A word from Le Gigot
Provencal cuisine in an intimate, cozy setting. A zinc bar, banquettes, flowers, and an attentive staff ensure your comfort and satisfaction. Seasonal ingredients and simplicity of preparation distinguish our food.

This little jewel box takes
advantage of every square inch to economize its space yet it's so typically French in its charm. I love that you can sit side by side. The waiters are very attentive and the food is great. We had a summer dinner where they and we took advantage of the fresh summer vegetables. In this case heirloom tomatoes with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Delicious. Le gigot, the lamb, was off the charts and not too heavy, cooked just right. The rabbit was meaty and stewed in a wine reduction sauce. Out of this world."

Wonderful spot in the West
Village. Great food, superb service and a very cozy ambiance. Le Gigot is a small restaurant but delivers great French bistro food. We had escargots and an heirloom tomato salad as starters, seafood risotto and beef bourguignon for our main courses. We skipped dessert and had capuchino instead. Our wine was a white Bordeaux. Great evening"

A small neighborhood gem on
Cornelia St., Le Gigot is a quaint yet rustic bistro with a balanced French menu. Coupled with friendly service and nicely portioned fare, this is a regular spot for folks in the West Village."

My friend and I went here for a
quick lunch a couple days ago. It was nearly empty the whole time we were there, but I don't understand why. The restaurant is so adorable and offers great food at good prices (comparative to other NYC restaurants) with great service. Highly recommended!"

I'm not one to write reviews, but
felt inclined to do so for Le Gigot because I had a truly wonderful dining experience. I found them by searching for high ratings in lower manhattan, priced at $$. The restaurants with 5 star ratings were from few people reviewing them, verses Le Gigot (along with La Esquina) had 100+ reviews, and still maintained a 4.5 star average. That impressed me enough to give it a try. The atmosphere was pleasant, warmly decorated, and made me feel like I was in France. We ordered the crab cakes (which have no filling!), oysters, beef bourguignon, and leg of lamb with potatoes au gratin. All were delicious and the presentation and service impeccable. I give them extra points for good taste in music..!(Leonard Cohen)"

We spent a week in NYC celebrating
a special anniversary and Le Gigot was the highlight. One of the top five restaurant meals in the last thirty years. Attentive service, spectacular food, an all-star in every respect, and a most reasonable price to boot. Cannot praise this restaurant highly enough."

Le Gigot is a charming and
intimate neighborhood restaurant that I have been to many times. Everyone I being is always taken with this French restaurant and its charming interior. The food is consistently good if not excellent, the wait staff is lovely, and the clientele is an unpretentious crowd. Nightly specials round out a dinner menu that offers something for everyone--fish, chicken, pasta, lamb and beef. The salads are wonderful as are the deserts."

The food was great The service
top notch The overall restaurant appearance more than charming I am glad I left my comfort zone and tried something new in an old familiar neighborhood"
Dined on 7/26/2014
Le Gigot isn't a fancy
restaurant--it's a small cafe, more comfy (if just a little crowded in...) more than elegant. What it is, is an excellent restaurant, with quiet and friendly and efficient service, excellent food (REALLY good, really French, fries, as a sidelight...), and good vibes. When we arrived, there was one noisy party, but once they left, it was only moderately loud, easy to talk, enjoyable all the way..."

Food was superb and the owner was
very accommodating and considerate of our needs. Even provided a nice after dinner liqueur for my wife's birthday. Will come back soon and recommend to others. Wonderful find!!"

Love this restaurant on a quiet
Greenwich Village location. It's tiny, so be sure to make a reservation to enjoy the cozy atmosphere, friendly service and excellent food."
Dined on 7/20/2014
Best French restaurant in
Greenwich Village for years. We never go anywhere else for birthdays, Valentine's Day, special occasions. thank you & don't ever change x"

The service was nice the food was
ok. Nothing really stands out."
Dined on 7/18/2014
The service was incredible, very
attentive and friendly. The food was excellent (the duck, especially) and the ambiance was very intimate and quaint. Would recommend this to anyone. Probably not a great spot for large groups because the dining area is quite small."
Dined on 7/17/2014
Unfortunately, the price to taste
ratio here is not a good one. For a $30 dish, you expect some well delivered flavors - not the case here. While their bread is good, neither the seafood risotto nor the scallops really hit the mark for the price point. The staff was lovely, and the ambiance is quaint and charming."
Dined on 7/13/2014
This Greenwich Village gem never
ceases to charm. Food was excellent, perfectly seasoned and finished. It's a small space with a perfect wait staff to diner ratio. Service was excellent. We agreed that we need to come here more often."

Always excellent. I go every so
often and always enjoy the experience. I feel like I am back in Paris (food wise) but with NYC ambience and service."

place. Top notch in every way, but tiny."

Food was delicious, well prepared
and beautifully served. So happy to be able to have a conversation without shouting. Highly recommended."

I made reservations for this
restaurant for a special occasion. I had the leg of lamb since the name of the restaurant is french for "leg of". The portion was bordering on "nouveau" but was superbly prepared. My spouse had the soft shell crab as the "daily special". That, too, was scrumptious. I thought the wine glass portion was miserly but may have helped to pay the rent. The creme brulee we had for dessert was one of the best we've ever had with a caramelized top so thick that you had to stab it with spoon to get to the custard. It's a noisy, tiny, narrow place with diners even eating at the small bar in the front which testified to the quality of the dishes."
Dined on 6/27/2014
Very good French food and friendly
service. On that particular evening the restaurant was also pleasantly quiet. What more could one ask?"
Dined on 6/25/2014
How small, intimate restaurants
have operated successfully with the same management and chef for over 20 years. I have eaten at Le Gigot since it opened and have never, ever been disappointed - lunch, dinner, brunch - with enough variety and specials to be interesting. A very special experience."

We went to Le Gigot for our
anniversary.. Very welcoming people! Very good service, attentive but not intrusive. The food was good. The place was packed, tables are very close, but the noise is not too bad, so one still talk to fellow diners."

Le Gigot transforms you to Paris.
A charming place on charming Cornelia Street! The food is consistently delicious. This lunch we all ate crab, crab cakes, soft shell crab, prepared in a few different ways. All excellent! The staff are very attentive and obviously love their restaurant. Great for lunch, brunch or dinner. There are beautiful windows at the front of the restaurant that are wide open on nice days, so there is a lovely breeze wafting through the restaurant."

Went with my boyfriend and his
grandfather for dinner. When I made the reservation, I asked for a quiet table and the restaurant seated us in the back - it was quiet, but the pass-through to the kitchen was right there and I felt like waiters were overhead all night. Besides that, the service was accommodating and the food was great! Standard French classics done really well. Will likely return - particularly when family is in town - as the food is good and reasonably priced, and you can actually hear each other without yelling."

Le Gigot, a small French
restaurant in the West Village, is terrific. Four of us went there for dinner. Our favorites appetizers were the Charcuterie Platter and the Escargot. For mains, two of us had the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Rabbit - we loved it. My favorite of the mains was the duck confit, which consisted of both the leg and the breast - among the best I've ever had. One of us is a Francophile and travels to Paris numerous times each year. She kept saying this is as good or better than the food I get in Paris."

terrific leg of lamb and duck
confit with fabulous potatoes daphinois. the best fresh clams I think I ever ate. AND the best creme brûlée in our memory"

we had a wonderful evening"

This has become one of my favorite
restaurants. It is small, relatively quiet, with all food, wine, and even Belgian beer very carefully selected and prepared. It is not a trendy place that will go in and out of style. The owner and most of her staff have been there for quite a while, which makes it a place to settle into and treasure by comparison with restaurants that make a splash then disappear."

We dined at Le Gigot recently
during a holiday in NYC for our 35th wedding anniversary. Le Gigot were great, we had been recommended to them by some friends whose son lives in NYC. The staff were very friendly , our waiter especially and they even gave us a glass of champagne to help us celebrate. Le Gigot is a intimate little place that makes you feel at home and provides great service and the food was divine. It was like stepping into a Bistro in Paris! And the Greenwich area is really interesting too. We would definitely visit there again."

If you want to have the best
crabcakes in Manhattan and enjoy a sophisticated yet old-world ambiance and still be able to hear the voice of the person sitting across from you, this is the place. You will be able to savour world-class food and wine, as well as intimate conversation at the same time. I lived in France for two years, and I can truly say that the ambiance is true to its roots: You will feel just as comfortable wearing jeans as you would a designer dress and high heels."

A small and a bit cramped but
never fails to satisfy. A little off beaten path, this French restaurant serves great dishes for half the price of the 5-star midtown establishments, while not being far behind in service or overall quality. The place is by no means empty, however, same day reservations are usually available making it a great option for someone who ran out of options."
Dined on 5/30/2014
The size and noise level were no
surprise. The escargots starter was on the salty side and a bit overcooked. My rack of lamb was very good (and done just as I requested - pink); however, the second part of my request to skip the potato gratin and double up the vegetables was evidently ignored. Her arctic char was decent. My brioche pudding turned out rather boring, her rosemary ice cream was quite good. With 3 glasses of wine, the total was $140 before tip. In range of many other places....but other places also provide more consistent (better) food. Then the surprise - American Express only - so that meant a schlep to the nearest ATM. A mere 100 yards away, but annoying. All in all - not worth it, won't be returning."

I have been coming here for years.
Food is good as is the service. You will never be disappointed"
Dined on 5/23/2014
I've been going to Le Gigot for
several years now, and I've yet to have anything but a wonderful experience. My latest visit was for lunch, and it was very quiet-- we were one of only three tables. I had the scallops, and my friend had the nicoise salad. Both were delicious-- we didn't leave anything on our plates! Take note that Le Gigot only takes cash or American Express. It was my friend's first visit, and she was surprised by that."

Service was friendly and
attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal!! We would definitely recommend it to all!"

Loved, loved this small, quaint
French restaurant in GV! Lamb, duck and rabbit all on the menu...nice. However one of us chose the crab cake appetizer and the other the lamb leg. Both were excellent. The frisee salads were so fresh; crab cake had absolutely no breadcrumbs and the lamb leg cooked perfectly. We ordered a side of risotto which was to die for! Three scoops of gelato for dessert....yummy. The speed of service was the best we've had in a long time. Wine selection was nice and complimented our meal. The restaurant is small but that and all of the above is what makes this a place and meal to remember. "
Dined on 5/16/2014
Went here for dinner. I had the
frisee (very good but small) and the crab cakes entree (very good but expensive). Service was friendly and attentive. The place was ok."

The food was excellent; very tasty
without being too saucy. The service was very subtle and there when you needed it. The fava bean salad was amazing. "
