Le ForetExcellentThe service was polite, prompt, and knowledgable. The food was exquisite (we had the Chef's Tasting Course). The only thing that kept it from being five star instead of four is that the view from the open floor to ceiling windows was a huge, vandalized parking garage. I think if perhaps the windows were closed it would be a little better for the ambience, but it wouldn't stop me from coming back. Overall, a phenomenal dining experience that we will remember.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA Very Nice RestaurantWow, a restaurant in New Orleans not obsessed with Creole/Cajun cuisine and gumbo soup.
Discovered this gem thanks to reviews and very glad we went. The place is spacious by restaurant standards in that the tables are not on to of each other.
The menu is creative without becoming a cliche. The service was efficient without being rushed. The food was nice presented and the portions were of reasonable size. The desert choice was difficult as they all looked and sounded good.
By all means, go there. You will not be disappointed.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMInterior was great.
ConfusingInterior was great.
Confusing to find out where to park. Need to have valet stand that has sign on it for Le Foret.
Very creative menu amd good wine list.
Appetizers were way out of line on price - particularly the Crawfish Gnocchi which was $15 for a tiny amount of food on an enormous plate. The Gulf Fish and Soft Shell Crab Entrees were excellent.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined on a Saturday eveningWe dined on a Saturday evening for a graduation celebration. After spending a week in NOLA, eating at many highly rated restaurants, everyone in our party agreed that the food and ambiance at Le Foret was the best. Every selection ordered was excellent. The service was very good and the wine list has many interesting options.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food & atmosphere! My husband, our teenaged son, & I dined at Le Foret on Friday night. It was wonderful! I had the fois gras appetizer--cooked perfectly & a large portion--; the soft shell crab entrée--crispy, perfectly seasoned & fried to perfection with a delicious corn maque choux & green salad; & a sampler for the table of desserts--the coconut cake was my favorite! Our waiter, Mauricio, was attentive & friendly. My husband has a severe dairy allergy, & they are always ready & able to prepare him something delicious that is within his dietary restrictions--he had an heirloom tomato salad & the triple tail fish entrée--both of which he loved! I don't remember what my son had, but he loved everything & ate up every bite!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a fantastic find!Very, very nice restaurant comparable to other five starred restaurants in the city. if available try the tasting menu, excellent cuisine for a reasonable price. On my permanent list for New Orleeans!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu with additionalTasting menu with additional items available, allows you to personalize your dining experience. Very nice for a special occaision4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Foret is specialThe food was marvelous and the service terrific. The Fois Gras was truly amazing, and the fish was absolutely delicious. The waiter, Mauricimo (sp?) was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time there. Food,Our first time there. Food, ambience, location, vibrant, parking....all totally awesome. I was, however, disappointed with the service. We got very little attention and barely saw our waitress. It was almost like we weren't there. Despite that, definitely worth a return visit.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMValet parking at JW MarriottValet parking at JW Marriott around corner provided by the restaurant - a much appreciated perq in NOLA's Central Business District near the French Quarter. Staff very friendly. Sazarac & Brandy Milk Punch to start, classic New Orleans drinks, the Sazarac was bitter and the BMP more resembled a chocolate frappe with Nestle's Quik Powder. The Moet champagne was nice. The waiter graciously offered to remove or replace the BMP, the replacement was basically the same. Good effort, seems the problem was behind the bar. Lobster & Champignons appetizers, redfish entree excellent. Lamb entree outstanding. Will definitely go again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant. My onlyGreat restaurant. My only complaint is that I felt like the waitress was rushing us.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe prices were moderatelyThe prices were moderately high here, although far short of budget busting. More importantly, the quality of the food and service were very much in line with amount charged and there was good value delivered. Everyone in our party of four was well-pleased with their choices.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant, quiet, and near Canal StWe were so happy to find this wonderful restaurant, not far from the French Quarter in distance, but worlds away in atmosphere and quality.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is awesome--fresh,The food here is awesome--fresh, local, & seasonal! They are more than happy to work around our dietary issues (food allergies). We have even had a great private party on the 2nd floor!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for business dinnerVery attentive wait staff. Good food and great place to bring clients and have a good conversation.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb!!!!Great dinner. We were almost scared away by low ratings. Then the first floor window showed the restaurant to be not so full. But the main dining room is upstairs. Food and service were excellent. This was a definite keeper4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party of seven had a greatOur party of seven had a great dinner and wonderful service by Gerardo! Highly recommended snapper ran out half way around the table! We will have to come back.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTastefully prepared and presentedWe had the red snapper with crab meat - tastefully prepared and presented. Although recent news accounts caution that true red snapper can be hard to find (counterfeits abound), in this restaurant in New Orleans they served the real McCoy. An extensive wine list that featured some wonderful wines at reasonable prices - look beyond the typical Cabs for the bargains. Dining room is conducive to conversation.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the lobster salad andI had the lobster salad and shrimp risotto. Food was excellent and the ambiance perfect.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious as always!Food was delicious as always! Great place to celebrate a special occasion.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThere were 5 of us in ourThere were 5 of us in our party. Food was very good. Everything was prepared with care and at a high level. We particularly liked the Red Snapper and Beef Tenderloin. Between the five of us we tried nearly all the appetizers and they were excellent. For dessert I thought the Truffle chocolate cake was average but the coconut cake and toffee tart were particularly good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for fine dining.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest kept secret for locals.Every time I have been here it has been over the top. The waiter was swamped and failed to ask us for cocktails. That was the only shortcoming. The food was imaginative and served piping hot with a nice presentation. The wine list in very eclectic and intriguing. I am not a fan of foie gras. They offered a PBJ foie gras that was incredible. What an odd combo but the best I have ever had. I had the scallops with a house made pasta and they were light and quite delicious. Excellent experience and wonderful wait staff. The waiters I have had were very knowledgable and energetic. I prefer Mauricio he is great. I have had him on two occasions.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding experienceAn outstanding experience on a quiet Monday evening. The menu offers many tempting choices. We picked the shrimp risotto and goat cheese ravioli and were very pleased with both. The dining room is attractive, suitably dark, and quiet. Service was perfect, there when we needed someting, invisable otherwise.1/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
