This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is really special. Everything that we and another couple tried was just spectacular. The service was excellent. The chef visited the table and he is charming. It was wonderful to be able to tell him that everything was delicious. I had a special with crab and shrimp that could have been the best thing that I have ever eaten!

This was my second visit for lunch at Le Cheri. The setting is lovely, the food is excellent and elegantly presented, and the service gracious and discreet. The wait staff is very knowledgeable, accommodating and quite pleasant. No one rushed us to leave. I would however prefer there be more selection on the lunch menu. An omelet would be a nice addition to the menu.

We are from out of town, but had read about this restaurant and were anxious to try it. We were not disappointed. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. My husband ordered the grouse, a rare treat that you won't find on most menus. We were thoroughly delighted when the chef (from Lyon, France) came out at the end of the evening to ask how he enjoyed it and spent a few minutes with us. We can't wait to return on our next visit to Philly!

First time there; lovely setting and decor; friendly patronne; good food. But -- quel dommage -- French gin and French Scotch? Gin is a London drink and the basis for a proper martini. Scotch, naturally, should be Scottish. So lay in a stock of Bombay Sapphire gin and Johnnie Walker Black whisky and all will be well.

My husband and I had a weeknight dinner at Le Cheri. It is located in the beautiful and historic Art Alliance building near Rittenhouse Square. The staff was gracious and helpful from beginning to end. We ate in the patio area which was buffered from the sounds of the city and we were able to converse easily. The food was wonderfully prepared and presented and our waiter was able to answer all our questions. Only wish they had a listing of wines by the glass for us to peruse before selecting...the waiter recited them to us and made good suggestions. Food, staff and ambiance all excellent and memorable. Would definitely return.

After 30 years of restaurants coming and going from this wonderful museum mansion, this finally does the space justice. Duck, dorrado, braided bass and salmon -- all beautifully presented -- light and delicatly flavored. Reasonably priced. As good a meal as I have had in Philly. The outdoor setting on the rear enclosed patio on a beautiful night can not be topped.

Simple but masterful elevated French bistro cuisine. Elegant and authentic. A chef de cuisine who is young but maintains the old tradition of stopping to your table and asks his guests how was their experience. Still room to improve the desserts. Too mainstream for me. Overall, the best French restaurant in Philadelphia.

The noise level was exceedingly high, making conversation almost impossible, and I could tell the same for other tables because the people were shouting. Definitely not the type of environment one wants for a pleasant dinner. The menu was so limited I could not find one item that appealed to me, and the menu provided was not the same as that online. The food was reasonably well prepared even though the sorts of things I might eat were not available.

Chose Le Cheri because it was my understanding the new owners were George Perrier disciples of the now shuttered, much revered Le Bec Fin. My experience started out nicely. Ordered a bottle of Cote de Rhone that was not to my liking. Though the pick was my fault, the sommelier insisted on replacing the wine with a lovely Pinot Noir. Evening abruptly took a turn for the worst. What began as attentive service, slowed, as restaurant filled. First course of Ravioli stuffed with lobster and crab mousse was forgettable. Entree of veal liver was cut in chunks like stew meat. Should have skipped dessert, a too sweet to eat Creme Brûlée. Suggest you skip Le Cheri. Don't like writing negative review, staff eager to please, but not fit for foodies.

This was a superb meal, delivered by a competent staff (sadly, Charlotte was not there' reports are that she is what sends the experience). We felt that the space, which has troubled so many restauranteurs, is still a bit problematic, in part because the outdoor space feel so casual (metal outdoor furniture maybe a contributing factor. But this is also due to the overall layout and size of the main dining room, which forces the tables inside to be placed along the walls, leaving a somewhat dead open space in the middle.

The day was perfect. The garden was quiet. We felt as if we were in France. Split Small Nicoise salade, had Perrier's signature Crabcake, a delicious white burgundy, and shared a pot au creme. A delicious experience. Highly recommended for outdoor dinning. Inside especially on the weekend has a sports bar atmosphere. Pity, food is wonderful but noise is a turn off.

Our party of four enjoyed dinner there Friday night and the food and experience was wonderful. We enjoyed a cocktail before dinner in the charming and cozy bar. Then we had a fabulous dinner in the main room, which is very pretty looking out on the outside garden area. The food was excellent. We started out with the tuna app which is sushi grade marinated in a citrus sauce- so tender and flavorful. And, we also shared the mushroom raviolis which were amazing! We enjoyed the halibut with a light lobster sauce, two had the tender and flavorful pork and another person got the steak frites. The desserts weren't quite as memorable. Highly recommend.

First, everybody loves this well-known historical building in center-city Philadelphia. Then, you are always nicely greeted, and you can enjoy the outdoor seating in the beautiful and quiet garden, as pretty during day time as at night. However, the main attraction is the cuisine, which is French cuisine like in France, such authenticity is rather rare around here. Service is friendy and professional, not pompous. Nothing is pretentious, but everything is meant to make you feel comfortable and happy. So, bon appétit to you!

Enjoyed our evening at Le Cheri. Food was outstanding as was the service. The Art Alliance is a terrific building in which to house the restuarant.Did not eat in the garden but it looked terrific.Small menu but very interesting.Food was quite elegant and service was outstanding.Recently ate at Bibou which is owned by the same couple and is also excellent. The two menus are very similar and it might be better if one or the other was a bit different.Maybe a more casual bistro type menu at Le Cheri.

The food is the best in Philadelphia. One of the individuals eating with me - this was a business lunch - stopped twice to comment on how good the food was. The use of the outdoor area, which is not right on the street but is secluded by a metal fence, is particularly pleasant. Mme. Charlotte Calmels runs the front of the restaurant as well as anyone in Philadelphia. The wine list is not overpriced but in addition, for a small corkage fee, one can bring one's own. Pierre Calmels clearly does duck better than anyone in Philadelphia.

Unlike Parc and Rouge nearby, le Cheri is more intimate and quiet. I took my girlfriends there to celebrate a bride-to-be and we sat the courtyard. It was a sunny and warm day but the courtyard is well-covered with umbrellas. Food-wise, it was just the right proportions and very good. We only had light fare, we had appetizer shrimp salad and chilled artichoke soup, and the entree of mussels that we shared. Service was very attentive. I would like to go back for dinner! If you're vegetarian or vegan, there are not a lot of options other than salads.

Le Cheri is a quaint little French restaurant run by LeBec Fin alumni. Very intimate with a nice patio if you like outdoor dining. The food is very good. I had the escargot with hazelnut app which was a nice change from the usual way. My wife had the lyonaise salad which she loved at LeBec. She loved it just as much here. I had the halibut entree which was nicely seasoned & perfectly cooked. My wife had the veal. The menu says medallions but it is more like a veal steak. It was a little undercooked. Easily fixed. The wine list is all French with some nice selections & very reasonably priced. Service was excellent. We will be going back.

We fine dined and enjoyed the meal. Steak tartare was plentiful and delicious. Odd to pair with potato chips but went with it. Terrine was good as well. The lamb and veal meals were well presented. Wines by the glass were not on the menu but on a center table to be observed and chosen. This is not a Bibou unfortunately. With so many good restaurants around the Square, they are going to have to add more Staff. Our poor waiter had six tables to himself in the back room. We found the meal to be unnecessarily dragged out because he was running around trying to serve all of the other tables. Will wait before going back to see if they can make a go of it. Not as hard to get a reservation as Bibou.

As one might expect from the owner-chef of Bibou, the fabulous French bistro on S. 8th St., Le Cherie is absolutely superb in every way. Charlotte Calmel's decorative scheme is gorgeous and her husband Pierre's authentic French cuisine is sophisticated and as appealing to the eye as to the palate. For an unforgettable dining experience the outdoor shaded patio (available on first come, first seated basis) is an elegant setting for this superb cuisine. The area is filled with growing plants, bushes and vines clinging to a rear wall, tables are placed a comfortable distance from each other and the only sound is from a trickling fountain.

Overall the experience was a disappointment, given the expectations. Service was disjointed. Waitress introduced herself, then we never saw her again. Long wait before anyone asked if we wanted a drink while we selected our meals. Felt like an afterthought while the wait staff concentrated on the outdoor patio. Waiter recommended a fish that was not on the menu. If inside be aware that nearby tables will overhear your conversation. Braised pork over noodles was ok; nothing special. My companion's veal medallion was very tasty, but wasn't a medallion--more of a log. Very limited wine by the glass, but what they offered was very good. Nice wine list. I will give it another try, but for time being wonder what all the fuss is about.

We both had salads, I, la salade aux crevettes, my friend, la salade nicoise. They were delicate, delicious and beautifully presented.
