  • "LeGarage is serving solid dishes, intelligently put together with fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly. The night I was there I had the grilled trout special. The trout was fileted, and had slices of onion, jalapeno, and cucumber inside. The flesh took on those flavors and was light and tender. The corn and tomato relish, fingerling potatoes, and grilled watermelon slice served with it just screamed summer, and made for a great Saturday night meal in July. Couple that with pleasing decor and lighting, professional service, and a good wine and beer list."

  • "Had a good dinner - good, not great. Waitress didn't give great recommendations. Everything we ordered that was not a recommendation was great though. Strange, I know. Drinks were refreshing and tasty. Beef was good, but way undercooked for medium rare. All of the fish dishes were great. Frites (what the restaurant is known for) were crispy and seasoned well. Good variety of dipping sauces - all delicious. Dessert was very good. The honey lavender ice cream was fantastic. Our waitress was nice, but a little out of touch with our table. The restaurant was extremely loud - acoustics were a product of the decor and the space. We would go back. All in all, it was a fun evening."

  • "Had a spectacular time. My husband and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary here and the food was extremely good. We loved everything from the Frites to the dessert. The $30 pre fix was a steal for the high level of food that came out of the kitchen. We are already setting a date to come back with friends and have spread the word of this neighborhood gem to friends and family."

  • "The drinks are amazing. Big beer selection & house made cocktails. Their version of a mule was fantastic. We ordered frites, frisée salad & whole trout to share. Everything was good but the fish for $28 was not big enuf to split which we were used to doing at Petit Louis.friendsordered burgers & 1 came out way overcooked. The waiter knew & agreed & he didn't do anything which was odd. I would go back but stick to the basics or try their late night menu."

  • "The vibe in the restaurant was ok. Beer list was perfect. However, the food was not good. A limited menu may deter picky eaters. I had the the grilled steak salad and it was inedible. The grilled romaine was doused in oil and turned my stomach. Fries were pretty good, but the dipping sauces weren't as fabulous as they wanted them to be. For example, the kimchee ketchup tasted like tomato paste. We expected a little more than that. The mussels were OK, but not any better than what we've had from other restaurants. We won't be coming back to this restaurant. Possibly would come back just for drinks."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here (we'd recommend the steak frites and the mussels), and the beer list is fantastic. We joke we were seated in the "kids' room," since we were kind of surprised to find an older crowd when we walked in, but we were seated in a back, separate room that seemed (I'm sure coincidentally) to be the spot for younger patrons. The main dining room was a bit noisy, but the back room was less so. Great service, too! We'll be back."

  • "Service was very good. Once again Open Table only allowed very early seating even though we sat in empty restaurant. Soup too salty. My frites were burnt with no "white meat" remaining. Not a few, the entire basket. Nothing special to drive me back."

  • "This was our second visit, and it was considerably better than our first visit. Grouper on a celery root puree was prepared to perfection, as was a fellow diner's steak. Living in Belgium I wan't sure what to expect with the frites. Many, even most, Belgian restaurants now serve flavorless, frozen fries (think Wendy's) so it was a most pleasant surprise that the frites were prepared to perfection. Service was attentive but never obtrusive. Two complaints: 1) Bare cement floors and little to absorb sound make for a noise level that makes conversation at the table at times difficult; 2) Good selection of cheese plates for desserts, but with few to no appropriate choices of wines or beers to pair with the cheeses. Something so fixable."

  • "We tried the $30 menu and one of us tried the flight of matched beers. The carefully planned menu was perfect with the good beers. Starting with a celeriac and arugula salad, mussels and frites for one of us, and a perfectly prepared pork chop for me. Interesting dressings and sauces. For dessert the chocolate stack of 1mm thin pancakes was a bit solid but surprisingly delicious with tne paired chocolate stout. My husband had a creamy orange molded dessert. The menu changes at the chefs inspiration and we will definitely return."

  • "Our initial encounter with the wait staff was first rate and the service continued to be excellent throughout the meal. I'm not fond of a one large room restaurant b/c it tends to be noisy, but we noticed a small room at the back when we left. Next time we will ask for that room! I oam a genuine foodie and the food was excellent, especially the celery root remoulade, which you almost never find on restaurant menus. The chef's signature friend chicken is the best we had anywhere. Eat your heart out KFC! Lois Schenck"

  • "Visiting my son on the weekend and thought we'd try this new restaurant. The atmosphere was busy and vibrant, bug suited to fine dining. Had a drink at the bar, and then were seated. Wait staff was professional, knowledgable and attentive. We shafted a Tartine which was excellent. My son had the mussels and frites, I went with steak frites. Both were top notch. My son sampled a very nice cheesed plate to finish,, while I sampled the lemon basil sorbet!! Wow. A great finish to a relaxing well prepared and served dinner. Highly recommend. We'll be back."

  • "The ambience was beautiful and everything felt more classy than "peasant-like" like I'd seen in some descriptions. The bavette steak was tough even though the chef cooked it just as I had asked. The server was pleasant and accommodating but she had trouble describing some of the dishes. All in all, it was a good experience- I hope they have much success."

  • "Dinner meal. Wife order: Croque Madame w side of frites - Excellent. My Order: 3 course prix fixe: App: Arctic Char, Entree: 30 mussels (nice presentation) w Frites; Desert: Chocolate Crepe Cake (outstanding layered crepes with chocolate mousse). Excellent meal. One cocktail. Great service. Price: 52 before tip. The Frites are excellent and probably unlike any "french fry" you'll find around Baltimore. Small carryout above restaurant level serves them exclusively to patrons at 4.50 per, probably good value given the portion size. Service was excellent, but server was probably at her limit for tables."

Nice décor: Battleship gray floor color segues to blue trim and cubic shelving room divider; nice use of glass shelving on recessed brick wall adorned with complementing knickknacks."

  • "First time at Le garage. Looks even more like a dungeon now than in its Dagwood days. Terrible acoustics. My dinner - spring salad, a rock fish special, and a chocolate crepe cake, was delicious. My wife was very disappointed in the mussels - too small for their supposed signature dish. (A gentleman seated next to us had the same complaint). Menu was quite limited, not alot of choices. I can see this as a neighborhood place to get beer and burgers, but I won't be traveling to it - way more interesting menus right on 36th Avenue!"

  • "Good service. Bad noisy, dark underground dinning that seemed more like a pub during a futbol match rather than a 3$ sign restaurant. Food was overpriced especially considering the small portion size. I had the smallest (smaller than little finger nail) mussels I had ever seen (the shells were average size) . Frites were just salt. No sauce when served with entree. Everything was taken to the extreme, It is not classic French. Paid $71 for two apps and entrees (no drinks) and left unsatisfied and disappointed after reading the good reviews. Read the menu on their website and make sure that is what you want. I will not return."

  • "Not impressed. Too much money for soup and sandwich and not even a good sandwich. My soup needed seasoning which I had to ask for since it wasn't on any table. I realize that upsets chefs but maybe he/she should have tasted it. The omion soup on the other hand was too salty, should have tasted that one too. The bill was over a hundred dollars for four people with only two drinks. Can't recommend this place."

  • "Our first visit to Le Garage was a hit! We were a bit confused when we first arrived because we didn't see the door that leads downstairs into the restaurant. We immediately grinned ear to ear when we got inside. It was a surprisingly large, well-decorated space that seemed to have come out of nowhere. The music was tasteful and the bathrooms were very clean. The food was fantastic. My wife got deviled eggs, and frites with a special garlic sauce. I got frites with a homemade ketchup, a burger, and a beer. We finished off with Taharka Brothers' ice cream. My only qualm (a small one at that) is that the bun for the burger seems disproportionately thick. We'll return and we'll bring friends."

  • "Decided to try a place new to all of us, we were all impressed. The signature frites were divine, addictive, hot, thick, fluffy and moist interiors, deep brown, crisp exteriors, sprinkled with coarse salt. Tried the Lemon Aioli (slightly bitter, rich and light) and Kimchi Ketchup (not much like kimchi, sweet). Roasted Marrow Bone app was over the top, parsley salad with capers just the right accompaniment. Country Fried Country Pate was somewhat disappointing in size and execution. The special soft shell was a dish that highlighted the best of summer in Maryland. Dishes were thoughtful, executed well, seasonal, truly delicious. Great draft beer list and skilled mixologist behind the bar. Wine list is limited but well-selected."

  • "We stopped by for happy hour - my only issue is that they don't have happy hour specials! Despite that, Le Garage is still 100% worth visiting. The cocktails are really unique and fun, there's an extensive beer list and a pretty good wine selection. We didn't try any entrees, but got two orders of frites. The bacon ranch was classic and super delicious. The black truffle aioli was also delicious. I'll definitely be back for a full meal. "

  • "We love this place! It's become one of our favorite spots on the Avenue. There is something on the menu to please everyone. We are fans of the steak bavette - which is melt in your mouth amazing! The pork chop is done to perfection, and the tartines are a fresh light appetizer before any meal. The chef here does an incredible job with all of the food offerings. She pays particular attention to using the freshest ingredients of the season, which is obvious in the often changing menu. Oh, and we can't say enough about the frites....well they are just the best. Nothing like them in Baltimore! We love to try a new dipping sauce each time we go, there are so many choices. Ah, the desserts are wonderful too. Can't wait to go back again!"

  • "I really loved what they did to the place as it certainly gives you a "Garage"feel. I didn't necessary thing i got value for price. I had a burger and to be hojnest it was more like a fancy Slider than burger. Burger bun was a little too toasted. Crab dip was good. I live and eat in the area and in truth i can say it was my greatest dining experince or that it is my favorite restaurant in Hamoden."

  • "We really enjoyed our food at Le Garage. Between us, we had the spring salads (very fresh, large, and light), the French Onion soup, a tartine (open faced sandwich made of goat cheese, apple, and jalapeño - the jalapeños did not make the sandwich too hot to eat), and frites with two sauces. I loved my cocktail - Oaxaca démodé. For dessert, we tried an incredible bread pudding made from croissant. Fantastic. I thought the service was good, but the music was unnecessarily loud and detracted from our experience slightly because we couldn't really hear ourselves speak. An easy fix. We go back and try more items from the menu."

  • "Because I eat "healthy" it was hard to put together a meal. I wish they had offered one clean dish line a vegetable salad with chicken crab or shrimp. Thought about combining the crab cocktail with their salad but that got expensive. So I just blew it and had their pomme frites which were delicious ,as was the asparagus and deviled eggs.. All good .. Maybe I just can't eat in afrench restaurant although I love petit Louis and repeatedly find healthy options there. I hope they succeed... Fun environment..pleasant server.. Nice wine.. Casual.. "

  • "We went for the first time this week -- food was great, hand-crafted cocktails super great. All of us enjoyed the variety of plates that we ordered. Fries were awesome, but much thicker than a traditional Belgian frite (I prefer them thinner). We all also commented that the frite sauces could have some more punch to them, they were pretty laid back. Mussels & Tartines were AWESOME as well as the cold asparagus soup. We will definitely be back."
