Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent prix fix dinner. All 5 courses were outstanding."

  • "Le Bistro's cuisine is right up there with the finest restaurants in New York and Paris. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Very good wine list - and reasonably priced selection. Excellent servers. A hidden gem in Incline Village!"

  • "wonderful meal, small tasting portions, many plates equals a fantastic meal."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Felt veey catered to. Five course selection very good. It was our anniversary and they wrote a special "Happy Anniversary " in chocolate on our dessert plate! Really sweet touch! Would definitely recommend visiting on any trip back to Tahoe!!"

  • "Great meal. Great service. Great atmosphere. The menu selections are numerous and outstanding. The wine selection is very good and our waiter was very helpful in our selection and very careful to ensure that we were aware of the prices of the wines recommended. A wonderful experience. We will be back."

  • "Love the atmosphere, small and friendly. Food presentation was photo worthy. Soup was delicious, salad fresh and tasty. I had the lamb - very tasty but a little chewy and my friend had halibut which was great. Delightful sampler desert. Service very good but did feel a little rushed, overall a lovely experience and will definitely go back."

  • "The restaurant provided a wonderful dining experience. Excellent service, great 5 course meal, wonderful atmosphere ... We go there every time we visit Tahoe (an annual pilgrimage) and wouldn't miss it for the world. Kudos to David for the excellent treatment we received! The only reason we didn't give the food an outstanding rating was because the sauces for the venison and tenderloin were very good, but not as fantastic as we had expected. We're a tough crowd, though. Fantastic place."

  • "We finally decided to try Le Bistro after seeing so many highly rated reviews. The best way to describe our meal is that it was pleasant. The meal was $55 for five courses and was worth the money. Aside from a really bad plate of appetizers, all dishes were OK, neither very good nor very bad. On the plus side, everything was cooked and finished as requested. The restaurant is attractive and quiet and the wait staff competent. Le Bistro is certainly not the best restaurant in the North Tahoe area and does not deserve the accolades it has gotten. For serious dining I would avoid it. If you want ordinary food in comfortable surroundings at a fair price, then this could be your place."

  • "We have going here for every summer for 17 years and always had a great meal with great friendly service. Jean Pierre and his family run a great restaurant with great French food at a good value"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "The restaurant has been open for 23 years, and it feels like the menu hasn't been updated in 23 years. It is decent French food with no flair of innovation or inspiration."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "In fact, Le Bistro is the best food to be found around Lake Tahoe. It's an exceptional bargain at $55 for 5 courses (!), with a large and varied French-oriented menu. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable service, and a smart wine list. If you can find the place, you'll have a wonderful time and an excellent meal."

  • "We were enticed into the 5 course Prix Fix menu (although you can do a la carte ordering) - a lot of food! The appetizer, soup and salads were outstanding in taste and presentation. The main entrée was cooked well, but was overpowered by the sauces and accompaniments - a little strong for our tastes. Deserts were wonderful."

  • "I celebrated my birthday with some friends at Le Bistro. Everything, from the complementary appetizers to the "Grand Dessert" was delicious. We chose to order a la carte, because, even though the prix fixe dinner was reasonable, it would have been too much food for us. Younger, hungrier people could make it through easily, though. I had the escargot salad and beef tournedos. Fabulous! Our table tried almost everything from the menu, and loved every morsel. We had wine by the glass, and every selection was a "perfect pairing"! The food was amazing, but we did find the room a bit crowded and noisy. They were probably loving their dinners as much as we did, and that small matter won't prevent us from returning for our special occasions."

  • "only complaint is that it's a fixed price, 5 course menu. I'd much prefer an ala carte menu where i can pick my own appetizer, enree, and that's it. 5 courses is just too much food, in my opinion. Otherwise we thought it was good, food and service both good to very good."

  • "After a grueling 7 hour drive to Lake Tahoe we called Le Bistro to let them know we would be a bit late. No problem they said. We were welcomed warmly and given a small plate of delicious appetizers while looking at the menu. Every course of the 5 course "Prix Fix" menu was beautifully presented and amazingly good with incredible depth of flavor. It was truly one of the best meals we have ever had. The service was excellent and we were not rushed even though we were the last people in the restaurant. We asked to see Chef Jean-Pierre so we could thank him for such a wonderful meal and he graciously came to our table. As foodies (I'm a chef) and food snobs, we highly recommend this little jewel for a romantic, incredible meal. "

  • "French dining at its best. The five-course dinner had several choices per course and everything was delicious. Enjoyed the soups, salad, appetizers the most since this the mot inventive (loved the mackerel!) but the steak and veal was excellent too. The wine list was as excellent as Wine Spectator promised."

  • "I haven't had food that amazing since being abroad, the decor could use some updating, but I went there for the food not the decor."

  • "I had a fantastic meal here for a very reasonable prix-fixe price. Five course meal with alternate courses cleansing the palette for the next. Try the watercress salad. I'm also not usually a lamb fan, but decided to give it a shot here since it's a French restaurant. It was absolutely amazing and I'm glad, now, that duck confit wasn't on the menu that night. The Matire'D made me feel very comfortable and was great at small talk (I was dining alone); also made the perfect wine recommendation. The atmosphere and seating is French country with an open floor plan, but was quiet nonetheless. The chef came out in person to greet. The presentation here was authentically French (very pretty)."

  • "As we entered the restaurant, we noticed how small it was. 4 booths and several tables, each one beautifully set with china and fresh roses! Happily greeted by David, who was the host and waiter. He was so personable, that he made us feel like we were with a welcomed friend. Our service started with an amuse-bouche,which was delicious. The dinners are prefixed, with a 5 course tasting menu, and incredibly reasonably priced. Most of the fruits and vegetables are organically grown and their French bread is from Acme Bakery in Berkeley, and prepared with organic flours. I can't say enough how delicious and beautiful each dish was. Some day when we go back to Lake Tahoe, we will make sure to return to this fantastic gem of a restaurant!"

  • "My wife and I had a fabulous meal at Le Bistro recently. We have been to this restaurant before several times, and the chef continues to deliver a very french culinary experience, and this night was no exception. Each of the 5 courses was prepared with creativity along with wonderful flavor and attractive presentation. The desert course is also not to be missed. Although the 5 course meal is pricey, with the high quality and wonderful food, i felt it was a worth value as well."

  • "This restaurant is very very special. The food is fantastic. This particular evening my husband had the monkfish. And he kept raving about it with each bite. I had the boeuf bourguignon the wine sauce was reduced to a delicate finish. Marvelous!"

  • "With its well priced "prix fixe" menu, Le Bistro is a place to enjoy the many small delicious courses at a leisurely pace. Great for spending time with others or a romantic dinner for two. Always reliable in terms of food and service. Good wine selection too!"

  • "Had a great dinner with wife and daughter. We ordered the Prix Fixe menu and weren't disappointed. The lamb and the desserts were delicious. The lobster bisque was out of the world. Service was fantastic. Will definitely visit again."

  • "Dining at Le Bistro was every bit as good this time as it was all the other times we have been. They always have a five course fixed price menu with many choices. The portions are perfect as is the presentation and flavor."

  • "We have dined at Le Bistro on several different occasions and have always found the food and service to be outstanding. However, this is a small restaurant that can become loud when it is full. We visited on a busy weekend night and had the misfortune to be seated next to a large group celebrating a birthday. They left midway through our meal, then, another large and even louder group of young men arrived. Our dining experience was not so enjoyable because of the noisy conditions. The food at Le Bistro is exceptional and we will probably dine there again, but not at a time when they are likely to be busy."

  • "We celebrated our Valentines dinner there. The food and service was impeccable. I have nothing bad to say; it was an excellent experience. Even with a big party there at the same time, the service was timely and someone was always watching to make sure all our needs were met. There was NO DELAY and NO EXCUSES because of the large group. For the first three courses my wife and I had different choices and all were excellent. I had a wonderful Ahi Tuna Napoleon. We each had the Beef Tournedoes and devoured them. The four desert Grand Desert was indeed grand. It is our favorite place for special occasions"
