Diner Reviews
  • "Busy restaurant week scene. We were delayed our seating for 20minutes. We sat a a noisey tiny bar with servers buzzing past. Not a great beginning. We felt ignored and forgotten. The bar staff barely made eye contact and were quite cold. Finally, we were seated, the menu was fabulous. The servers were professional and attentive. The presentation and flavor made us want to return the next day. But we decided to wait until Restaurant Week is over. My new favorite place! And after we finished, things quieted down and Carmine gave us a tour, loved it. Compared to Circo, this is the more elegant experience. I do prefer the dining room with linen tablecloths, but will try their " jazz" night."

  • "Lovely room, and we sat right by the wine tower. Good service, okay food. Restaurant week menu was very limited--no meat at all without supplementary pricing. And the wine is really overpriced."

  • "Started with Le Cirque Salad with truffle dressing-just the right amount of truffle, not overpowering. My husband liked his Spring Pea Risotto but I noticed it had a strange aftertaste, perhaps due to the truffle taste from my salad. Trout with green apple and fennel was fresh & light. My husband loved the chicken entrée and enjoyed his glass of Sancerre. Desserts were stellar--Crème Brulee & Panna Cotta could not have been better. We were impressed and are considering a return on a Monday evening when they have Jazz."

  • "We went here for restaurant week lunch and it was unbelievable. The decor is not incredible (in terms of gobsmackingly amazing) but the ambiance is gorgeous, the food divine, the service is impeccable. We enjoyed every minute. The wine was expensive at $17 a glass minimum!"

  • "Food was great and service was good, only problem was the coffee came out cold. But they replaced it immediately when I mention it to the waiter."

  • "Food was good, ambience was acceptable, but the service was horrible. It took about half an hour for them to serve our dessert. Unacceptable!"

  • "We had a wonderful lunch and would definitely return the next time we come to NYC. Our waiter was terrific, the food was delicious and the open, airy atmosphere was as good as it gets."

  • "Received an email from Maccioni Group about Le Cirque Café music evenings, and reserved 7/9 for dinner to see Gianni Russo. When I arrived, I was first told there was no music on Wed., then told the event was a “private party,” then told I had to explain it was for the music when I make a reservation, then told it was upstairs and booked. Had dinner anyway. They told us they were trying to get a table for upstairs and we should start dinner and then they would move us…but they never came to move us and then our entrees were delivered. Had to show the Maccioni email to the women at the front desk and the Maitre d’ THREE TIMES! They couldn't understand how I had the info I did. Was treated very rudely, and made to feel like an idiot."

  • "The food, service, and atmosphere was great for our business lunch! Although we were on a short timeframe, nothing was sacrificed."

  • "I'm a middle aged lady lawyer and I decided to try Le Cirque Cafe, as it's more or less in my office neighborhood. I was treating a young friend, an opera singer, who was soon to return to Italy where she lives. We were both elegantly and appropriately dressed. However, the waitstaff chose more or less to ignore us. Was it the fact that we ordered the prix fixe? Was it the fact that I was a new face and not a regular? Hard to say, but the service was less than warm. The food, however, was excellent. I will try again, but I was disappointed, as it would be nice to have a place of that quality where I would feel good about taking business colleagues for a simple lunch. "

  • "I had a lovely solitary meal at Le Cirque Cafe the other day (my 2nd visit but this time alone). I was seated promptly and had a very attentive wait staff. I did the $39 fix price lunch and was amazed at the amount and quality of the food. I started with the Fois Gras Terrine and could have licked the plate, then had the Skate which was accompanied with some "crackers" and fried chicken oysters. But the real surprise was the incredible "opera cake" ... it comes encased in a complete chocolate "stove" and was an amazing presentation and taste. I also had one glass of champagne. I also love the bread basket and creamy butter. Will be back again and again!"

  • "Musical Mondays at Le Cirque in The Cafe are a special treat but dining there is always wonderful. Carmine is an amazing service person & a true gentleman. And the banana soufflé! C'est magnifique! Can't wait for our next dinner"

  • "Le Cirque was everthing I hoped for then new yorkers came in and one man loudly complained he didn't get "his" table, one man kept jumping up to answer his phone and one woman said her husband's food was too cold. Every table around us had some personal issue. Seriously? The staff was gracious. And we had a great time in spite of the disruptions. "

  • "The Monday night music was great. The menu options were limited, especially for someone who doesn't like meat or fish, but what i did end up choosing was nice."

  • "C;est formidable! The service, food and ambience are impeccable. It's the best place for crème brulee too. If I lived in the city, I would eat here everyday. If you haven't dined here, you are missing out on experiencing authentic French cuisine."

  • "Wonderful lunch. Lovely restaurant. Good, amiable service. Would definitely recommend the chocolate mousse because I'm a dessert person. The pumpkin risotto was just right."

  • "ambiance - great, service - impeccable, prix fixe restaurant week menu was a bit disappointing. ordered the pork without realizing it was pork belly. looked like a square lump of fat on my plate. portions on the small side for the prices they charge."

  • "Every year I look forward to going to Le Cirque during Restaurant Week. Although the food and service were very high quality, I felt we were slightly rushed, and that everyone was on auto-pilot. Also, no bread was brought or offerred to us, though other tables had it. I think in other years we were made to feel truly special, but this time it was being phoned in."

  • "This is a place to go and be seen, while enjoying spectacular food, albeit very expensive food and wine."

  • "We were treated like second class citizens when they realized that we were interested in the restaurant week menu. The waiters and maitre d were curt and sour faced. The food was fair to good; not what it once was or should be. Sadly, Sirio sat alone at a table next to the coat check. He would not smile or speak to anyone and was rude when spoken to. We were extremely disappointed. Not a place to recommend or return to, even at restaurant week prices."

  • "I went to Le Cirque for restaurant week. I don't like to give negative reviews, but the portions were so tiny that I had to have another dinner afterwards! I'm not sure if the portions I had were their normal portions, but there was an appetizer of gnocchi with shrimp, and while the gnocchi was great, the shrimp was insulting. It looked like the baby, frozen shrimp that you get in your supermarket's shrimp salad. The entree that I chose was a fish and while it was tasty I was looking for the other half. Le Cirque - you may have rave reviews, but I doubt it is from your restaurant week. If that is what you are going to serve, I recommend opting out."

  • "The Menu offered for Restaurant Week this year was not good. The only thing good was the deserts. Have been here on other Restaurant weeks and it was great but this year was a real disappointment. Wanted to go to lunch after I left LeCirque."

  • "My fiance and I went to Le Cirque cafe during restaurant week -- while our table was being prepared, we sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. The drinks were delicious (18-20$) and many different varieties to choose from. The meal was absolutely delicious -- highly recommend the risotto and gnocci -- had the pork belly for dinner, very tender. This was a great spot for a nice night out!"

  • "Dinner at Le Cirque as part of rest. week was disappointing. Staff & food not good. I previously have eaten at Le Cirque (not as part of rest. week) & found it v. good. I wanted to take 2 friends who had not been & thought rest. week was a good way to introduce the restaurant to them. Clearly Le Cirque (service & kitchen staff inlcuding the chef) went kicking & screaming into rest. week, perhaps they felt it was below them. My entree, that promised so much flavour, (ordered the pork belly) came out as a strip of fat. The staff were disfainful & dismissive. Just a reminder, one good experience generally leads to further visits & recommendations. One bad expeirence results in never going back & lots of bad press. Le Cirque-your choice."

  • "It was good. Service was impeccable. I would have to say its the best creme brulee I've had. The chocolate mousse was also divine. And the Braised pork belly was amazing!"

  • "I dined at Le Cirque Cafe during restaurant week with friends. The initial greeting was surly. We were on time but were told to wait at the bar for our table. I guess we were not decorative enough shortly thereafter we were moved into the main LeCirque dining room to the worst table far from any other guest. The service at table was mediocre to rude. The food which was from the R Weeks menu was mediocre, my neighborhood place can do better. The gnocchi were over salted, the salmon was totally without flavor and the chocolate mouse was stale. Wine by the glass was wildly overpriced. And to top off the evening even the coat checker was in a foul mood. Neither none of us would go back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I liked."

  • "The server took forever to acknowledge and after he did he abruptly rushed while taking our order. My food was semi warm, almost like it was sitting out. My gnocchi was gummy and my shrimp was slighty over cooked, as for my main course it was dry. The best part of meal was my Forrest breeze drink-which was refreshing and delicious (it had muddled fresh fruit) and dessert, no complaints about le cirques creamy creme brûlée."

  • "Went there for restaurant week and the menu had a nice selection to choose from. The food was great! The only problem was that the waiter gave the wrong charges on the bill. So be sure to check the charges. I would definitely go back."

  • "I haven't had such respectful, careful and good mannered service since the last time I had dinner in Venice, Italy. The servers, the maitre d' the busboys were all so polite and so very careful! The food was perfect and altogether, four of us had a spectacular evening! Thank you!"

  • "I love this place, if I can say one thing. It would be 1000% wonderful, if we can enjoy wines for brunch a Little bit more reasonable."
