Le Fou Frogamazing!I took my wife here for our anniversary, and it was the best date night we could have hoped for! so many great options you won't find anywhere else, and definitely won't be as good anywhere else!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service! Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the various meats, cheeses, and drinks we ordered. My kangaroo was a little overcooked, but my wife's duck was delicious.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMStill one of my top choicesLove this place and it continues to be one of my top choices in Kansas City!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!!!Saturday my wife and i visited for dinner, and were more than delighted. From drinks, including my Arnold Palmer made with Pellegrino frizzante lemonade, to awesome salads (one goat cheese, one Caprese), to entrees (one Stuffed Sea Bass, judged 'likely the best fish ever' by my NJ Italian American Carmela, who has had lots of fish, to my first taste of kangaroo, which i loved) to desserts ... most excellent. Then there was Ashley, my new favorite server ... perfect balance of attention and helpfulness without any pretension or overbearing phoniness .... made us feel like we were in her home. A++, cannot wait to return. Thank you!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFun & deliciousWe had a terrific dinner & time. Lisa's singing was a special treat, thank you!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionThe gem of KC. Wonderful overall experience. Attentive & knowledgible staff. A first class dining experience that gives you a touch of France in the River Market5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service, and ambiance.Great food, service, and ambiance. We had the foie gras, elk, scallops, and a cheese plate, all with paired wines. It was fantastic.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Dinner with FriendsMy friends are moving to Colorado, so before the move and nice dinner in the City...........of course only one place to go for a special occasion, the Frog. The wait staff was great, the food (soft shell crab), trout and veal, were all excellent.
Just a wonderful special evening, made even more special at the Le Fou Frog.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUnderstated building = great foodLe Fou offers unique, quality, & great tasting dishes. They offer food like kangaroo, sea bass, rabbit, and other dishes not typical to KC. I've always been told by others it is their favorite restaurant, and I would agree. And the setting is great. As in the tradition of KC, the best restaurant gems do not appear flashy in new buildings, but rather understated architecture, with a focus on great food.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways outstandingLe Fou Frog always delivers an outstanding dining experience. It's our go-to romantic restaurant. Sometimes it's quiet and sometimes it's crazy busy. Either way, the food is always outstanding and the service good, although sometimes a tad slow when they're really busy. But the servers are all very knowledgeable and full of personality. It's never a dull experience dining at Le Fou.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Fou, c'est bon!We had a wonderful time at this restaurant - the food was presented beautifully, everything was well-timed, and the staff were discrete and courteous. I would definitely recommend this.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery intimate. Great drinksVery intimate. Great drinks and excellent food. Relaxed atmosphere and vibe. The spirt is very avante-garde.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Fou Frog is a bit of ParisThe owner is the Exec. Chef and just plain fun as he circles the tables. It is a classic French Bistro. Good bread, wine, specials and a reliable regular menu of classics and favorites. Get your fix of Fois Gras, Sweetbreads, escargot, garlic, rabbit, elk, fresh seafood, and all the fixings. Deserts tend to be limited to the classics, but who can resist creme caramel or pot du chocolate. Specials depend on the farmers and purveyors. Our regular for a great meal in a cosmopolitan atmoshere. Young crowd on the bar side, older food experienced couples and 4-somes in the dining room side (or younger couples looking for the romance of Paris to set the evening tone).5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date resturantThis was my 4 th trip to Le Fru Frog and it was great everything tasted wonderful and the service was great and personal . Cant say enough good things about the crazy frog !5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA dash of Europe in KC's menuIf you get tired of all the steak houses in the area, La Fou Frog is the place you should visit. Actually, you should visit La Fou Frog no matter what!
Excellent food, outstanding service, friendly and welcoming atmosphere just to begin with. La Fou Frog offers French cuisine at its best and european experience at it's most interesting.
HIghly recommended :)5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMfabuleuxLove the french speaking waiter, good wine and best fish I have had in awhile! Everything was perfect!!! merci!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBy far my favorite restaurantI give Le Fou a five star rating because it is the best in Kansas City. I have eaten the best meal of my life under this roof. The Kangaroo is to die for, and if paired with Foie gras, you will never forget each bite.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceGreat place to spend a holiday with family or just a special night with a friend.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFou Frog is always a treat.Fou Frog is always a treat. The food excels, and the atmosphere is funky in the best sense of the word. The wine list is heavily French, perhaps all French, but all price points are represented. We shared the snails appetizer and a beet salad, and then each had the fish specials: all perfect. We keep coming back and are always happy when we leave.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutrageous rack of lamb!!!I was fortunate enough to go to the restaurant when they had rack of lamb as a special dish for that night. One of the most memorable meals I have ever eaten!!! Glad I chose it over the fabulous looking steak they offer on a regular basis. My only disappointment was that they were out of high-end vodkas for a martini. What? A French restaurant that was out of Grey Goose early on a Saturday night??? I had the French martini but I would not order it again as it is on the sweet side of the spectrum.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PersonalityEnergy, warmth and love seem to make it into the food and spill out of the kitchen into the dining room.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time the charmThe first time we went to Fou Frog we thought it was good but nothing to write home about. The second time my husband raved for days afterward. Of course there were several years between visits. Close quarters, but everyone kept their conversation voices down and did not interfere with neighbors. The food as well as the service was fantastic. They knew we were going to the symphony afterwards and made sure we had plenty of time. They said to allow 2 hours and we were glad we did. Very relaxing.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Le Fou Frog! This is my husband and my favorite restaurant in KC. Every time we go to Le Fou Frog we enjoy ourselves and eat way more than we need to because it is all so delicious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been planning to tryWe have been planning to try Le Fou Frog for quite some time and my birthday seemed the perfect occasion.
I actually expected more of a "French" ambiance. The waitress was nice, but very much "American" café. It would have nice
to have had some French music rather than light rock!
My husband had the French Onion Soup and would have liked more "soup". It was more like a porridge of onions, but had a good flavor. The Lobster bisque was very good. My husband had Pepper Steak and I had the Lobster Tails in Champagne/vanilla sauce. Both were very good, however, the lobster tails were rather chewy. The profiteroles were excellent for my dessert. My husband's Strawberry Napoleon was good.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMRare Food, Well doneI NEVER have given 5 stars but I didn't hesitate here. The crown rack of lamb, the pate maison, the gazpacho, the creme brule, the short ribs.........magnifique! Marissa is a peach. Ask for her table.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Crazy FrogThis restaurant is a beautiful little gem in Kansas City. My wife and I enjoy this restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. I love the food; my wife doesn't enjoy French food, but still likes the ambiance. The bar is well stocked, and the bartender makes a fabulous martini with a generous pour. From my perspective, the prices are very reasonable, even inexpensive, for French food compared with other cities.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome French Find in KCThis restaurant was amazing. Impeccable service, great food and the bonus of singing by wait staff.
When they found out that it was the couple at the next table's anniversary they gave them champagne. When they found out my husband was celebrating something for work they gave us a free dessert and after dinner drink.
Best food I have had in a long time and they had an extensive list of specials.
If you are in Kansas City it's a must -- especially for celebrating.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliicious, great menu selectionsDeliicious, great menu selections and service is always knowledgeable, professional and great!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Fou Frog continues to beLe Fou Frog continues to be the best restaurant in Kansas City!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful. If you haven't been here, go. It doesn't get much better.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy companion and i ate thereMy companion and i ate there on a busy Saturday night. I had eaten there several yrs ago and he never had. He had the filet and i had duck. Everything we had was well-prepared and was delicious. But it wasn't exceptional. And the service was perfunctory, bordering on condescending. i had the impression that the experience would have been better if we had been "regulars." It seems that this restaurant already has enough regulars and isn't looking to add new people to the mix. For the price, i expected better. Make no mistake, the food was good and the wine list was interesting, but i have spent this kind of money all over KC and been much happier with the overall experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHow, how, how do they pullHow, how, how do they pull off so many dishes, and do them all so well? Fou Frog is consistently wow.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest date night ever!I took my wife out on a date night here and she told me it was the best one yet. Between the accommodating service, authentic French atmosphere, live impromptu entertainment, and exceptional food, you can't go wrong! We are coming back without a doubt!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother epic meal at Le FouAnother epic meal at Le Fou Frog. Service was quite slow early on in our meal without explanation and that is the only recommendation I'd have for improvement.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI have always had outstandingI have always had outstanding food here. There is a standard menu and then a list of specials. Not price specials but unique items that are not typically on the main menu. We brag about the food here to everyone.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went forMy husband and I went for dinner at Le Fou Frog to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. We made a reservation through opentable that day for 5pm dining time. We were the first patrons to arrive. We were quickly seated. The owner came to our table several times to check on us. We ordered an appetizer of Escargot, that was AMAZING! Also, I ordered a soup, sweet potato curry bisque, it was very, very spicy and was taken off of our bill. My husband's duck salad was delicious. Our main dishes were chilean sea bass, and my husband had the quail. AWESOME! Both dishes were fantastic! We left a 19% tip and later came to note that the resturant has a 20% min tip policy. The only hiccup.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. Cozy atmosphere.Amazing food. Cozy atmosphere. Very romantic with a vintage feel to it. The wait staff sang songs! Perfect place to bring a date. We loved it.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Fou Frog is no FouI love Le Fou Frog - it's a gem. They were able to accommodate a surprise fifth on our reservation for four without missing a beat. Got us well fed and off the the show without a hitch. Great food. Great staff. Great fun!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommend!First time there, fantastic food, wonderful wait staff, overall, wonderful experience!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Le Fou Frog livesAs always, Le Fou Frog lives up to its reputation!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy new favorite restaurantLe Fou Frog is my new favorite restaurant. After getting out of the theatre 45 minutes late, we were one-half hour late for our reservation. The hostess was extremely nice, and she seated us anyway. The food was incredible, and the staff were extremely well trained and attentive, but also very genuine and friendly without being intrusive. I loved the French, stylish, intimate atmosphere of the restaurant and the special touches they provide (such as the chocolates at the end of the meal). The creme brûlée is the best I've ever had, and since it's my favorite dessert, I've tried it at many restaurants. I think Le Fou Frog is a wonderful all-around dining experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable good variety, particularlyReliable good variety, particularly fish dishes. Festive atmosphere. Not quiet enough for relaxed conversations, romantic, business, nor otherwise.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal! This is always one of our standard 'go to' places for a special occasion. Service is always outstanding. Ashley was terrific. The food was wonderful, great atmosphere. We have absolutely no negatives whatsoever!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the veal sweatbreads,I had the veal sweatbreads, the thymus gland of veal, it was out of this world. I've eaten all over the world and have never had something quite like his. Having been to France, I can attest to he fact that Le Fou Frog truly exemplifies what French food is all about. When I eat at Le Fou Frog I feel as though I'm sitting down to a meal in he Latin quarter!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had one of the best dinnersWe had one of the best dinners we have ever had and the service as equally amazing!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!!This was the second time we had dined there and the experience was outstanding as was the first time! It was our anniversary, the first time was our engagement. From the easy atmosphere, excellent service and food, we highly recommend Le Fou Frog!
Sincerely,
Bill and Deb Calvin4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had 7:30 reservations andWe had 7:30 reservations and didn't get seated until 8:30. We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order at the table and did not get served out meals until 10 PM. But the owner/servers were delightful. There were a singer who would perform briefly after 9PM who had a lovely voice. Over all a great experience but next time I will make an earlier reservation so we can eat sooner.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a place to go when oneIt's a place to go when one is not too concerned with the price. We were there to celebrate and so we had everything we wanted, both food and wine. They have very good food with many selections to offer. The service was very good. The atmosphere was very good, like a french Bistro, although I have never been to France. Go there and have a good time.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDoug & AliceWonderful service, fine wine and fantastic food......what more could you want.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding meal in everyOutstanding meal in every regard.
