Diner Reviews
  • "Words cannot describe just how wonderful our dining experience was at Le Bouillon. My wife, Margaret, visited it on the occasion of my 68th birthday. We simply cannot get enough of that wonderful place. We enjoyed Les Petit Plats: House Lardo, steamed clams, grilled romaine, Crispy Sweetbreads, and a wonderful desert the name of which I have forgotten. But what we enjoyed the most were the Whole Sardines. Those are not readily available in Nebraska but they are especially delicious and done to a fare-thee-well at Le Bouillon. We enjoyed the deep fried bones after eating the fish. And the service was impeccable. We cannot wait until we are able to go again."

  • "Our night out was really special. It began with a Manhattan, perfectly concocted by attentive staff, and continued to delight with the "toasts", duck, pickled onion and pork rillette, all delicious and generously proportioned, more than enough for two. Our entrees, Fisherman's stew and Beef short ribs, arrived in a timely fashion. My stew was full of clams, mussels, white fish and shrimp in a rich creamy broth. My partner's ribs were initially too salty for his taste and were subsequently replaced with an entirely new plate, cooked to perfection and graciously presented by our concerned server. It was a great experience, enlivened by Sam Mercer's artwork and thoughtfully selected music."

  • "They made my wife's birthday dinner out a special one. Our server was awesome and deserved the 50% tip I gave her. Would go back any time we are in the mood for French style cooking."

  • "One of the best brunches that we have had in Omaha!"

  • "The wine selection is only French wines which we were not familiar with but sampled a couple and they weren't good enough to order considering the price. The food was not that great except for the beet salad. The entrees were way too salty. The best thing it has going for it is the charming atmosphere but unfortunately that isn't enough to get us to come back again."

  • "Have been wanting to dine here for some time and chose it for a special occasion. Had to send the clams back because they were gritty. They were in a fois gras broth that was just didn't work- not good. The arroz a la plancha was delicious but better as a smaller portion because it's rich and heavy. I ordered the Piedmontese bistro steak that was cooked perfectly but overwhelmingly SALTY! Could not eat much of it. The waitress removed the clams and steak from the bill but it kind of ruined the night. Macaroons and rum cake were excellent. I hope this was an off night. I might go back if they get good reviews in the future. But no time soon. Now I'm hesitant to try the Boiler Room."

  • "We very much enjoyed our experience at this wonderful Omaha French Restaurant. Upon our initial greeting from Haley, who was our waitperson to the wonderful cuisine, our experience was outstanding and memorable. We were extremely impressed with Haley, her knowledge, her commitment to ensuring our experience in her 'restaurant' was the best ever. Special kudos to her for exhibiting outstanding customer service. Loved our experience and the Bistro steak and duck breast were sensational... run, don't walk to this delightful restaurant."

  • "The Loire wine tasting meal and wine pairing dinner was outstanding. In particular, the duck breast main course, with confit, Brussel sprout and strawberries was memorable, a real winner. Mussels were best I have had in Omaha and broth was delicious. Thank you."

  • "Excellent dinner at Le Bouillon on Saturday. Service was outstanding. Whole sardines were very good as was the grilled romaine salad. Husband had the Bistro steak and although not really unique in any way, it was delicious."

  • "I took my husband and two friends to Le Bouillon for his birthday. The food was wonderful. We had the Wagyu steak (cooked perfectly rare, cool, but not cold, bloody, but not soppy), and the duck (tender, flavorful, the sauce was to die for). We also enjoyed the Littleneck Clams, which were the best I've ever had, along with the serrano ham to start. The drinks were just alright. I had the Gin and Jam which was lovely, but nothing too special. The service was nice. For four people with drinks, appetizers and meals the bill wasn't over the top, which I appreciated. I would love to dine here again, and highly recommend it!"

  • "Had a great late night dinner here. They seated us in a nice secluded corner as there was a wedding party there that wanted to hoop it up a bit. We were undisturbed in our little nook. Our server was friendly, knowledgable and humorous. The southern France northern Spain cuisine was delicious bursting with flavor. We will definitely be back!"

  • "My family took me here for my birthday at my request. They are not into "overly fussy" or "fancy" foods, so I was worried that they would not find anything on the menu they would be willing to try. Our server was great and recommend and described the various dishes, helping even the most "meat and potatoes" person at our table decide that this was the best meal they had ever had in Omaha. Cannot recommend Le Bouillon enough. *PS, as my sister and I were walking around the corner outside the resturaunt, Chef came out and personally thanked us for dining with them. Just a nice touch to a great meal."

  • "Our first time since French Café days. We liked the openness achieved through remodeling efforts. Food and Service - Excellent; with the exception of a boring lettuce salad."

  • "Our first time in this space in a couple years, we were very excited about a new French spot opening in Omaha. Le Bouillon did not disappoint. To start, the "Bon Homme" cocktail was outstanding; sort of like a Sazerac but much sweeter (you can ask them about the liqueur they use). One mishap in the food led to an onslaught of outstanding service by the management team. They truly went over the top to ensure we had a great experience and we really did. You can't go wrong with any dish and if you haven't been there yet, you need to check it out."

  • "We booked an early time and although the main dining area was empty, we were seated in a side room. The service was puzzlingly patronizing, considering the fact that we were dressed more than acceptably and have dined in many parts of the world, so we could have hardly looked like hayseeds. The spring lettuce was nice but the dressing, though very good, was confined to a few leaves of lettuce on the top of the salad with none in the main part. The roast chicken tasted like it was pre-cooked then roasted as an afterthought. The restaurant is too penny-pinching with the vegetables, that is, there are none unless you order separately. We will not eat there again."

  • "I would certainly come back to Le Bouillon again and plan to. Everything about it was great. The atmosphere was romantic (though there is a less romantic section for those who don't want that kind of atmosphere!), the service was fantastic (waitress explained all the fancy dishes to us uneducated folks), and the food was absolutely wonderful. Very very good and can't wait to go back."

  • "I'm not sure why I would go back? Champagne in a wine glass doesn't feel celebratory. I am a light eater, but I left ravishing after a tiny helping of overpriced, tasteless Fisherman's Stew and a salad that had nothing to it. The few pieces of seafood were swimming in a butter broth which I quickly tried to remove to healthy ground. Similar to the food, the ambience is also lacking. I am so disappointed in Le Bouillon. I really wanted to love it. We went there for a special occasion, and I left wishing we had gone to one of our tried and true favorite places in town. I hope changes will be made because the location and the building set up for a beautiful place to dine!"

  • "Whether you are an Omahan or a visitor, you owe yourself a visit to Le Bouillon. Food is excellent, equal to what you might find on either coast. We had 3 appetizers, salads, two main courses and a dessert. All were exceptional, but Rock shrimp toast rocked. As a foodie, I enjoy really enjoy well prepared and presented dishes with pleasing, subtle, but unique flavors - see if you can connect some flavor notes to the chef's unique background. Check out the cocktail menu for intriguing craft offerings you may never have tasted before. Wine list is predominantly French, very interesting selection of wines. Every wine we had was excellent. Staff is very knowledgeable. A table at the window looking out over the Old Market is always fun."

  • "I am part of a small group which dines out once a month - as a result, we have had dinner at practically every Omaha restaurant known for its "fine dining" as well as others not known to be quite so "fine." We had waited until Le Bouillon had gotten its "bearings" before eating there, and the experience was worth the wait. All dinner selections were generous, perfectly prepared, and presented. The portions were generous - two in our party made a meal of small plates. The wait-staff was very helpful, courteous, and attentive. GREAT night out. One last note - getting a good cup of coffee at a restaurant in Omaha (any restaurant) is next to impossible. The coffee at Le Bouillon was the exception...it was superb. "

  • "We arrived at 7:30 per our reservation and did not get done till 9:30. Server didn't come around as often as you'd expect for a restaurant as pricey as this one. Bread was burned and had to be returned. Food is so so. If you want French food, try Dario's Brasserie or La Voltaire. About the only reason to go there is if you into being at the Old Market."

  • "Our meal was wonderful. Order the Arroz a la Plancha! It was unlike anything we have ever eaten, delicious! The Shellfish Bourride and the Beef Ribeye( to share) were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The staff was very courteous, attentive and helpful with the menu."

  • "The interior design left a lot to be desired and it felt like I was eating at any place in the old market. The prices were mid tier but the majority of the staff were dressed like they were chilling at moms reading before having to go to their job. Food was prepared right but the orders always seems to magically be the next most expensive item. I felt like my waitress was trying to pad her sales and disregarded the actual order. Then an appetizer was recommended and promised to be brought out, but we still had to ask for it after our entres arrived. Because of the restaurant tax and the servers mind-slip add ons the meal for two was $250~ before tip. It wasn't really worth it. So keep trying if you want to find a real special place."

  • "Visited Le Boullion with another couple, first time for all of us. Had a great experience, the host and server were very friendly and knowledgeable of the wine list and amount of food to order. There are a lot of shared plates on the menu, so we ordered several items to share. The House Lardo Charcuterie and the Arroz a La Plancha were our favorites, although everything was delicious. Both these dishes were recommended by our server, and not what we would have chosen, so this was a very pleasant surprise. There wasn't anything on the dessert menu that interested us, so that was the only down side. "

  • "Service: The waitress was knowledgeable but went missing for most of the meal. Food: We really enjoyed the Crab Salad and Butter Lettuce Salad. The salads had very unique and pleasing flavors. Les Toasts were lukewarm. The Arroz a la Plancha received mixed reviews with my dinner partner not caring for it, but I enjoyed it immensely. If you like short ribs this dish is sure to please. On the other hand the Braised Escargot received the universal comment that it was a waste of good snails. Unhappy with the service and the food not generally fitting with our expectations, we decided to skip coffee and dessert opting to go elsewhere. Atmosphere: Beautiful, not crowded and quiet. Cost: Quite reasonable for a French inspired menu. "

  • "Le Bouillon creates a culinary experience that transports diners to southwestern France with honest food. The flavors are layered, authentic, & straight out of the rustic kitchens of the French and Spanish Basque region. I am a huge fan of James Beard Award nominee Chef Paul Kulik & so grateful for the ways he has elevated the culinary culture of Omaha—Le Bouillon fortifies his legacy as a taste-maker in the city & someone who continues to set the standard for dinning excellence. Le Bouillon’s ambiance is warm & inviting—modern & tasteful. Everything on the menu is designed to compliment each of its offerings. Sunday brunch is fabulous. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. When in Omaha, Le Bouillon is a must."

  • "My husband and I went for dinner and we loved every incredible bite. We shared the lardon charcuterie plate and it was beautifully sliced thinly into ribbons with blackberries and a pistachio paste. I had the frisée salad which was very flavorful and the egg on it was great. My husband had the squash soup and was delighted with it. I had the shirt ribs plancha with incredible favors. My husband has the pork and we both enjoyed having leftovers to savor at home. Can't wait to return. Our wait person was a little too chatty, but it was his last night. Love the atmosphere and lighting."

  • "Love the ambience of the new decor - very bright, open and airy. The oyster bar is always good. Would recommend the pork entree - and make sure you have your waiter describe how it's prepared - it was very delicious. Other savory dishes we sampled were the buttered cabbage, beet salad, cassoulet and the poule au pot. All well prepared. If you are a gin and tonic lover, they make their own tonic in house - it was incredibly good. Also, they carry a boutique gin from Missouri - the juniper flavor is mighty fine. Enjoy!"

  • "Choice of 2 portions for each dish made ordering fun, ie a little bit of this or more of that. A little pricey for Omaha but you would pay twice the price in other metropolises for locally sourced, gourmet fare at this level of quality. Every dish (we had 6) was absolutely fresh, beautiful and delicious."

  • "Oh dear.,for us who travel to France each year and have the privilege of the genuine food feast this experience fell short.Maybe we were expecting too much. Waited over 30mins to be seated, while waiting patiently for drinks we got told there was a problem with the "ticketing system",not really something we need to know.Bar staff were knowledgable and efficient. Our waiter was exceptional and a bright spot of the night. Energetic and animated and constantly apologizing for our experience on everything. We were seated in what can only be termed an audio nightmare. Next to a large very rowdy group, it made our evening less than romantic. We were shifted at last to the right side.Complimentary desserts, port to finish helped. Good effort."
