Le BernardinA Marvelous Lunch.I had made my reservation for lunch a month in advance, so being seated promptly wasn't an issue. The servers were attentive from beginning to end, and timed each course perfectly. I started with the the Mesclun Salad which had just the right amount of dressing. For my main course I had the Halibut which was tender and perfect. For dessert I had the Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream with three Petit Fours. This was not my first time at Le Bernardin, and it won't be my last.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMperfectionThis restaurant continues to improve. Let's face it...it's hard to make a main course with fish that is really exciting. I usually love the appetizers and raw things, but the main course often disappoints. But not here. Had the skate and it was worth having many times.
One of the best in NYC if not the world.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBaerDelicious, excellent food, international top standard5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great mealExcellent service and food once again. Always a special treat to go to Le Bernardin. Fish is so tasty and fresh. Desserts melt in your mouth.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentFantastic restaurant, ideal setting for special occasions. The outstanding menu was served with genuine hospitality and the food was stunning.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafood; variable serviceThis is one of my favorite restaurants. You really can't find their combination of outstanding seafood and creative, perfectly balanced, sauces anywhere else. However, the quality of service varies a bit: it ranges from friendly and helpful to pedantic and obnoxious. I guess it amounts to what particular server you get on the occasion. But the food is so great that this won't prevent from returning every time I am in New York.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWill come back!!It is a well known for years restaurant and we found with my wife exactly what we were expecting.
Perfect ambient, service and superb food. My choise was the 7 dishes tasting menu with wine paring. I did not like one of the wines and they proposed another one, with no questions asked.
The first plate an almost raw hamachi was perfect and I will go back next time I will in in New York just to have this in a normal plate.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful pairing with wineWe had the Le Bernardin tasting menu with the matching wine and were really pleased with the 6 pairings. The wine complemented and enhanced the food and we appreciated the Sommelier’s descriptions and explanations. We do not often eat in restaurants of this level of sophistication but we felt comfortable and enjoyed the setting. The service was efficient but the explanations of the preparations were at times a little too fast for us. However, the staff were supper attentive - just after my wife mentioned to me in a normal conversational tone that the spoons were too large for the pre-desert offering, a waiter brought over two small spoons. We hope to be back on our next NYC trip.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic FoodWe chose the Le Benardin Tasting menu and it was fantastic. Every single dish is cooked to perfect timing and tasting. We will go back again if we return to NYC.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only restaurant that isThe only restaurant that is superb in all categories; ambience, service and food!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent lunchWe went here for lunch as it was impossible to get reservations for dinner. We went for the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings - excellent choice. Every dish was a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as always. BeenExcellent as always. Been there several times and recommended to friends and never have had an other than excellent experience..4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat can I say? The chef'sWhat can I say? The chef's menu was just incredible!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, a wonderful lunch. TheAs always, a wonderful lunch.
The only negative was that our "foursome" arrived at 12:30 for a 1pm res to have a pre-lunch drink.
We were escorted to the bar area, sat down and then waited for at least 10 minutes...no one waited on us.
With the exception of one table of two people,
we were the only people in the bar.
When we finally asked if we could order a drink, we were accommodated.
Perhaps they assumed that we were just waiting for our table,
but we did advise the person who met us at the door and brought us to the bar,
that we were going to have a drink before lunch.
Just a minor slip Eric, but....
you could loose a star over service slip-ups.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantsThis is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Everything was perfect. My only criticism was the choice of one of the wines, a Ribera del Duero, which was paired with the lobster. The wine was way too rough for the elegant dish. I would suggest a Yacochuya 2001 or 2003 or maybe even a Guayquil (Huarpe wineries) to go with this particular dish.
Otherwise it was a truly amazing dining experience. My compliments to the staff and master cheff Eric Ripert.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious!! I'veThe food was delicious!! I've never eatten something like that!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTotally Lived up to theirTotally Lived up to their reputation and our expectations! The meal was nothing short of spectacular! two words...Halibut and Perfection!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place, with nice service.A great place, with nice service. Good advices for choosing food.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion price and qualityWith parents visiting from Norway we decided for once to splurge and go to the best seafood restaurant we could think of. Since it was a birthday and because I am generally underwhelmed with the quality of seafood in New York restaurants, we were prepared that it would cost to get the highest quality. All four of us were particularly impressed with the appetizers that were part of the price fixe menu. The tastes were refined and lively. If anything at all could improve the meal in our opinion, it would be to add a bit of vegetable to the main course. Eating stupendously good fish with just sauce and garnishing is not quite as satisfying as having it with a bit of textural contrast and variety from a bit of vegetable or starch.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you have a special occasionIf you have a special occasion or just want to splurge this is the place to go to. We don't go often but when we do we are never disappointed. The food, service and ambiance are superb.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMStunning service and gorgeousStunning service and gorgeous room. The food was outstanding - freshest ingredients, subtle flavors, and amazing selection of wines and fish.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection from start to finish.Perfection from start to finish. Highly recommend the chef's tasting menu.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMtop three stars in AmericaLe Bernardin is really the best restaurant in town. It has excellent service, friendly and courteous. Food is fine, delicate and contemporaneous. Ambiance is cozy, making you feel à l'aise. Wine list and wine service: extensive, rich, with wide range of prices and options. Top notch sommeliers.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth the splurgeThe food is excellent! Really well executed! The flavours are incredible! We did a Chef's Tasting and Le Bernardin Tasting Menus with wine pairings. It is a lot of wine and you will not leave hungry. The pairings were interesting and thoughtfully selected and bang on.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAte here on April 5 for lunch.Ate here on April 5 for lunch. Absolutely transcendent dining experience. Every aspect of the restaurant is exceptional. The space, the service, and cuisine - all unmatched in my experience. The Dover Sole was absolutely delectable... sort of a trout menuiere but taken upmarket. Dessert and bread did not disappoint either. Chef Eric Ripert was a constant presence in the restaurant, so it is nice to know the man is on the premises.
To close, do your self a favor and eat here.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the seafood was outstandingAll the seafood was outstanding - the desert was good
The Wine List rather overpriced4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dinner, service, ambianceThe dinner, service, ambiance and presentation of foods was absolutely wonderful. A special kudo to the service staff who could not have been nicer or more helpful.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the best restaurantThis was the best restaurant I have ever been to. The menu is limited to seafood (for the most part) so if you don't like fish there is not much there for you. Incredible food, service, and ambiance. The wine list is extraordinary and the sommeliers are very helpful and friendly. My teenage sons also agree that it's the best experience they have had, and they have eaten in some very good restaurants throughout France.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectionEverything was amazing. I judge all other restaurants by Le Bernardin and very few live up to my expectations. Just perfect.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat expertise on behalfGreat expertise on behalf of the two sommeliers.
Wine pairings succesfully completed the superb tasting menu.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent creative frenchExcellent creative french food and service but only recommended for the very wealthy. Our meal for two was over $500 but worth it if you can afford it!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything you expect a 3Everything you expect a 3 Michelin Star restaurant to be. Friendly and attentive service, great food and atmosphere.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! One of the best restaurants I've been so far! Each dish has incomparable taste with special ingredients from many parts of the world.
Oh.. and don't be fooled by the dish sizes... I was very pleased after the 3 course meal.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAaaamazing!!!Words can't describe the riveting experience we had at Le Bernardin. I had the pleasure of returning to Le Bernardin after my first visit in 2004. We had the Le Bernardin Tasting menu ($147), which was the perfect portion for us. Notable dishes for me were the wild striped bass tartare, warm scallop "carpaccio", and crispy black bass. My boyfriend loved the lobster dish but I was okay. For cocktails, I recommend trying the Ginger Yuzu Cooler and the Brooklyn Bee. We also had a glass of Riesling Kabinett, Germany 2011, which was just perfect. Best part of the meal was the service (attentive and not pushy nornor snobby). They even gave us a dessert on the house when I mentioned we were celebrating.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an outstanding experience! We had an outstanding experience! The food, ambiance, service was memorable.Every aspect of our dining experience was beyond words! We cannot wait to return.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy European friends paid theMy European friends paid the check, and they continue to thank me for having chosen Le Bernardin.
I love this place.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant definitelyThis restaurant definitely deserves all of the Michelin stars it can get, certainly one of the best in the world. Service was beyond anything imaginable and the food was more than anyone could expect.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary. WonderfulExtraordinary. Wonderful dishes with amazing flavors in a beautiful restaurant served by attentive and professional wait staff. Uni over bone marrow was exquisite. Worthy of its lofty Zagat and Michelin ratings.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI did not care much for theI did not care much for the over the top waiter servvice - one waiter gave me 2 butter knives and 2 side plates to discreetly let me know I shouldn't have put the amuse bouche on the side plate. He then replaced the sharing knife when one of us used it on our plate.... The waiting staff are entirely too nervous and chi chi about good manners. However, the food was amazing. The surf and turf as an appetiser was marrow and uni, the fish was so surprisingly delicious and tasty. We had 3 different kinds and each was special. Dessert was special too - delicately sized portions with great flavour.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent special occasion placeConsistently one of the great highlight restaurants for traditional "old world" fine dining. I deducted one star for their disregard of sustainable seafood as well as the fact that the octopus was completely over salted. Whomever makes their citrus recipes knows balance and nuance, wow!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary preparation,Extraordinary preparation, presentation and taste! We had the Bernadin Tasting Menu, with 5 seafood courses and 2 dessert courses. We were particularly partial to the raw and barely warm dishes - superb combination of textures and flavors! And, the desserts were as stellar as the seafood - passion fruit "ball" with a liquid center of pure passion fruit essence was SO AMAZING! Will return soon, after having been away for a couple decades!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWell-deserved Michelin starsA memorable meal and overall experience. Food is exceptional, service is impeccable.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was an once-a-lifetimeIt was an once-a-lifetime experience to enjoy the food and service at Le Bernardin. Everything was superb and great attention to details were given by all the staffs.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMNot good cost benefit ratioThe cost benefit ratio is not good, too expensive.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of seafood heaven!LOVED everything. I am always somewhat skeptical about these very highly-rated restaurants but I was blown away. The amuse of tuna tar tar, salmon and little cup of mushroom soup were a great way to start the meal. The bread itself is amazing. We just did the normal 4 course tasting and I think it's surprisingly not over priced. The portions were larger than expected which is always nice when you are in a 3 Michelin star restaurant. I will definitely be back whenever I am in the city!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionalThis is an exceptional restaurant, as many know. The food quality is outstanding and the creativity of the choices is endless. The service is superb, however it can sometimes be a bit stuffy (and uncomfortable). The ambience is lovely in every detail, from the clean lines of the interior design, to the beautiful open space, the stunning artwork and the exquisite china. I would definitely try this restaurant again.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the bread roll. Overall,I love the bread roll. Overall, I had a very good dinning experience there.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a meal that shouldThis is a meal that should be reserved for a special event. There were way too many people tending to us, but they were totally understanding that we were riff-raff among the glitterati.3/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for a romantic dinnerWent for a romantic dinner with my husband before a play. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. Waitor's recommendations were spot on.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful room, impeccableBeautiful room, impeccable service, with creative and what must be intricate dishes that are somehow understated in presentation, yet the nuance of colors, textures and favors made for a truly remarkable meal. Thnak you.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
