  • "An English couple and a week in New York to celebrate my wife's birthday. The week before we flew a friend recommended Le Bernardin. Couldn't get a reasonably timed dinner reservation but managed to reserve lunch. What can I say. A week later and we're still talking about it. We eat out a lot in London but can't think of a British rival. The quality and presentation of all the fish dishes was superb and by London standards 75 dollars at 1.60 to the pound makes the whole experience an absolute steal. Attentive staff, good wine, we were sad to leave. Have already recommended the place to other friends who visit NY from time to time."

The only negative was the table we were seated at was in between the doors to the kitchen and we couldn't hear each other speak. Other than that, a good experience."

  • "Quality can never be cheap so one can understand that the carefully selected and artfully prepared seafood served in an elegant, sophisticated setting in mid-town Manhattan has a high price tag on it. The four- course prix fixe dinner is $130 and if one orders a decent bottle of wine you are soon talking about $400 for two including tip. Interesting to see customers from Asia obsessively stare at their smartphones without paying any attention to the beautiful food served. Strange world we live in."

  • "I have long known of Le Bernardin, for various reasons (Eric Ripert's book On the Line, food shows on television, and I write for a food-based blog, Mystery Lovers' Kitchen). However, I seldom travel to New York, and I rarely indulge myself at the financial level that Le Bernardin requires. However, life is short and uncertain, so I booked a luncheon with my sister who was visiting from the Midwest and who was celebrating a major birthday. The restaurant lived up to its reputation at all levels--food, ambiance, service. The food was exquisite in both presentation and flavor. The service was attentive without being intrusive--and no one hurried us, even though we were the last guests to leave after lunch. It was in all ways a memorable meal."

  • "We use to visit Michelin starred Rest. and the experience was very disappointing. We were given the wine list prior to the menu and went for a red wine, our surprise was that there's only fish in all the menus, an advise from the sommelier would had been appreciated. He poured our wine and made no mention on it nor any suggestion. The food was fine but with very similar taste and looking, nothing surprising or delightful. Was everything wrong? No, waiters were nice, meat needed a 24 hours advise but they offered it, bread waiter was especially kind, place is elegant but the food doesn’t deserve a single star, sommelier could be replaced by a waiter and the experience was closer to a business dinner rather than a gastronomic experience."

  • "We had a wonderful fine dining experience! The 4-course meal was a treat for the senses of taste and sight. The sommelier helped us choose the perfect Riesling to go with the meal. The service was very good. And of course, the additional food complements from the Chef highlighted the sense of our being treated as special guests. Thank you, Le Bernardin! While the dining room's sea-inspired interior design was beautiful, the water closets were another matter. It is as if the interior designer's services stopped after the corridor leading to the water closets. They were clean but not very different from a regular mom-and-pop diner."

  • "We went to Le Bernardin for lunch and we ordered Chef's tasting menu. At $198 per person, Food was just okay to good, and nothing really memorable. In my recent trip to NY, I have dined at several Michelin starred restaurants including Daniel, Eleven Madison Park, Jungsik, Jean Georges, Marea, etc. And, I have to say Le Bernardin was my least favourite for the price, food and the service we received. I was really disappointed with the food and the service compare to our experience at Daniel, Eleven Madison Park, Jungsik, Jean Georges and ACME. I am not sure if I am going to return here when next time I am in NY, because there are just so many restaurants and I don't want to spend $198 for okay food and okay service."

  • "Special night out for a friend's birthday. Service was great. The sommelier recommended a wine which I loved. Had the tasting menu - the highlights being the langoustine and surf and turf. The head chef was in the house that night so I managed to get one of his cookbooks signed. There were only one thing that really annoyed me. As we had an early 5.30pm booking, we weren't told until we confirmed our reservation beforehand that the table was due for another sitting at 8pm, which I thought was unusual for a fine dining restaurant. Usually the table is yours for the night. So they rushed us with the food which was a bit annoying. Other than that fantastic night!"

From start to finish - a trio of amuse-bouche through to the complimentary final sweets - it was superb . . . the complex flavors worked beautifully together, each dish was creative and gorgeously presented . . . and tasted every bit as good as it looked. The "surf and turf" course included some of the very best fish (grilled escolar) and beef (wagyu) that any of us had ever tasted. One of our sons is not generally a fish-lover, but relished every delectable bite! It is amazing that Eric Ripert has been able to keep Le Bernardin fresh and exciting all these years . . . truly one of the very best!"

  • "We would prefer to dine without time constraint, but four of us dined on March 13 before the theatre. We ordered from the prix fixe menu, and the food was delicious and the sauces divine. I had artichoke and escolar starters with Dover Sole as the main course. Sancerre Gueneau was our wine. It was an excellent accompaniment to our food. Julien and his colleagues swooped down on us and delivered great customer service. Every special request was met."
