (if just a little crowded in...) more than elegant. What it is, is an excellent restaurant, with quiet and friendly and efficient service, excellent food (REALLY good, really French, fries, as a sidelight...), and good vibes. When we arrived, there was one noisy party, but once they left, it was only moderately loud, easy to talk, enjoyable all the way...

Unfortunately, the price to taste ratio here is not a good one. For a $30 dish, you expect some well delivered flavors - not the case here. While their bread is good, neither the seafood risotto nor the scallops really hit the mark for the price point. The staff was lovely, and the ambiance is quaint and charming.

I made reservations for this restaurant for a special occasion. I had the leg of lamb since the name of the restaurant is french for "leg of". The portion was bordering on "nouveau" but was superbly prepared. My spouse had the soft shell crab as the "daily special". That, too, was scrumptious. I thought the wine glass portion was miserly but may have helped to pay the rent. The creme brulee we had for dessert was one of the best we've ever had with a caramelized top so thick that you had to stab it with spoon to get to the custard. It's a noisy, tiny, narrow place with diners even eating at the small bar in the front which testified to the quality of the dishes.
