Diner Reviews
  • "I ordered the Warm Smoked Chicken & Spinach Salad ($14.50 - smoked Petaluma chicken, Bloomsdale spinach, hard boiled egg, bacon, red onion, red peppers, sherry vinegar, feta). I asked for a LIGHTLY DRESSED salad - even told waiter I will send it back if there is too much dressing. It came out COVERED in dressing and dripping. I politely asked to have them make it with dressing on the side, since the kitchen didn't seem to understand "lightly dressed." I was told that the COULD NOT DO THAT b/c of the type of dressing. Yes - I understand how the dressing is made - however, before you pour it over the lettuce, you could PUT IT ON THE SIDE and let me put it on sparingly. Nope - not at LB Steak... I left VERY unsatisfied."

  • "Went for a birthday dinner. They were very accommodating with great service and excellent food. I'm very particular on service and found it to be an enjoyable experience."

  • "Went here to treat my dad for his 50th birthday. Made reservations the day before, and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of it. Our server was really nice, and was excellent to us. Our appetizer came out very quickly, then about 20 minutes later, our steaks came out. The steaks were amazing!! My one problem was that the fries that came with seemed to have a fishy after-taste to them, which probably meant they were cooked in the same oil as the calamari."

  • "First time here. From reservation to table waiting, smooth and nice without hassle. Bread, juice, water served. Side dishes french fries, mushrooms a little salty but yummy. 2 prime ribs good, 2 new york steak good, 2 filet migon over cooked (requested medium rare but came as medium/ medium well) Dessert delicious and really good ending to the meal. Price cheaper than Alexander Steakhouse but just need to take chance on the medium rare steak since our group had only 2 orders and they messed up 2. But the re-cook and served steaks were right exactly medium rare."

  • "This steakhouse on Santana Row is a good spot for people watching, a good steak, and wine/cocktails. The food is good quality, the service was fine, and the prices were on par with what you would expect on Santana Row for steaks. It is not as fancy as some other steakhouses we have been to, but the quality is right up there, keep in mind of course that you are in the middle of an outdoor shopping mall as well. The outdoor seating is fun because yousit between the sidewalk and the street, so on nice days you can do a lot of people watching if that is your thing."

  • "For a high priced steak house, this was a joke. My steak was about one quarter fat, a big blob right in the middle. I'm not talking about marbled fat, or fat around the edges, but right in the middle. Never again."

  • "You can show up in your Santana row shopping clothes and fit right in as well as dressing up. Not a complaint about our food! If one of your party does not eat beef the selection is limited but the chicken was delicious. Was very quiet when we arrived but noisey when we left. This is not an Alexander's but I gave it the excellent rating for what it is. We were given a gift card and probably would not have tried it otherwise but glad we did."

  • "I'm sorry to report that my husband and I shared a $48.00 Grissle (aka Prime New York Strip Steak). LB should be ashamed of themselves. I give them credit, however, as they did deduct it from the bill. We didn't go out to be "comped", we went out to have a nice dinner with friends so we'll be scratching them off our list of steak houses."

  • "Great service, reasonably decent food. The shrimp cocktail shrimp were a bit past their prime, too many on the plate for an appetizer portion and very expensive. The strawberry salad was fine, but what I really want in a salad is something more Vibrant, Fresh, Alive, Crisp, Different-from-the-usual! My husband enjoyed his steak, but the au gratin potatoes were not evenly heated through - some parts quite cool, even though it was in a piping hot cast iron pan. The wine was excellent."

  • "This restaurant was the perfect choice for us to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. The food was extremely good and the service was outstanding. The wine we ordered was very good too. It was my second time at this restaurant but I would definitely go back."

  • "We shared a special celebration with our daughter and her fiance last Saturday. I booked this reservation on Open Table and had very good success with this service. I asked for a special table and received a call to confirm the day before. The food was very good and the service was excellent! The wine list was extensive. We started with champagne before our appetizer course and ended with single malt scotch after dessert and coffee. It was truly a memorable occasion."

  • "This was our first time at LB Steak and a big disappointment! We felt we were in the "forgotten" table. It took more than 15 min for the waiter to come to the table. After we ordered drinks and appetizers, the waiter came back to get the main entree order but we were not ready. Well, it took him more than 20 minutes to return. We had to ask for bread and the bread server *never* came back. The oysters were good but the main entrees had a lot to be desired. The prime dry aged steak was not tender and had no taste. If you want a great steak - go to Alexanders and skip this place. Not worth it."

  • "Had a fantastic dinner! The service was stellar (thank you Stephanie!!) and the food was deeeelicious! They had an additional app added to the menu that evening - prosciutto wrapped figs. They were grilled and came with a goat cheese spread toast. I was skeptical but was it delicious! I got the bone in filet mignon - mellllllllllllted in my mouth. Along with the mushrooms and roasted garlic - just phenomenal. The baked potato needed some more cooking in the oven but that was the only thing that was "off". I even ordered desert - pineapple upside down cake...scrumptious! Great service, great food - expensive but a great place for a special occasion, in the mood for a terrific steak or just because. yum yum yum!"

  • "My husband and I ordered the 14 oz. Wagyu beef to share but were quite disappointed. There was too much inedible fat on it and for $140, you'd think they'd pick a better cut. Not worth the sticker price. The fries, creamed spinach, olive bread roll, and service were all good but we definitely regretted ordering the beef."

  • "Have been here before with really good experiences and this was a good trip as well... Just a couple of comments... My wife ordered her filet mignon med-well and I ordered my NY medium.. When they got to the table, it was reversed... Also would like some other dessert options... Good visit still..."

  • "Incredibly average steak, which was disappointing considering the location, ambience, and price suggested higher quality food. Steaks were over-salted and not very tender. Best part of the dinner was the pork belly appetizer."

  • "A classy place. The restaurant is very nice and i like the ambience. The food for brunch was good but I wish they offered more options. Love the seating arrangement outside."

  • "I have eaten at LB before, but was disappointed this last time. Steaks were okay, presentation terrible. Not appealing or appetizing when you the steak is only 10% of the size of your plate. For what you are paying, presentation should be set at a higher standard."

  • "The ambience was good. The server was pleasant and professional. This is a high end steakhouse with high end prices and one would expect a high end steak. The ribeye I ordered was difficult to cut, chewy and not marbled. I complained and they give me another one, no problem, the second steak was only slightly better. We also had a piece of prime rib that came cool and over spiced. I have no problem paying exceptional prices for exceptional food but there was no bang for the buck here."

  • "Have been to LB Steak numerous times, so this is not a one-off reaction. LB Steak is noticeably pricier than any other place on Santana Row, so one would expect the food to rise to a higher level. It doesn't. It isn't bad, but it doesn't justify the prices. $42 for dry-aged ribeye should get you an outstanding piece of meat, but it's pretty average -- consistently so. There are some creative menu items, but the emphasis here is on steak and on that scale it asks too much and delivers too little. Santana Row is an excellent place for pet lovers to dine with their best friends; wish this place were better."

  • "Windy, noisey, both from large groups placed close together and motorcycles revi g engines with patio doors open. We planned on an upscale dining experience yet the noise, windy atmosphere was bad. Ruined it. We moved to the back of the restaurant but it was still noisey due to the door being open. Will not go back for special occasion. Perhaps simply for a random quick bit out. "

  • "I have been at the SR location many times.. and for the last two time, i was not happy with it. On the last experience which i arranged for a birthday gathering, the waiter was not notified regarding the special requests. This is not very convenient.. the front manager/hostes had to be notified.. what is the meaning of even meaning of making requests in the first place.. this was not smooth experience ..."

  • "Well beyond your usual steakhouse, this is gourmet meat presented beautifully, with a good selection of sauces from signature house to truffle butter and chimichurri. We shared the Omaha Packers Bone in Filet, 14 oz, plenty for two, especially when accompanied by perfectly plump asparagus and wild foraged mushrooms. The Caesar salad is perfectly lemony, with just the right amount of anchovy & cheese crisps. The rolls are hot and tasty, and the wine list has a decent selection of local wines, including many Pinots. The lunch menu also features fish and shellfish, and a lovely looking asparagus soup with poached oyster, caviar, brioche crouton, crème fraîche and lemon essence that we'll try next time. Chef Thomas Ricci has set a high bar."

  • "This was the second time I have dined at LB Steak and both times the service and the food were very good. This time the noise level was very high (might have been the day and time). It was hard to have a conversation. I will be going back to LB Steak and would recommend it to friends. The Santana Row setting is great for a stroll after your meal."

  • "We had a gift card and decided to go here for our anniversary. We made reservations on Open Table. It was very easy to do and I received an email confirmation right away. Initially we were seated by the waiters station. Not an ideal location. We asked to be moved outside. It was a beautiful night and our server was super attentive. The food was outstanding!! I had the prefix menu filet. Perfectly cooked! Great experience!!"

  • "LB Steak really blew me away with how incredibly accommodating they were. While making my reservation, I asked that the corkage fee be waived in consideration of my celebrating my and my husband's birthdays. They agreed! Further, our waiter Ron was one of the best, smoothest, most amicable waiters I've ever had! He was present and attentive without being too overbearing. He responded quickly to even the most random, awkward comment and made us feel very special. The food was outstanding in its own right. Lucky for us, a special was in place for a $65 prefix menu! What a deal! And best of all, any and all leftovers were packed in paper containers (no styrofoam for this place)! Of course, I definitely plan on visiting this place again."
