Le Chardonnay was not the dark & romantic specialty pizza & seafood joint I remembered from ten years ago. The new location is very smoky, and more brightly lit. I felt very overdressed wearing heels and a dress for the theatre. The feeling is more that of a dive bar, with servers wearing t-shirts, and smoke permeating every corner of the room.
My husband's seafood-stuffed grouper special, and my Grateful Not Dead pizza almost made up for it, however, and I'd return for a much more casual occasion, and wouldn't need the reservation. Maybe it's time to change the name to "The" Chardonnay.

I visted on an off night, as there were only 2 other diners seated inside, although the outside deck was full. The food was very good, and service was exceptional. Beautiful decor, good for a romantic interlude.

I haven't been to LeChardonnay since they were next to TGI Fridays on the other side of Madison. The new location is larger, but much more casual. I liked the atmosphere of the original location much better. Maybe the current casual atmosphere is by design. But, it was a little bit of a surprise. Also, where we sat was extremely loud. There weren't many people in the restaurant, but the patrons near us were loud and somewhat annoying.

We did not think the food was special. We ordered caesar salads and received chicken caesar salads. We ate them but wondered what the waitress was thinking when she took our order. We had specifically asked that the salads not come with anchovies and didn't mention chicken. We ordered tapas including coconut shrimp and it came with a ketchup based sauce instead of the usual sweet sauce, like mango, apricot or orange. Very strange for coconut shrimp. Also, the coconut fell off the shrimp so it was basically fried shrimp.

"
This was my 4th going to le chardonay. I had visited this establishment when it was over on the square. I also visted. Le chardonay in 2010.8 found it to be not as good. This time around. The service was rushed and no where near what we had been used to. Also the menu was signifcantly smaller than it has been in the past. And the smoke was horrible..please make this place smoke free. We will not be returning.

A great Valentine's Day choice! We began with the Wood Fired Mushrooms and they did NOT disappoint, stuffed with duck confit and cream cheese. My wife had the Citrus Grouper that she shared with me, and it was fantastic. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Grilled Chicken. Moist and perfectly grilled chicken in a cream sauce with unbelievable mushroom ravioli. Nice wine list. Everything is reasonably priced for the atmosphere and the ambiance. LeChardonnay Wine and Bistro knows how to do it right...do yourself a big favor and visit soon!

The food was great and they had a nice selection of wines by the glass. We would definitely recommend this place except for one thing: they allow smoking. We didn't realize this, and we were overwhelmed by smoke when we were first seated. Unfortunately, because of this we will not return.
