Spinach and date salad: wonderful!
Pork medallions with generous flan with spinach: so tasty!
Go with their wine advice: it works best.
Partner loved her beef tongue first course ... 'hopes they keep on menu.
Food so good I ate too much, felt full!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant surpriseThe first Thurday of every month they offer a free wine tasting. The service and food were wonderful. I plan to return:)5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brie, bacon and onionThe brie, bacon and onion tart was outstanding (tart asterix I believe) and can't beat the half priced bottle of wine selection on Tuesday nights! We came in for a late dinner on Tuesday and the restaurant was very quiet, but we were still given professional, lovely service. Will definitely come back!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great ambiance.Great food, great ambiance. Didn't expect it to be as romantic as it was. Don't like the two-top near the door so much, kind of awkward and very cold when the door opens but otherwise I have no complaints, I really enjoyed my experience.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Le Chat Noir! TheWe love Le Chat Noir! The upstairs bar/ dining are was fantastic. The old, black and white Charlie Chaplin movies were a real treat. Can't wait to make it back there again!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMthe escargot, frog legs, arcticthe escargot, frog legs, arctic char, trout and polento were fabulous.
I wished they had included a cheese plate as a dessert option (on the Bloomspot voucher)4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Evening OutMy 'fit for foodies' ratings are very hard to come by - an establishment needs to go above and beyond, not just get an A-. Very good food, great service (Andrew was wonderful) and the owner took a moment to make sure everything was on par. The French onion soup was great - lovely thick broth, great bouillabaisse and pretty good boeuf bourguignon. The crepes for dessert were very light and flavorful and the chocolate mousse was sadly disappointing - very light and airy but missing the serious intensity so lauded by french mousse. Overall wonderful experience.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable scene -- comfortableEnjoyable scene -- comfortable spacing and lighting -- good mix of guests -- and, clearly, a customer focused wait staff. Most importantly -- each and every course from the salads and appetizers -- salute to the mussels -- to the entrees -- to the dessert crepes and coffees -- was delectable. Wine and beer selections were extensive, upper tier and appropriate in terms of quality and cost. The welcoming host was wonderful -- however, the servers were many -- making it somewhat difficult to engage. Overall, a truly pleasing evening.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood if not great French cuisine,Good if not great French cuisine, with attentive service. A lovely room, intimate, although the tables are close together.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing, andThe food was amazing, and left a lasting impression! The escargot was delightful as was my fish (I generally hate fennel anything, but the fennel sauce was aromatic and dreamy!) and my dessert-salted caramel ice cream with mead drenched dates-was UNBELIEVABLE! I would definitely come back4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance here is lovelyThe ambiance here is lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the Médaillons de porc and the Trio du terroir and both were exceptional!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was really good,The food was really good, we enjoyed a lot!
But we all wish the light could be brighter.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPeter S. Stony Brook, NYIf you want an authentic, excellent, French meal, you have to go to Le Chat Noir.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo Thumbs Up, woyld return! This was my first time at a French restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, as the food was so flavorful, well prepared, decent portion sizes. The wait staff was very attentive when we I went on a Tues nite. The prices were very decent at $20-$30 for all dishes. Definitely would recommend the pork medallion and would return to this restaurant!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treatOnce again a terrific meal at Le Chat Noir. Anything they make that involves a sauce or soup is just sublime. We also dined there during Restaurant Week (although we didn't realize that it was going to be Restaurant Week) and the meal was outstanding. Next year we'll plan on it. For the sight-challenged, carrying a small flashlight for restaurant menus is always a good idea, and it would have helped here. The mood is French bistro, a bit dim for reading, but lovely for dining.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench bistro in TenleytownThe service was excellent - very attentive staff, friendly and efficient. The onion soup was delicious but I was disappointed in the lobster ravioli. They were quite bland. My friend enjoyed the crepe with mushrooms and her peach dessert crepe.
I'll return in a few weeks, for a group work lunch, so look forward to another good meal.1/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming French bistroMy first time here in many years but I'll return soon. Thanks to a coupon for steak frites and salad for two, my beau and I dined here on Friday, December 14. There were at least 3 large groups, celebrating the holidays but the staff was polite, attentive and efficient. The French bread was delicious - hard and crusty. The unsalted butter served with the bread was very cold and hard but that's a small ding. The steak was very good and the frites were superb but there was no malt vinegar so I asked for mayo. We will return to try the savory and sweet crepes, their specialty and hard to find these days.12/14/2012 12:00:00 AM
