  • Good but not quite what I was expecting

I made reservations at Le Bistro for a romantic night out with my wife. The restaurant sits in a somewhat run-down little strip mall/ plaza. Strangely enough, the seafood bar next door offered valet service despite the fact that it looked like your standard...well...bar. Le Bistro is certainly more quaint than we were expecting. My wife wore a nice dress and I was wearing a shirt and tie and, upon entering, we immediately felt over-dressed. The restaurant atmosphere had the feel of a place that was decorated to hide its age. There was also only one occupied table, which made the reservation feel a little silly. To be fair, it was 6:30 on a Thursday night. Our server was essentially running the entire front of the house on his own, including answering the phone. He was very enthusiastic and accommodating. He had a strong knowledge of the menu and was able to make suggestions for everything. Very well done there, though he could probably use a hand. We had a bottle of wine which was way overpriced, but that's kind of par-for-the-course for ordering alcohol at a restaurant. We had the baby octopus as an appetizer, our entrees were the lamb chops and the veal scallopini, and for dessert we had the Belgium chocolate parfait (yeah I don't know why it wasn't "Belgian" either). The food was very good. All proteins were cooked properly/perfectly to order. The seasoning was on point. The dessert was delicious. Very well done on the menu, as well. Our compliments to the chef. All in all, it's a nice little place. The restaurant itself could use a facelift and I wish for their sake that it was a bit busier, but they nailed the food and the service was excellent.

I visited Le Bistro with my best buddy recently as a result of viewing a 2010 edition of Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsey. It was typical Ramsey--lots of yelling, but in the end the problems are seemingly solved. And solved they are. The 2014 version of Le Bistro is a treasure that I would not have discovered if not watching re-runs of a TV show on a slow, weekday afternoon. The restaurant feels very cozy and welcoming. We both ordered the Beef Wellington which was tender, juicy and filled with flavor. The entire meal--soup, salad, entree and dessert--was outstanding. No doggie bags for us. Service was outstanding. Yes, Le Bistro is a neighborhood dream and we are already awaiting our next visit for a Thanksgiving day feast.

We enjoyed our experience so much. We ordered from the Ft.Lauderdale Dine out menu -$35 a person a great value for a 4 course gourmet, high quality meal that was even prepared Gluten- free for our dietary needs! The Dine Out menu choices were printed into the regular menu and we never had to request it! We celebrated my husband's birthday and the excellent servers(fantastic and well mannered busboy) came out with a lit candle in his dessert and a song! My husband had the rib eye steak($5 add) and I had the sauteed snapper entree, both were delicious!

Used to go with some frequency and never had a bad meal or poor service, but didn't go back for many years. (Chef Ramsey's television show didn't help, not that I thought it was at all fair given our experience.) Went with out of town visitors last Saturday and found it delightful. The food was delicious and the prices on wine and food were more than reasonable. Good service and we were never rushed. Really had a good time and will start going back with more frequency!!!!!

We were very disappointed in the Holiday Meal we had. The owner's wife was not a very pleasant person that evening. There was a lamp in the corner where our table was and my daughter could not even move - it was so tight. We asked them if they could remove the lamp while we were eating and they adamantly said NO!!!!!! It was the owner's wife who is also part owner of the restaurant. They charged $12.00 for a glass of prosecco and we ordered 4 of them. Way overpriced! The food was also tasteless. Chicken soup for the Rosh Hashana holiday didn't even resemble chicken soup. I know that The top chef Ramsay was there a few years back to help them get back on their feet. But in my estimation they had better work on food and attitude.

Wanted to give this restaurant a try and boy was it worth it!! Love a privately owned and operated neighborhood place...with excellent food and service. Went for the pre-fixe menu. More than worth it. Each course was amazing! The lamb chops were excellent as was the escargot. The sorbet was better than I thought sorbet could be. We ordered a glass of wine, then decided to have the bottle after. The wait staff was so very accommodating. I would return and refer someone looking for a small intimate delicious dining experience.

A very good French restaurant, and the prix fixe meal is the way to go, otherwise it gets a bit pricy. The desserts are a special treat and even something as mundane as sorbet is amazing. The owners including the chef are wonderful, and very customer oriented. Its a great place for a special occasion when you have yen for French food.

Our third time here over the course of a year, a long schlep from west-of-Boynton Beach, but worth it, as we were reminded again. Le Bistro is small, cozy, owned & operated by a husband-&-wife who are dedicated to fine food, perfectly prepared, with the highest-quality ingredients. The "prix-fixe" four-course dinners (the main course selection establishes the price of the meal) are extremely modest in price considering what you get, presumably because of the low overhead. The wine list is an intelligent selection across a wide price range (we ordered a bottle from their list which was perfect for our table selections, but in prior visits we brought our own and the corkage service was friendly & reasnably-priced). Highly recommended!

I was so pleasantly surprised at our over all experience at Le Bistro. It's just a store front in a strip mall until you walk in the front door. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The waiter came to us...advised us on our wine choice...which was delicious. Informed us of the specials, a rather extensive list of starters and entrees. There was a choice of the 4 course price prix menu or an a la carte menu. We felt the presentation, amount and quality of the food was in line with the price. The service was wonderful, friendly and very efficient. We do intend to go back to Le Bistro and look forward to sharing the experience with friends and family.

We found the reviews online, both thru Trip Advisor and Open Table, to be positive (there were a few negatives, and we find those occasional negatives more of a 'plant' than a real review; are they just troublemakers?). Found LeBistro on open table and checked the reviews. Also checked Trip Adviser. I decided to book it for myself and a friend. Despite the strip mall location this is a really good local restaurant! Certainly cannot argue with the food, everything was delicious. We both ordered the fixed price selection - and it is a great value for the money. My friend had the ahi appetizer which was fantastic and the duck entree, and the duck was outstanding! I had the lamb chops and they perfectly cooked, juicy and delicious. The wine list is not big but there are some good bottles and the prices are reasonable. And of course being a French place you have to have dessert! Our server was really nice - very friendly and helpful.
