  • "First and foremost, for a restaurant to bill itself as a "steakhouse" (a high end one at that, located in downtown Menlo Park, white tablecloths, hostess, uniformed waitstaff, bar, extensive wine selection, etc.) to have only one meat option that is a prime cut, that is totally unacceptable. All others are choice cut. Choice cut is what I expect at your average steakhouses ie, Black Angus, Outback, etc., certainly not at LB Steakhouse. What I did order was okay, just okay. The complimentary popovers were completely bland, too hard/crunchy on the outside, doughy and tasteless inside. Nothing about the dining experience was great or above average. Service was nice but the food was underwhelming. For these prices, it should've been awesome."

  • "It was my wife's birthday & for a special treat we went to LB for Sunday dinner. She had the Sunday Prime Rib & recieved a very generous portion. Her dinner included a salad & dessert. I had the fish with rice & the Miso sauce. We both really enjoyed our meals, the service & the great Popovers."

  • "We popped in for a quick dinner at Lb Steak, and we had a wonderful time! We started with the mussels in a curry broth, so unique and delicious! Then we each had a filet and the sides and sauces were wonderful! But my favorite part of the meal was the ah-mazing strawberry mousse!!!! Our server was great and the manager was super attentive and knowledgeable. We will be back!"

  • "The Hostess with the "Party Hat" was very strange and eccentric. The place was empty, and had requested a seat in a pretty empty section. She sat us all the way in the back staring at a wall, claiming all seats were reserved. The waiter ended up saving the day and moving us to the requested seat and providing excellent service. Worst part was the hostess decided she was worthy of sitting directly in front of us while she dined, read her newspaper ( Note to management, not correct to have employees have their evening meal with paying customers). Otherwise, the food was good, and the manager was top notch. BTW, the artsinal dessert was excellent."

  • "After a couple mediocre dinners at LB when it fist opened some buddies told me to give it a try again and it was much better! The Filet was cooked perfectly and the Ceasar is excellent. Cost was very fair, unlike some steakhouses that are gouge you at every turn LB's does not - 2 sides come with your steak. Wine list is good and well priced, definitely going back! Give it another try!"

  • "Have been to all local area steakhouses, and hands down this is the best. Sat in a cozy booth (2 benches, 2 chairs, at an angle). We had 2 Prime Ribs (Sunday only, but omg delicious!), and a bone in filet mignon. Meats were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The loaded side potato is also a must. If you still have room, try the Cookies Extreme ice cream for dessert. Literally the BEST ice cream I have ever had."

  • "LB Steak: Stick with the steak (or duck) and eat elsewhere if the place has a large party. On a Friday night we arrived at 6:35, ordered at 6:45 and didn't see food till 7:50. After nearly an hour of waiting the manager came over and apologized, saying they had a party of 40 that slowed down the kitchen. (One would hope that when they know they have a private function they might add kitchen staff to accommodate!) The servers were terrific and embarrassed by this kitchen failure. The food was great (steak) to mediocre (salmon) with unimaginative sides and typical desserts, in a noisy dining room that has the decor and decorating style of Denny's. "

  • "My Sister & I decided to visit LB Steak after hearing great reviews from a few of our friends. The food & service was amazing! Our reservation was for 7 and as soon as we checked in we were sat. We started off with the LB Caesar & the Pate', both great starters! Moved on to the main course, I had the Bone in filet which was cooked exactly the way I ordered it, My Sister had the Salmon. Even though we were pretty much full & satisfied after dinner we figured we couldn't leave without trying a dessert, we shared the Tuxedo De Creme, which we both recommend & give 2 thumbs up. Our Server was excellent & catered to our needs, David the Manager even stopped by our table to ensure everything was to our liking. We will be seeing you again soon LB!"

  • "I came in on Sunday night with my family to treat my Mom to a Birthday dinner. Our table shared some appetizers, including the incredible curry mussels. They were uniquely prepared and delicious. We all had the wonderful prime rib special, great portion of juicy beef, and I loved the baby carrots it came with. Our server was knowledgeable, but not hovering, and she gave my mom a delicious chocolate dessert with a candle. Looking forward to returning. "

  • "Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate her birthday because the reviews were solid and she loves steak. It took about 30 minutes from ordering to food served (no apps). Apparently there was a large party slowing the kitchen, which I understand as I work in a restaurant, but there was no offer of even a soup or a salad while we waited to tide us over. The only thing saving the poor service was the excellent food. My New York strip and her filet were tender and juicy with a little char on the outside. Sides were also good and the meal with a bottle of wine was very reasonable for two. Had to skip dessert because of timing, but I'd go back for the food not expecting expedient service. "

  • "Met my girlfriends here for dinner. It was wonderful! The food was perfect with something for everyone, even fried pickles! Started with pickles and pate. The chutney with the pate was amazing! They split the Caesar salad (with real anchovies!) for us. The steaks melted in your mouth. One of the girls had the risotto with vegetables. It was so creamy delicious with lots of vegetables. I had a Cosmo and let the waitress choice the vodka. It had a tangerine flavor, so good I had two! Had the Katherine Kennedy wine with dinner. It was perfect. With such a great meal we had to try the desserts and wasn't disappointed. The service was great – from the hostess to the waitress. We weren't rushed or pushed. I look forward to going back soon."

  • "I ordered the prime rib and was disappointed. It was tasty but a little chewy and one third of it was pure fat. It should have been trimmed a lot more to get rid of the excess fat before it was cooked. The baked potato was also a little small as well as the size of the wine pour. Salad and desert were fine."

  • "Delicious steaks, fabulous brunches (sadly, not every Sunday yet, but the Easter and Mother's day ones were amazing). An impressive wine and whiskey selection, and pretty reasonable prices for an upscale steakhouse. The sidewalk dining is pleasant, but it's even nicer inside. The specialty cocktails were also quite good. Well worth your time. Actually, it's probably good they don't have brunch every sunday, or I'd gain back 20 pounds. But they do have Prime Rib every Sunday (haven't tried it yet, but that will be next!)"

  • "My wife decided to try LB Steak for the first time on our 40th Anniversary. We went on Sunday evening because of wife's love of Prime Rib. We both ordered the Prime Rib special which includes a salad and in house ice cream desert. My comments follow: Salad was skimpy with overly salty dressing Salad was served by the busboy, nobody bothered to check if we wanted pepper (no salt and pepper on the table) Cooked chard served as vegetable was so salty we couldn't eat it The twice cooked potato had obvious been made days before, frozen and partially reheated, not worth eating The prime rib was cooked to our satisfaction but was overly salty on the outer edges and tough The in house ice cream was the only part of the meal that met expectations "

  • "What a wonderful meal! My friends and I dined here on Saturday night and we had a great time. We shared a variety of appetizers, our favorites being the lamb riblets and the Caesar. For entrees I had the bone in filet, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My friends shared the 14 oz ribeye. They were also very pleased with their food. Desserts were great too! Classic brûlée and chocolate pot de creme are wonderful. We'll be back! "

  • "This place looks like a high-end steak place with a bit of a cafe feel and a nice bar - and that's exactly what it is. Cocktails were tasty, the appetizer (we had the mussels) was delicious, and the steak was top-notch!"

  • "My friend and I arrived promptly at 200 on a Thursday afternoon- hardly a busy night. When we arrived, we would have been the 4th table to be occupied. Yet, it took about 10 minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted to drink some water. Then we had to flag someone to ask if we could be served drinks. The restaurant was otherwise dead. I ordered a Cesar salad (large, very good); and the filet mignon (ordered medium rare- but arrive medium well; no blood); my friend had the lamb dish, and he barely touched it- not the best endorsement. The chocolate mousse was delicious. Overall, I am somewhat disappointed. We needed a good restaurant in Menlo Park, unfortunately, this one is not as good a Marche used to be in the same locale."

  • "Food: Clams and pate appertizers were average. Our steaks (2 filets, 1 skirt steak, 1 NY strip) were all very chewy, definitely not high quality steak as I'd expect from a 'steak house'. I'd give one star for the mediocre side dishes and zero star for the steak. Service: Our server was over-eager and rubbed us the wrong way. He even tried to give me instructions how to order my steak! If the chef doesn't understand what medium-rare on a rare side of a steak should be, then he has no business working in a restaurant. Given the food and service were below average, I'd tell other friends to stay away."

  • "I advise diners to not spend their money at this establishment. The service was terrible; we didn't get our wine until we were finished with the appetizer and half way through the salads..I think we saw our server a total of two times after he took our order. The food was marginal at best, my daughter had to send her steak back twice before it was cooked to her order. My husbands ricotta gnocchi was heavy with flour and cooked too long so it was very dry, and my duck was so covered in sauce it drowned out the flavor of the duck breast. I came away with the impression that the kitchen is staffed with cooks who lack experience as well as a young indifferent wait staff."

  • "We brought friends from Maine to LB on Saturday night. Our friend Bill thoroughly enjoyed an entire tomahawk steak (something like TWO pounds of steak). The chef was very impressed and came out and thanked him! We all enjoyed the rest of our entrees and dessert too. Justin was a genial host for our meal. It was a memorable night."

At 7:00pm on a Saturday night they were out of 4 items on the menu: Bone In Filet, Prime Porterhouse, short ribs & an apple crumble dessert. For a steakhouse to run out of this many beef entrees on a Saturday made it seem like poor food management. Our waitress was very apologetic. We know it was not her fault."
