  • "Delicious entrees and wines. My wife and I love dining at this little bistro every week. The chef makes all from scratch. Last week we ordered the Veal Bolognese & Pasta and the Garlic Shrimp. Nice selection of wines at a good price...2 for 1! Nice atmosphere, feels like New York."

  • "We were in the area and had heard about this cute little restaurant nearby. Quite impressed by the high quality ingredients and the love the Chef puts into each menu item we ordered, The service was good a paced nicely for us to enjoy our dinner and each others company. The wines also remarkable. We tasted a few different ones to explore the listing, and we were impressed as well, especially at the low pricing for the high quality. We also ready have plans to dine here again next week with some friends."

  • "went with a couple to try the restaurant. It's small but did not have the feel of being crowded. Nice atmosphere. Good menu and our waitress was very helpful. The young lady must have been nervous....she kept forgetting items we needed to eat our dinner with. It was a pleasure to dine on tasty food....the signature dish of gulf shrimp was good(I snagged one from my husband). The salmon was equally delicious. Loved the French onion soup...will go back and get take out. And the mini-dessert of chocolate mousse and creme' brulee was delicious too. It was a pleasure to talk with the chef after our meal, and he described how he cooks his dishes. Nice touch. Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Avila was a pleasure. I wish them well."

  • "The food here is good, and my wife and I are glad we ate here. The cocktails on the other hand... the two glasses of wine my wife ordered were not priced properly on the menu, and when the bill came it was a bit of a surprise to be $2 a glass more. I had two gin martinis and was extremely surprised by the fact that they were $12 apiece!! I haven't paid that much for martinis since the last time we dined in NYC or Washington DC, or any other major city. To pay $12 for a martini, in a small martini glass, in Torrington, CT is a bit ridiculous. The only complaint about the food was the desert. We ordered the duo "sampler" of mousse and creme brûlée, both personal sample sizes.... also $12!"

  • "Lots of chatter in the area about this great little find, and nice reviews too. We were very pleased with the menu, some classic dishes with the freshest ingredients, extensive preparation, and nice presentation. The dining room is adorable and service very friendly. Wines are a must and a great value. Dined here for date nite, and will be back again and again."

  • "The restaurant tries very hard. The food is fresh and prepared as ordered and nicely done. The chef does what he does well. The staff is pleasant. With a good chef in the kitchen, I would like to see a more interesting menu. The selections were limited but also limited in originality. It is supposed to be Spanish influenced but we found no hint of real Spanish. I would try them again if I check the menu and there are newer choices. I think the chef/owner could rise to the occasion. I hesitated to answer yes to recommend because of my above noted comments."

  • "This adorable find is nestled in the corner on Rt 202 in Torrington. Met a friend and the Chef prepared us some wonderful dishes...Mussels Chardonnay and Chicken Empanadas for Appetizers, as well as Garlic Gambas and Salmon HoneyMustard for Entrees. Very Fresh and the taste was transcendent. Portions size was perfect. Great atmosphere too..very friendly and nice music. Check it out, you are sure to love it."

  • "Wow, not what we expected ! Chef Hector can cook, but so much wrong . inexperienced waitstaff, a hostess trying to upsell at the table, Charcuteria missing key ingreds - xpensive 4 what recv'd, my husband was done with his tiny piece of salmon and fist size of potato and veggie by time I got all my mussels out of shell. I tried to order the starter portion of mussles as main, but was told "we are known for our main dishes" (really!) When I asked for grated cheese which is a natural for pasta, I got a small dish of shredded mozzerella ... Asked for bread and got stale breadsticks! I want to call Restaurant Impossible - 'cause Chef Hector's food tastes good, but overall Le Bistro needs a lot of help to make us want to return."

  • "Informed through a magazine article, which described Le Bistro as a "Diamond in the rough". Good characterization based on the all of the heat and serve places around town, and the physical setting of this particular restaurant. When you enter, it is like stepping inside one in New York City. Very warm and welcoming with the vines, white lights and pictures. Have dined few times and keep coming back for more, sometimes its bustling and others quiet. Many of our friends now frequent here too. Food is exceptional, with flavor and very fresh. So pleasing that we order to take out during weeknights, when we do not have a sitter. They also offer Sunday Brunch which is pleasant and unique."

  • "Food here is Fantastic! Pleasant surprise for the area. Something you would expect to find in the City...makes sense, since the chef is from New York. Dining room decorated with white light and vines, and a beautiful granite bar. Everything we ordered burst with freshness and flavor. Our appetizers arrived quickly, and our entrees took a little longer since the chef prepares all of the dishes to order himself, and the seats filled up around us. Service was friendly and attentive. We relaxed with our European wines, which were a steal..$5 for French wine! Dessert is a must here, handmade chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Coming for brunch on Sunday, and will back for dinner next week."

  • "This new place has the freshest food and a interesting menus. Tucked in the corner on top of East Main St. I have dined there a couple of times, and the food is fresh and cooked to perfection, with presentation. Seafood entrees are refreshing. Be sure to try salmon or shrimp for dinner, and mussels as a starter. Wonderful wines for $6-8, that you won't find elsewhere. Very welcoming and friendly. The service is paced and can be slower as the tables fill up. Amazing nearby place to have in our area."
