One of the top tier restaurants in New Orleans. Only problem we had was that they were out of 2 of the 8 entree's. Watch the bill - we were charged for 3 entrees, and had only 2.

We had an early, light dinner on Saturday November 15th before heading to the theater. We ordered cocktails, 2 appetizers and 1 salad. What I'm going to write has to be taken in the right way. As soon as we sat down to dinner both of us didn't feel right. We had eaten lunch around 12:30 that afternoon and we thought that something may not have agreed with us. Therefore, that being said we ended up not being very hungry and forcing ourselves to eat something so that we wouldn't feel starved at 11 pm when the show ended. I'm not sure if our taste buds were affected because of this. We started with the special appetizer of the evening -- fried oysters with caviar -- it was average.. the oysters not particularly as crisp as they should have been... the caviar was good... the dish needed a bit of seasoning. The next appetizer was foie gras 3 ways... we love foie gras... 2 of the foie gras offerings were good but the 3rd was very bland. Lastly, we ordered a beet salad... the beets were good but the dressing on the lettuce part of the salad was so salty that we deemed it inedible... the waiter was kind enough to take it off of our check. The waiter was attentive and provided excellent service. I will try this restaurant again. I don't think we could give it a proper rating at this point. The people next to us seemed to be enjoying their meal and we heard them say that the duck was delicious.

The restaurant was full on a Friday night and the service was excellent! The food was even better. I had the scallops and shrimp with couscous and my wife had the duck. Delicious! Unlike some other fine dining restaurants, the serving size was generous. We shared the foie gras with the Blue Cheese Panna Cotta and beet salads. All were delicious. The wine by the glass choices were sparse but excellent. The wine by the bottle list is extensive. The molten chocolate cake was decadent and memorable. It was a true pleasure to see a well run dining room with the entire staff running at top speed, "making hay while the sun shines." We had a most memorable meal to celebrate our anniversary.

My husband and I had a 7:00 reservation. We got our menu and ordered pre-dinner drinks. And waited for them. And waited. The waiter took our dinner order. A lovely "amuse" came but no drinks. Drinks came MUCH later. And after that we felt rushed. We were out of this fine restaurant in well under an hour. Food hints: If they have soft shell crab when you're there, don't miss it!

I had read the reviews and a friend told me about this place. My appetizer BBQ shrimp which the sauce was ok, but the shrimp were very small. My scallops were tasteless and my husband's Cowboy steak had a steak sauce on it. The bread was very good and the Lemon curd dessert was refreshing. The waiter took forever to pick up our check and we told him in the beginning that we had a concert at 8:00 pm.

Just off Canal Street (on the opposite side from the Vieux Carre) Le Foret offers modern cuisines inspired by French classics in a truly lovely setting. The room has high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows on two sides is well separated from the bar. The noise level was very civilized, the background music was at a very good, low level (and there was none on Thursday night as opposed to Saturday) and the service is exactly the right mix of efficient and friendly. Help with the wine list was both knowledgeable and friendly and our server took great pains to help.

When we first arrived at the restaurant the service was good, everyone was attentive. The waiter who took our food order, however, was gruff and somewhat unprofessional in my opinion. They have a nice wine list and we found the food (especially the appetizers) to be excellent. At the end of the meal we waited for over 15 minutes for our check before actively trying to flag a server down for several minutes before we could get someone to bring the check. We were one of only two parties in the restaurant at that time. It then took several more minutes to flag someone down to take our check. All in all, an excellent dining experience almost ruined by poor service.

I live in Charleston, SC, and we have some pretty good seafood also, but the red snapper I had at Le Foret was as good as any I've ever had anywhere. The service was attentive and jovial without overwhelming us - it was prefect. A quite place with few tourists and gorgeous decor. The menu is limited but diverse, which certainly contributes to the quality of the food - do what you do and do it well. Highly recommended!

I was a little disappointed with the portion size on the courtbouillon, but it was very tasty. The other dishes at the table seemed normal-sized, and the dessert portion was just right for sharing. The $27 prix fixe lunch is a great deal, and all the lunch entrees are very reasonably priced. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, and the food is beautifully presented as well. Service was good, and the restaurant was very quiet - it doesn't seem like word has gotten out about Thursday & Friday lunch service that started last month. They validate parking at the JW Marriott right next door, which was very convenient. I'm likely to return the next time I'm in the CBD during lunch service.

What a memorable meal! Everything here was top notch. Service was very attentive, and gracious. We had about 4 servers all around us taking care of everything. The food was phenomenal- I dine out regularly and this was a cut above the rest. I had the pb&j foie, lobster salad, duck, and praline cheesecake. An amuse was sent out as well which was a lovely touch. It was just a "tad" dark- I am in my 30s and had trouble reading the wine list etc. Such a minor complaint though- if anything it helped me ignore the classless people in jeans and shorts. What happened to dressing for a night out? Overall I will return, and recommend this place heartily.

After hearing great things since the place opened, I finally decided to go for Restaurant Week. The maitre'd ignored me and then seemed surprised that I had a reservation and wanted to dine. I wasn't given a Restaurant Week menu until I asked for it and then it was literally tossed onto my table. The server team couldn't have cared less that I was in the dining room. The food was passable, but nothing more. Being a born and bred New Orleanian, I expect more from a restaurant. I'll never go back and never recommend it.

The food is outstanding, and worth the expense. The service is poor, which is the best I can define it. The waiter was inattentive, and made many mistakes by merely not listening to the customer, and that was in just the first 10 minutes. This continued thru most of the dinner. He did do a little better job near the end of the meal. They could do with some serious waiters, who take their job as seriously as their the cook clearly takes the food.

I visited Le Foret to try their new lunch service due to an advertised 50% their prix fixe + free dessert (seen on credible news sources like the Gambit). The waiter had no idea what we were talking about when we asked about the special. He said he may just not know about it, but never asked. The lunch special is 2 courses for $27. I don't think I would have opted in anyways because the offerings felt more like dinner specials rather than a quick lunch. I ordered the blue cheese burger with bacon and was very disappointed. It was overcooked, the bun was burnt and the burger was way too salty. The service was mediocre considering we were the only table in there during the whole lunch. I would definitely not recommend for lunch.

Food was over the top great. This restaurant replaces the old Louis XVI and Savoir Faire for truly elegant dining with superb service and inventive, delicious menu. Since it is the middle of summer, the staff was small, but the service did not suffer, especially in the face of a very loud table of 20. Our waiter made sure our food order went to the kitchen ahead of theirs. And we were also served by none other than the owner, who pitched in with a complimentary dessert for my birthday. The surroundings were noisy because of the huge table of 20, which really should have been split up. But it's hard to fault the managment for that. Le Foret would be a star in New York or San Francisco, and we are lucky to have it here in New Orleans.

From the moment we walked in the staff and manager treated us as if we were the only people in the restaurant. We were offered a table in a private dining area and the service was superb from start to finish. All the food was excellent from appetizers to dessert. When indecisive about whether to get the soft shell crab or the duck I was offered a surf and turf option of both that was off menu. The manager also brought us a few items off the chef's tasting menu as complimentary. I would put my dining experience at Le Foret as maybe my most pleasurable of this year which is saying a lot since my husband and I try new fine dining in the city about twice a month. I think Le Foret was fantastic and am only sorry that it took me so long to try!!!

We had an early 600 as we were heading to a concert. The maître d was very engaging and friendly. Our food was served beautifully and at the perfect times . All 4 of us had different entrees ,and all 4 were terrific. The scallop and shrimp entree was great . They have an excellent choice of wines by the glass, which was handy since we weren't able to have a long, leisurely dinner. Second time there and it is now on our A list. Highly recommended .
