The art Alliance finally has an "alliance" that works. Like being in Paris on a great back street. Beautiful antique rooms, great staff, and classic/modern food. Wish the attempts at seasonal styling were more "stylish" and lighting was warmer.

This is real, unfussy French food at its best. Think homemade boudin, delicious hare (bring on the game!), perfectly cooked trout, tender grilled quail. We have been for lunch and dinner, and both were excellent. The wine list is very good, and includes several modestly priced choices.

I came to Le Cherie with 5 young women, most of whom ended up ordering very little. Despite this fact, the staff couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. The food was, in proper French tradition, subtile and delicious. The ravioli was beyond compare. The Salade Lyonaise was met with great enthusiasm as was the crab cake. This is a restaurant to which one would do well to return to again and again for the atmosphere, service and exquisite cuisine.

Charlotte and her Husband, who is the chef, are doing an equally wonderful job here as they are at their other location. This is authentic, excellently prepared French fare. The $20 corkage fee is quite reasonable. If you bring a, for example, $30 bottle of wine, plus the $20, you know exactly what your are drinking and are still way under what even a low end bottle would cost from the restaurant. The price point of the dishes is the same as other good restaurants in Philadelphia, but the quality of the preparation and the dishes themselves fare exceed the quality of these other restaurants at the same price. We highly recommend it.

We had an overall excellent experience at Le Cheri Saturday evening before the orchestra. Good cocktails at their intimate bar. Very French menu, food well-prepared and hot upon arrival. Fine recommendations for wine by the glass with our meal. Service was prompt and attentive, but not overbearing. The Art Alliance building is a unique setting for this surprising find - we will return with our Francophile friends!

La Cheri is a beautiful restaurant and the service is excellent. After having some of the best cocktails we've ever had at a restaurant's bar, La Parisienne Blonde, and a very special Martini, we proceeded to dinner. We had great expectations for La Cheri, but were sadly disappointed with the food. Starting with Ahi Tuna that did not have any flavor of fennel or of Pernod and was striated with tendons, and bland tasting oysters followed by almost tasteless grouper. However, I did find the hare special to be tender and flavorful.

His can a restaurant be relaxed and informal but also sophisticated at the same time? Le Cheri does exactly that. The wonderful surroundings of the Art Alliance have been wonderfully decorated to provide a fitting stage for Pierre Calmels to serve his Brasserie style menu that is contends with the finest traditional French cooking that you could wish to fine anywhere. In the front of house his charming wife Charlotte conducts operations with a quiet calmness that ensures all your entire dining experience proceeds smoothly and without fuss. She also selected the wine list which us worth a visit in its own right! You will not be dissapponted. Don't save it for special occasions, you will want to go often.

Great food, inventive and creative preparations. Menu is a bit more refined than sister restaurant Bibou, but still offers great value. Service needs improvement, wait staff not all proficient in English . Good wine list with most choices reasonably priced, and an excellent selection og moderately priced ( but good ) wines available in all categories. We will return, both to Bibou and Le Cherie.

Sometimes I want to dine outdoors and when I do, it's not on 18th Street in Rittenhouse Square where there is no protection from oncoming traffic. My husband and I wouldn't dream of dining on a city pavement without security poles to block a car that's out-of-control! Instead, we reserve a table at Le Cheri in the beautiful, hidden garden just off 18th Street in the magnificent Art Alliance Building. Where else can one dine so well in the splendor of nature and in the midst of the city? And no one in the city is able to serve the crab galette Georges Perrier made famous except Le Cheri. Our lunch and wine was superb as always! Thanks Charlotte, Pierre and staff!

Pierre and Charlotte have presented this city with another "fantastique" restaurant. Our party of 6 enjoyed a wonderful experience from the raviole de champignon to the truit (trout) to the crab cakes and on. Presentation and service were A+ and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely dining room and outdoor patio tastefully appointed, but nothing can surpass the simply excellent food. This restaurant ranks with the very best in Philadelphia!!

This was my second visit for lunch at Le Cheri. The setting is lovely, the food is excellent and elegantly presented, and the service gracious and discreet. The wait staff is very knowledgeable, accommodating and quite pleasant. No one rushed us to leave. I would however prefer there be more selection on the lunch menu. An omelet would be a nice addition to the menu.

We are from out of town, but had read about this restaurant and were anxious to try it. We were not disappointed. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. My husband ordered the grouse, a rare treat that you won't find on most menus. We were thoroughly delighted when the chef (from Lyon, France) came out at the end of the evening to ask how he enjoyed it and spent a few minutes with us. We can't wait to return on our next visit to Philly!

First time there; lovely setting and decor; friendly patronne; good food. But -- quel dommage -- French gin and French Scotch? Gin is a London drink and the basis for a proper martini. Scotch, naturally, should be Scottish. So lay in a stock of Bombay Sapphire gin and Johnnie Walker Black whisky and all will be well.

My husband and I had a weeknight dinner at Le Cheri. It is located in the beautiful and historic Art Alliance building near Rittenhouse Square. The staff was gracious and helpful from beginning to end. We ate in the patio area which was buffered from the sounds of the city and we were able to converse easily. The food was wonderfully prepared and presented and our waiter was able to answer all our questions. Only wish they had a listing of wines by the glass for us to peruse before selecting...the waiter recited them to us and made good suggestions. Food, staff and ambiance all excellent and memorable. Would definitely return.

After 30 years of restaurants coming and going from this wonderful museum mansion, this finally does the space justice. Duck, dorrado, braided bass and salmon -- all beautifully presented -- light and delicatly flavored. Reasonably priced. As good a meal as I have had in Philly. Simple but masterful elevated French bistro cuisine. Elegant and authentic. A chef de cuisine who is young but maintains the old tradition of stopping to your table and asks his guests how was their experience. Still room to improve the desserts. Too mainstream for me. The noise level was exceedingly high, making conversation almost impossible, and I could tell the same for other tables because the people were shouting. Definitely not the type of environment one wants for a pleasant dinner. The menu was so limited I could not find one item that appealed to me, and the menu provided was not the same as that online. The food was reasonably well prepared even though the sorts of things I might eat were not available.

Chose Le Cheri because it was my understanding the new owners were George Perrier disciples of the now shuttered, much revered Le Bec Fin. My experience started out nicely. Ordered a bottle of Cote de Rhone that was not to my liking. Though the pick was my fault, the sommelier insisted on replacing the wine with a lovely Pinot Noir. Evening abruptly took a turn for the worst. What began as attentive service, slowed, as restaurant filled. First course of Ravioli stuffed with lobster and crab mousse was forgettable. Entree of veal liver was cut in chunks like stew meat. Should have skipped dessert, a too sweet to eat Creme Brûlée. Suggest you skip Le Cheri. Don't like writing negative review, staff eager to please, but not fit for foodies.

This was a superb meal, delivered by a competent staff (sadly, Charlotte was not there' reports are that she is what sends the experience). We felt that the space, which has troubled so many restauranteurs, is still a bit problematic, in part because the outdoor space feel so casual (metal outdoor furniture maybe a contributing factor. But this is also due to the overall layout and size of the main dining room, which forces the tables inside to be placed along the walls, leaving a somewhat dead open space in the middle.
