Diner Reviews
  • "I had a fantastic meal here for a very reasonable prix-fixe price. Five course meal with alternate courses cleansing the palette for the next. Try the watercress salad. I'm also not usually a lamb fan, but decided to give it a shot here since it's a French restaurant. It was absolutely amazing and I'm glad, now, that duck confit wasn't on the menu that night. The Matire'D made me feel very comfortable and was great at small talk (I was dining alone); also made the perfect wine recommendation. The atmosphere and seating is French country with an open floor plan, but was quiet nonetheless. The chef came out in person to greet. The presentation here was authentically French (very pretty)."

  • "As we entered the restaurant, we noticed how small it was. 4 booths and several tables, each one beautifully set with china and fresh roses! Happily greeted by David, who was the host and waiter. He was so personable, that he made us feel like we were with a welcomed friend. Our service started with an amuse-bouche,which was delicious. The dinners are prefixed, with a 5 course tasting menu, and incredibly reasonably priced. Most of the fruits and vegetables are organically grown and their French bread is from Acme Bakery in Berkeley, and prepared with organic flours. I can't say enough how delicious and beautiful each dish was. Some day when we go back to Lake Tahoe, we will make sure to return to this fantastic gem of a restaurant!"

  • "My wife and I had a fabulous meal at Le Bistro recently. We have been to this restaurant before several times, and the chef continues to deliver a very french culinary experience, and this night was no exception. Each of the 5 courses was prepared with creativity along with wonderful flavor and attractive presentation. The desert course is also not to be missed. Although the 5 course meal is pricey, with the high quality and wonderful food, i felt it was a worth value as well."

  • "This restaurant is very very special. The food is fantastic. This particular evening my husband had the monkfish. And he kept raving about it with each bite. I had the boeuf bourguignon the wine sauce was reduced to a delicate finish. Marvelous!"

  • "With its well priced "prix fixe" menu, Le Bistro is a place to enjoy the many small delicious courses at a leisurely pace. Great for spending time with others or a romantic dinner for two. Always reliable in terms of food and service. Good wine selection too!"

  • "Had a great dinner with wife and daughter. We ordered the Prix Fixe menu and weren't disappointed. The lamb and the desserts were delicious. The lobster bisque was out of the world. Service was fantastic. Will definitely visit again."

  • "Dining at Le Bistro was every bit as good this time as it was all the other times we have been. They always have a five course fixed price menu with many choices. The portions are perfect as is the presentation and flavor."

  • "We have dined at Le Bistro on several different occasions and have always found the food and service to be outstanding. However, this is a small restaurant that can become loud when it is full. We visited on a busy weekend night and had the misfortune to be seated next to a large group celebrating a birthday. They left midway through our meal, then, another large and even louder group of young men arrived. Our dining experience was not so enjoyable because of the noisy conditions. The food at Le Bistro is exceptional and we will probably dine there again, but not at a time when they are likely to be busy."

  • "We celebrated our Valentines dinner there. The food and service was impeccable. I have nothing bad to say; it was an excellent experience. Even with a big party there at the same time, the service was timely and someone was always watching to make sure all our needs were met. There was NO DELAY and NO EXCUSES because of the large group. For the first three courses my wife and I had different choices and all were excellent. I had a wonderful Ahi Tuna Napoleon. We each had the Beef Tournedoes and devoured them. The four desert Grand Desert was indeed grand. It is our favorite place for special occasions"

  • "We have gone to this establishment for over 25 yrs and it is still the best in Incline Village. Presentation is wonderful but the taste is better. Never disappointed"

  • "We had a very fine experience at Le Bistro. Each course was delicious, and we left out the soup first course, and just worked from the menu instead of Prix Fixe. The steamed green bean with almond salad was unique, and husband loved his filet, while I don't remember a better presentation of lamb. We only had room for a shared sampling of little desserts, but they were all exquisite."

  • "We visited twice and very much enjoyed the chef's menu on both occasions. Presentation is superb; each dish a work of art and tasty, too. Everything lovely and wine with fewer sulfites, which meant no headaches for our friend the next day."

  • "Incredible selection on a prix fixe menu. Chef Jean-Pierre trained at Michelin 3 star Lameloise in France. We had just eaten at Lameloise in October and was surprised to find Le Bistro. The food here is just as delicious and 1/4 of the cost. The presentation was exceptional. We had soup, appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. A great half bottle of wine, Cote du Rhone. A wonderful evening to celebrate our anniversary. We will return to this restaurant frequently!"

  • "Although we went on a night when it wasn't crowded, we have been on a night when it was crowded. Both times, the food and service were excellent. We always get the prix fixe menu and I always leave full. The food is delicious and fresh. The staff is friendly."

  • "My third visit to this restaurant was on New Year's Eve and it was spectacular. The wait staff moved through the full restaurant with such grace and ease that no one felt hurried. and the food … excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant, not just for special occasions, but for when you truly want a unique dining experience with tastes that are sure to please every palate. I would not recommend this restaurant for young children. The limited menu choices might make it hard to please them."

  • "This was our first visit to Le Bistro and we were very happy. The food was very good, creative and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was pleasantly casual and friendly. We found the prices to be very reasonable, given the quality of the food."

  • "Food is fantastic. The owner/manager (?) waffles between being super friendly and helpful to being a bit of a git. So, not quite sure about what's going on there. This was our second time dining here and it was the same both times. One example that comes to mind (among others) is when he came up to the table, while my friend had one bite still left on her plate--and clearly not actively pursuing that last bite, he basically rolled his eyes and asked if she was done. Not really sure what he was trying to get across, but his annoyance was palpable. Anyway, very delicious food and worth putting up with a few eye-rolls to eat it."

  • "better than we expected. we have lived in Incline for 3 years, and this was our first time to Le Bistro. The service was a bit uneven, I think they might have been a bit understaffed due to Shoulder Season, but the food was outstanding. My wife had fish and I had venison, both perfectly cooked. we will go back again."

  • "A lovely, little restaurant tucked behind other restaurants off Country Club Drive. We all enjoyed the wonderful Acme Bread. The Tomato Bisque w/ Puff Pastry Shell was rich & flavorful but know to prepare will delay the entire meal. Duck Liver Mousse & Potato Gnocchi are perfect starters; Escargot is marvelous with a great (but small) Romaine Salad, we would love to had in a larger salad version w/o snails for those not interested. Everyone enjoyed the Baby Lettuces w/Apples & Cranberries & Balsamic Dressing. Entre's: Halibut with Orzo, Tenderloins with Bleu Cheese & Duck Confit w/Lentils were each marvelous! Save room for the House' Le Grand Dessert - a darling selection of mini pasties, get 2 to share for 4 people."

  • "We have been coming to Tahoe since we were kids ... for our seventh wedding anniversary, someone recommended this place in Incline. Completely surprised! Our trusted friends are always solid ... this was just better than we would have ever thought it could have been! Food, service, experience, all six stars."

  • "Perhaps in Incline Village, this passes as a 5 star restaurant. But where I am from, the food here needs a lot of work, and they put WAY too much salt in all of their dishes. Service was minimal, as they barely communicated with you and even forgot my drink order. In the end, I wanted to bill so badly because I wanted to get out of there."

  • "My wife and I ate there for the first time because we were looking for a nice place for dinner in the North Lake Tahoe area. We're from San Francisco and New York, and have traveled a lot of the world and we both agreed that Le Bistro was not only the best restaurant we've eaten at in the Tahoe area, but one of the best anywhere. A terrific find. The 5 course dinner, with each plate being a relatively small/moderate size, and each unique and presented beautifully was perfect. The only problem, and it's not a big one, is that the restaurant is hidden in the back of a shopping area and a little hard to find. Look for it -- it's well worth it."

  • "We celebrated a special birthday at this upscale, but small French restaurant. The menu is a five course "prix- fixe" with lots of choices. Wine is extra so it is great value for the money but count on about $80 a person. All items are very authentic French. I had a potato gnocchi , green bean salad and duck confit, all of which were excellent. Our guest had the lamb- also very good. Portions are small but very satisfying. We all thoroughly enjoyed the desert plate of well made miniatures. Having forgotten to notify them of our friend's birthday they nice scrambled with a decorative plate of chocolate complete with candle."
