Diner Reviews
  • "The Ambience is excellent. Good Steakhouse vibe. Like any restaurant its based upon the service. I use LB as place business entertainment. Have been there 5 times. 4 out of 5 I get a great waiter. The last time is was a mess. I had to have the waiter replaced."

  • "We have eaten here before and things have changed dramatically. How can a restaurant be out of an ingredient for a signature drink on their menu....that should have been a red flag. Then we went ahead and ordered their wedge salad which was a disappointment in that the blue cheese was hard to find and the bacon with on the side. They definitely have scaled back on their presentation. The finally straw was we both ordered the hamburger which arrived dried out like a hockey puck. It was a horrible experience. The only good thing was the waitess was very attentive, she was the only saving grace out of dining experience."

  • "My husband and I went here for our anniversary. It was fantastic. The food was wonderful as was the service. It was very relaxing and a place where we were able to spend time talking without being interrupted. I would recommend L.B. Steakhouse to everyone."

  • "I was almost set at going to Sundance or Alexanders (ate at their SOMA location prior but for $900 wasn't that impressed) base don reviews. After dining at 5A5 having a few nights prior anything less then amazing steak was going to fall short. Chose LB's and wasn't let down as it actually exceeded our expectations. The quality, flavor, and preparation of the beef was outstanding, so were side dishes (gratin, cream spinach) even for this steak aficionado. Even though our 48oz'r was under cooked on the NY side we split, they rectified that promptly. Staff was attentive, but not too attentive. Our waiter was great though a touch cocky on his wine knowledge. Our wine was still good but not as he described it. Would recommend this place."

  • "Awesome date night restaurant, not vegan friendly boasting of cowhide chairs and meat racks galore. It does have a beautiful presentation of food and a killer wine list."

  • "We had a wonderful experience at LB Steak House. Enjoyed our service. Steak was so yummy. Was disappointed in the spring salad. It was just a couple leaves with barely any of the goat cheese or almond slivers. For $15 you'd expect a lot more from a salad. Was told it's organically grown in Campbell. Well.....that just doesn't cut it for such a high priced salad. We mentioned it, and they took it off our bill.....so that was very good of them to take care of us. All in all, a good experience."

  • "I had a fantastic meal at LB Steak House; the quality of the food was excellent and the service second to none. Our waiter was always on hand to top up our water, make helpful suggestions and help us get the best out of our experience. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Very high quality beef but a bit too heavy handed with the salt so you miss out on the natural flavor."

  • "We were there for a farewell party. The steaks were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Most of us had the asparagus and mushrooms for the sides. Appetizers we shared the calamari and pork belly. Pork belly was insane! Service was attentive. We had small problem which was quickly resolved to our satisfaction. One of the service person refilled a wine glass with the wrong wine. When we brought this up to the manager, she offered to provide another 1/2 bottle at no charge."

  • "Took my girlfriend here for our weekly night out and wasn't impressed at all. The steaks were less than safe way quality. Her steak had so much rosemary on it that's all you could taste. Hardly a 4 star experience. I will be surprised if this place lasts. Spencer your money where it's deserved, mortons or Ruth Chris."

  • "Chef Ricci and his entire team, along with the very talented General Manager have created a perfect balance of formal and "California casual" coupled with great food and an innovative menu that is frequently refreshed. Highly recommended."

  • "Had to see what a $55 steak was all about. It was a Friday night early about 7 PM, we had reservations but probably not required at this early time. We only waited 5 minutes before being seated. The decor is nice but would not call it romantic. The food presentation and taste was excellent. I ate everything on the plate, I had the aged Victoria fillet, absolutely delicious, they had a grilled whole onion and roasted garlic cloves on the plate. so good I stole the ones off my wife's plate. The service was just okay, for a $220 meal for two, I expect our drinks wine, tea and water would be filled up regularly without having to ask on multiple occasions. I would recommend for special occasions."

  • "Came here for brunch/lunch with the family. We were surprised at how many different offerings from just steak were on the menu. Don't get me wrong, we definitely enjoyed a few great steaks, but some of the elderly family members wanted fish and they had 4-5 offerings. The front doors were open and the fresh air was welcoming even when we sat in the center of the restaurant. Stephanie our server was professional and friendly. Highlights: Bone In Filet, Ribeye, a 48 ounce PORTERHOUSE was great two of us shared it! Halibut , and Scallops, also had a Fried Chicken and Biscuit Benedict with country gravy...was great but man vs food plate! Will definitely be back, most likely for dinner next time!"

  • "I had made reservations for a party of 9 on Saturday afternoon. We got there and were seated promptly, but it took two hours for the food to arrive. Wagyu cut wasn't even Wagyu beef; they said the 12oz was a NY cut and they brought a ribeye, which looked and tasted the same as the $30 ribeye my neighbor ordered. This was garbage worse than what I would have gotten from Denny's. I asked politely if they could remake it, and ensure that it was an actual Wagyu cut; they brought me back THE SAME STEAK and said "yep, it is." I asked to see the certificate of authenticity, they said they didn't have it but they could email it to me tomorrow."

  • "I expected a lot from this place and the steak I got was thin, greasy, and poorly grilled. The service was nice but maybe because it was Sunday afternoon, it just felt like everything was a little sub-par."

  • "Myself and 5 colleagues were looking for a nice relaxing meal in a nice area. Having lived in the valley a couple of years ago, I recalled LB Steak as being a cut above the rest. We were not disappointed in any way. I just wish I hadn't been the nominated driver as the wine list looked superb :-)"

  • "Don't get me wrong. You go to a Steakhouse for a good piece of meat. LB Steak has that. But before you get to that point, the rest of the meal must deliver to justify the price tag. Appetizer calamari was tough and chewy, the salad came out way too fast as we were still struggling to eat the calamari. Then a long pause.....no meat.....still longer....ok now. I expect a well choreographed meal at this price point and LB steak just didn't deliver. Only good note....the Prime Dry Aged Rib Eye was amazing. My wife's filet was outstanding too. Just not much else. Look elsewhere."

  • "In contrast to numerous previous visits this place, where the service was efficient and friendly, this time the service was slow but what's more annoying it was non attentive. This type of restaurants HAVE to be careful to nor rely too much on their locations alone. We visited the place for a business dinner during what I would consider as a busy night, but the should plan and adjust, from the girls at the entrance to the waiter :-(... No recommendation for this visit."

  • "We spent $100 per person and would have been better off at Wood Ranch or any other $30 per person steak house. We had the calamari appetizer, it was heavily breaded, chewey and several pieces of calamari were stuck together into a variety of massive clumps. I had the dry-aged ribeye, there was no real marbeling in the steak and it was not as good as the average ribeye I get at $30 steakhouses. My guest had the bone-in large filet and had much the same experience. It was a nice, thick steak, but the texture and marbeling was not there. The potato puree had an odd sweet flavor to it and did not taste buttery at all. It was not what we expected. The macaroni and cheese was good, but not so good that I would want it next time."

  • "We went there specifically for the crab melt only to be told it is not available. However the chef would be willing to make it with the ""good crab" for $26. Disappointing experience this time. We used to live at SR and this place has been good in the past. :("

  • "We asked for a booth on open table and on arrival place was dead for Sunday brunch. We were told the booths were reserved for four people. No problem. However, one booth remained unused, other was used for two customers. Service good, food mediocre. I have had great meals here, so very disappointed. May not return."

  • "Our waiter made a great wine recommendation. However, he also sold us on their Tomahawk cut as "the best cut of meat in the restaurant, very well marbled.", so we split this monster 64 oz. steak. Unfortunately it was about 48 oz. of bone and blobby fat. Not well marbled. I would have complained, but it was not our waiter who delivered the steak, not did he stop by the table at any time to see how we were enjoying our food (or not).We have eaten at LB Steak many times, and go on special occasions (it was our wedding anniversary). This was the first time we have ever been disappointed. DON'T get the Tomahawk."

  • "But since I was wrapping up an afternoon at the spa, I made a quick lunch reservation and walked down to LB Steak. My waiter was attentive and funny, but not annoying. And my steak was so good...I almost ate the fat. Seriously it was all so tasty and not too much for lunch. This is my new after spa treat :)"

  • "The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the ambiance was great. I have been here a few times before a few years back and I do not remember the food being this terrible. For drinks, we had the Kentucky Mule which was pure sweet and sour... nothing else and the blood orange old fashioned, which was good but I thought it was strange that they threw a bunch of regular old ice cubes in the glass. The calamari was okay, but I have definitely had better. We order the beef cheek ravioli which was extremely under cooked and smelled sour. Thankfully our Rib Eye was very delicious, but it could have been more evenly cooked on both sides. Mac and Cheese and Potato Gratin were disappointing. BUT the service was FANTASTIC."

  • "This place is an upscale dining experience. The service is spot on, even when they make a mistake they truly care about your dinning experience. They have a fire place in the side room that they light for special events that really adds to the over all ambience of the restaurant. Over all a great place for that special night."

  • "My girlfriend was out of the country on Valentine's Day, so we celebrated on Sunday after she came home. Since she was out of the country for 3 weeks, she was dying for a great steak. LB came through! We both had great filet mignon's. Bruseel sprouts and potatoes were the side dishes. It was a great dinner."

  • "I've been dying to try this restaurant for some time, and the opportunity arose at the weekend. I ordered a Prime Rib Steak to be cooked medium rare. Steak arrived, pretty rare, sent it back, to be cooked medium rare, but still came back (about 2 minutes later) still waaaay too rare. Steak itself was rather sinewy and chewy in places. Wish I'd ordered a burger now. Probably won't go back - there are lots of good steak houses around this price range. Nice setting, on Santana Row, but the weather wasn't brilliant, so we had to eat indoors."

  • "We have always enjoyed going to LB Steakhouse and most likely will return. During our recent experience, the hostess was rude and unattentive. I felt so bad for our server as he had to handle a party of 12+ people along with his usual tables. This led to my table receiving poor service. Our table was also located right next to this large party of people which made our experience even worse due to their loud noise, constant picture taking and they kept changing their seats and walking around the table, in which they kept knocking into our chairs. When we received our entrees, mine was rare instead of medium as requested. My food was sent back; by the time I got it back my boyfriend had already finished his meal."

  • "LB Steak is truly a steak lovers paradise. I was raised in the Mid-West in the 60's. The beef was routinely great back then. Now, not so much. If you want to savor a fantastic steak this is one of the great places to do it. The marbling will make your eves water. I will continue to book LB Steak when I'm in the mood for one of the best steaks in town. I have enjoyed two lunch meetings at LB Steak and I plan to take personal friends here next. TAH"

  • "First time at LB Steak and really enjoyed the experience. If everything on the menu had been available it would have been better, they were out if a few sides and cuts of meets. Not cheap but the aged prime is well worth the price. Service was good and place had a good energy."

  • "We ordered the Tomahawk to share, & were disappointed that the meat was not very flavorful, & quite unlike the one we've had at another restaurant. The complimentary olive bread rolls were excellent, while the sourdough rolls were rock hard. Pork belly starter was great, but a bit too salty. Good salad that was dressed with restraint. Side of mash was lovely, while brussel sprouts were unevenly cooked. Dessert of a souffle cake was painfully sweet. My macchiatto arrived cold. Good wine list with options."
