Diner Reviews
  • "Have been here a few times. Food is always really good and occasionally exceptional. Pretty restraunt also. This time was disappointed that they ran out of foie gras and in the weak coffee at the end if the meal. Not a great way to start or end a meal. Will be back though."

  • "Such a lovely experience this past Saturday at Le Foret. The crab cake was phenomenal and the mushroom bisque was to die for! I will be returning soon."

  • "Great dining experience, great service and incredible food."

  • "Food was over the top great. This restaurant replaces the old Louis XVI and Savoir Faire for truly elegant dining with superb service and inventive, delicious menu. Since it is the middle of summer, the staff was small, but the service did not suffer, especially in the face of a very loud table of 20. Our waiter made sure our food order went to the kitchen ahead of theirs. And we were also served by none other than the owner, who pitched in with a complimentary dessert for my birthday. The surroundings were noisy because of the huge table of 20, which really should have been split up. But it's hard to fault the managment for that. Le Foret would be a star in New York or San Francisco, and we are lucky to have it here in New Orleans."

  • "From the moment we walked in the staff and manager treated us as if we were the only people in the restaurant. We were offered a table in a private dining area and the service was superb from start to finish. All the food was excellent from appetizers to dessert. When indecisive about whether to get the soft shell crab or the duck I was offered a surf and turf option of both that was off menu. The manager also brought us a few items off the chef's tasting menu as complimentary. I would put my dining experience at Le Foret as maybe my most pleasurable of this year which is saying a lot since my husband and I try new fine dining in the city about twice a month. I think Le Foret was fantastic and am only sorry that it took me so long to try!!!"

  • "We had an early 600 as we were heading to a concert. The maître d was very engaging and friendly. Our food was served beautifully and at the perfect times . All 4 of us had different entrees ,and all 4 were terrific. The scallop and shrimp entree was great . They have an excellent choice of wines by the glass, which was handy since we weren't able to have a long, leisurely dinner. Second time there and it is now on our A list. Highly recommended ."

  • "Make sure this one is on your list for your next trip to New Orleans, particularly if you're looking for fine dining. The meat was flavorful, moist and tender, the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the desserts were a culinary delight! I would prefer a bit more lighting, but otherwise, I have no complaints. I will keep coming back."

  • "The presentation and portions of the appetizer and entree were outstanding. The kitchen did a fantastic job. When I arrived I was the third person in the dining area. It took forever for a cocktail. After the appetizer a group of 6 arrived and being a single I might as well been invisible. The entree was delivered with 'here you go' and the plate slid across the table. After finishing I had to ask for a dessert menu. I opted for an after dinner drink and coffee. The cocktail was wrong and the coffee cold. At this point there were still only two tables occupied in the dining room. The food, again, was wonderful. I get better service at Denny's and for a lot less money."

  • "From Ryan who greeted us (and selected an amazing wine) to Chris whose cocktails were elegant to Boris our server who was attentive yet not intrusive to Margaret the owner who checked in on us from time to time to the food which was fantastic, La Floret is a complete dining experience. We enjoyed a delightful evening at La Floret and ended up the last folks in the place. We could have stayed longer. We will be back. If you love cocktails, go. If you love great food, go. If you love great hospitality, go. If you want a romantic, easy, elegant dining experience in NoLa, go."

  • "The food was great! Foie gras was delicious . We had the BBQ shrimp which I thought could have been a bigger serving, however the sauce was excellent. Crawfish ravioli was very tasty. The servers were very attentive and atmosphere nice. Overall, very enjoyable experience."

  • "La Foret is an elegant dining experience and was perfect for the celebration of our anniversary. The chef's creations of "barbecued shrimp and grits", gnocchi, red snapper, and soft shell crab were delicious but not the standard fare - definitely a cut above! The waiter's recommendations were spot on too!"

  • "We were a party of six on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is elegant and the service is outstanding. We had a large, round table which always makes conversation more enjoyable for all. The food was superb. Two of our guests had the Foie Gras appetizer and they literally could not stop raving about it. I was actually envious. Everyone loved their entree (soft-shell crab, veal chop, beef tenderloin). The desserts were all lovely. The wine list is incredible. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and familiar with the wines. A very memorable evening!"

  • "We have been to many fine restaurants and count Le Foret among them. It was a beautiful restaurant with a fine dining room. The service and food were above expectations. We had the red snapper and it was cooked to perfection. We were well taken care of and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Thank you to all. "

  • "Great restaurant with excellent ambiance. The beef tenderloin melts in your mouth."

  • "Located next door to the JW Marriott, Le Foret is a classic white table cloth restaurant with great food and a lovely ambiance. The pork belly appetizer was phenomenal. We had the sea scallops and beef tenderloin entrees which were well-prepared and quite delicious. I would have given an overall five star rating if we skipped dessert. But having ordered it, the coffee arrived a bit tepid, requiring a request for hot coffee, the restaurant was out of creme brulee before 7:30 p.m. claiming it had been burned, and the coconut macaroon cookies I substituted were overly sweet with far too much sugar frosting. "

  • "All of our food was very good but the wait staff was 2 men for the entire restaurant. They even had to bus the tables along with everything else. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We had the wrong wine sent out 3 times. It was also difficult to get our waiters attention because he was so overloaded. This is not the dining experience you expect for the prices that are charged at Le Foret."

  • "Le Foret was the welcome closure to our visit to New Orleans and the Jazz Festival. Our family tired, from countless walks and sightseeing in the city along with a long day at the fair ground listening to all the greats finally found a welcome respite in the quiet splendor of Le Foret. There the staff attended to our needs and dazzled our daughter's friends with countless dishes that expanded their repetoire of french cuisine with a New Orleans flair. It was a splendid night of cuisine with attentive service. The Bar-b-Q Shrimp and Pork Belly were extraordinary and the macaroons had our daughter entranced."

  • "The food at was excellent but, it must have been an off night. They had a large group in a room upstairs. This must have thrown them off. We were a party of 5. 3 people got bread plates & the other two got water. We had to ask (after waiting a long time) for full table service. It took them forever to have someone come to our table to take our order & at that point, we were never even greeted with a welcome - just a ready to order? After we finally got our orders in, it took an inordinate amount of time to get our food to the table - there were very long periods of waiting between courses, as well. All told, we were at the restaurant close to 3 hours. Everyone was very nice, but no one ever apologized or offered explanations."

  • "We enjoyed our meal very much. The waiter was very helpful and professional. There were only about two other tables when were there so we didn't understand why we could only get a 6:30 reservation and not a 7:00 reservation with so many empty tables. The service was almost too quick. Our main course was delivered very soon after our appetizer so we felt a bit rushed. the food was excellent - we both have the filet mignon which melted in our mouth. Good wine selection. We would definitely recommend this to a friend."

  • "Service was slow because of only one waiter on the Wednesday night that we visited. I do not know if this was an isolated incidence, but it did slow things down quite a bit. The service from the waiter when he did come to the table was very good."

  • "We were looking for last-minute reservations on a Friday night and I was able to get a table at Le Foret. The service was prompt and excellent and the food was fabulous. The menu was nice and not overly long and included vegetarian options. The non-vegetarians had a nice selection as well. My son said that his tenderloin was probably the best he has ever had in his life...and that's quite a compliment. So with excellent food and service, why was the restaurant half empty on a Friday night? The restaurant has a very haughty atmosphere. The crowd was very formal and some of the staff were very proper and stuffy which could be a turnoff to people who simply want great food and service."

  • "Always loved Le Foret; however, this time I was extremely disappointed in both the food and service. I brought two out-of-town friends here for dinner and it took 20 minutes to get a wine list and be offered a cocktail once seated. Only two waiters were on duty, though the restaurant was quickly full. Not enough wait staff! When our food came, it was cold....not even luke warm and, therefore, not too good. I am so sorry that a once fine dining experience is now passe'."

  • "Went here on a friend's recommendation and it is exactly what you would expect from the great restaurants in New Orleans. Beautiful décor, wonderful food, outstanding service. Boris waited on us and he could not have been more attentive. Went with some of his recommendations and they were wonderful. My favorite--BBQ shrimp and grit cake appetizer--divine!! My husband fancies himself a grill master on his big green egg. He said the steak there was the only one that rivals his own. Since it was Mardi Gras season they had a king cake with bananas foster that capped off a wonderful meal. Restaurants like this are one reason I love New Orleans!!"

  • "The attention to service and a little Lagniappe taste before the meal and a little something sweet after the meal were nice touches. The appetizers and salads were very good but the entrees were lacking. The value was not there. More fancy than food and taste quality. You can get much better food in New Orleans at a much better price."
