Le CirqueTop notch as beforeThis is a restaurant that still does things with "old school" perfection, from a dress code to the service. There is a prix fix menu for lunch and the only challenge was deciding which selection from many tempting choices. It was also a birthday celebration and they also made that extra special. As before, I recommend the lobster rosetto and the petite filet. Wine list is extensive but pricey in comparison to like establishments.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectIt doesn't get any better than this, everything was perfect!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMa great eveningService Service Service! Every detail was covered. The lobster salad is an absolute must.. Prices are not for the faint of heart but you do get what you pay for.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionalLe Cirque is a NY Landmark for a reason. The food and service are exceptional, atmosphere is great and the lunch pre-fixe is a really great value.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMUninspiredAlthough this is a very well put together restaurant, generally you get the feeling that they are just riding on the renown they had in the '80s. Everything was just slightly sub par in comparison to other NY restaurants in this price range. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a meal, it needs to be amazing, and apart from the design of the actual space itself, Le Cirque wasn't.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is beautiful. The restaurant is beautiful. Unlike some reviews, we did not find the wait staff condescending. We thought they were nice and attentive. The service was a little too fast for me. I prefer to dine at a slower rate, but the food was excellent. We had the Chef's 6 course tasting menu with an fine bottle of pinot noir. My husband had the "Stove" dessert and it was both tasty and fun!
Would definitely recommend for a special occasion as it is pricey.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA special eveningWe had the pleasure of celebrating our tenth anniversary at Le Cirque. While the seating is not as intimate as some, the ambience is quiet & we were able to talk without feeling we were broadcasting to the world. We were aware of the "hum" of conversation without having to ever raise our voice.
The food was superb! A small selection of beautifuly prepared food with a traditional feel but modern style.
However, I could have skipped the entree & main, just to get to the deserts! The cirque "stove" tiramisu made me laugh (in a good way) with the surprise in the presentation and it was a joy to eat. The Creme Caramel was light with a perfect crispy top.
Service was all you would expect.
A memorable evening. Will be back next time I'm in NYC5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place to be.This restaurant never disappoints. Pricey but worth it. Excellent service and wine list.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectEven after all these years - Le Cirque is still a perfect meal - great service, beautiful atmosphere - and room between the tables so you feel like you are not crowded at all.
Wonderful !4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to many high endI've been to many high end restaurants in NYC and this is by far my favorite!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood left taste to be desired.Food left taste to be desired. Salmon was requested to be medium rare but came dry and overdone. Vegetables tasted gritty.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAll good and memorable too! This is a service oriented restaurant where the food and wine list is also excellant. I was surprised when I mentioned it was my friend's birthday that the waiters came out with a complimentary (creme brulee) dessert bearing a candle on a plate which had "Happy Birthday" written in decorative icing on it. As if that were not enough, as we rose to leave, our waiter presented my friend with a gift for her birthday. What a lovely way to spend a birthday dinner and what a happy memory.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionOur experience at Le Cirque was perfect in everyway!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was an unforgettable experience. It was an unforgettable experience. It is ideal for private occasions. We left extremely satisfied.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous DinnerLe Cirque is a brilliant special-occasion place. The room is airy and spacious, the tables set far apart. The 4-course prix fixe ($145, for foie gras ravioli, lobster risotto, rack of lamb, and an amazing chocolate dessert) is well worth it (although I found the rack of lamb had not-crackly, unrendered fat--and the maitre d' immediately reported it to the kitchen and asked me to let him know if they've improved the dish the next time I order it). The service is impeccable; you never have to look for a waiter or busboy, they're always watching your table and move in smoothly and unobtrusively to clear, or refill your glass, or bring the next course, without needing any prompting.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu with some outstandinExcellent menu with some outstanding dishes - lamb, lobster, oysters with caviar. Perfect portions - not too big/not too small. VERY expensive, but worth it. Wine list was not as special as I expected, but still very good and some real gems at reasonable prices.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMUnfortuantely a bit dated....greatUnfortuantely a bit dated....great wine list; however, several of our choices, although listed, were not available. Pity.....3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Food was amazing. GoodThe Food was amazing. Good service. Just a tad overpriced, which is a shame because I would go more often if it would be less pricy.2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMStill on top of the gamePerfect in nearly every way; the best French resto in the US I've been to since the lamentable loss of Philly's original Le Bec Fin. I last visited Le Cirque in the old Vuillard Mansion (Palace Hotel) and found the new modern locale nearly as evocative and festive as the old brownstone. Nicely paced, attentively served, savory in every regard. The staff's flexible approach allowed us to sample more offerings than the menu implied on its face, and we judge it worth all the admittedly considerable expense.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVisit Le Cirque to dine!Le Cirque - what can you say about a terrific dining experience. if you want to eat go somewhere else. If you want to dine head to Le Cirque. The main room was quiet and refined and the food was terrific too. The wait staff extremely attentive.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place surely does haveThis place surely does have an outstanding atmosphere. The decoration of the ceiling and walls was luxurious and the service was also very good. However, the food was the problem. I had the winter restaurant week menu. The salad as an appetizer was okay but nothing special. Merlu as the main course was very disappointing because it was just a pan fried piece of fish on a butternut squash. Nothing else. The fish didn't taste like anything. Polenta cake as dessert was also mediocre. The marsh mellow on top of the cake didn't go very well with the cake because it was too sweet. I have known this place for a long time but didn't have get a chance to visit. However, after having dinner here once, I don't think I will dine again at Le Cirque.1/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of NYC's iconicThis is one of NYC's iconic restaurants and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly, efficient and attentive, the food was very well cooked and served. The room is large but still retains an intimacy. It is certainly not the cheapest table in town but for a special occasion, it is worth the splurge.1/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
