A word from Le Garage - Wiscasset
Le Garage Restaurant is so-called in recognition of the original use of this building. Constructed by the Rines brothers in the early part of the 20th century, the central structure was used for automotive and engine repair as well as blacksmithing. Le Garage was founded by Charlotte and Crosby Hodgman in the summer of 1974. They opened the restaurant as an ice cream parlor, sandwich and chowder house. Over the next few years they expanded their menu to include crepes and quiche establishing a reputation for innovation quality, simplicity and fair value. In 1977, their daughter bought the business and recruited a talented and committed staff which undertook to uphold the Hodgman’s standards while gradually developing the restaurant into its full service capacity of today. We are open year round except for the month of January.

The food and service were excellent, and the view out over the water was wonderful. Our table of four had a variety of dishes; all were well prepared and nicely presented. The meat and fish were cooked as requested, the salads were fresh and the vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. Everything was flavorful and delicious, including the homemade desserts! Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and very helpful.

We visit the Maine coast on a yearly basis to celebrate our anniversary. We found Le Garage on Open Table this past year. We enjoyed our meals (from appetizer to dessert!), the food was delicious, and the service was great. We were seated in a corner table and enjoyed the evening view along the water. The tables were close together and the group seated near us was a bit loud...but you never know who you'll be seated near where ever you go. Learn to navigate the "back roads" of Wiscasset to avoid the downtown intersection!...Sorry it took so long to submit a review.

Homestyle country dining. There is little choice in this area, and management makes one feel welcome and the ambiance is nice.

Both food and service were excellent. The wide variety of vegetarian options made it especially enjoyable for our daughter.

The view is spectacular at The Garage. The interior is also lovely. The had an expansive menu with a range of prices. I enjoyed that there was an omelette on the regular dinner menu. We both had it and it was by far better than any Ive had for breakfast. Will definitly go back.

We looked forward to eating at this restaurant for the first time but left disappointed. We were a party of four, each with a different seafood entree. The carmelized scallops, a restaurant week special, were delicious as were the salads, desserts and bread. However, the remaining three entrees ranged from okay to disappointing. The walnut crusted haddock, a customer favorite according to the menu, consisted of overcooked fish with a hard-packed disk of nut topping served with mashed potato and sauteed vegetables -- plain jane summer squash. Total bill, including drinks and tip, $200.

This is a fun setting with a great view of the river and a new chef who has improved the menu considerably. We were seated right at the windows, had great lunches all around and very fast and friendly service. It is definitely worth people going there - and the new chef has changed the menu, quality of food and selections. Its now really good. We live locally and brought out of town guests who loved it and we will be back frequently now.

disappointing. From the description, I thought we would have a nice dining experience with good food. The menu was interesting however, the food was boring, the dining area was bland and the service was spotty. This is a place to go to eat average food not to dine.
