A word from Lazaranda Modern Kitchen & Tequila
Lazaranda Modern Kitchen & Tequila, offers classic and contemporary Mexican cuisine rooted in authentic flavors, giving diners the opportunity to experience the tastes and colors of modern Mexico. Lazaranda is the first U.S. venture of veteran Mexican restaurateurs Mario Letayf and Antonio Marquez. At Lazaranda, Letayf and Marquez present the true flavors of modern Mexico right here in Dallas.

"We are proud to bring Dallas the food we serve in our restaurants in Mexico. We invite you to Enjoy and Live Mexico," says Chef Marquez whose 30-year career has brought him from Paris to Los Angeles, back to his native Mexico and now to Texas.

"Authentic" is a word that is frequently used," adds Letayf, who has owned and managed restaurants in Mexico for 20 years. "Since Lazaranda serves the contemporary cuisine of Mexico. Lazaranda is truly the authentic restaurant that many others claim to be."

  • "Awesome margarita's. Service was excellent. Chips and various salsa's were wonderful. Menu items were fabulous. Will definitely go back."

  • "Had the ribeye tacos. I highly recommend. Salsa was also excellent."

  • "We went to Lazaranda in a group of 4 with a Living Social deal. I'm glad we used the deal. If we had paid menu prices for the food, we would have been extremely disappointed. Two of us had the Filet, which despite the menu description, did not look like a true filet mignon. The margaritas were only fair. The ribeye appetizer was really good. The blue crab tostadas were decent but had way too much cilantro on them. The server was very nice but service was generally slow. (I'm not sure how many tables he had, so that could have been part of it.) We probably won't be going there again."

  • "This was our first visit and we are sorry we waited so long. I'm not a fan if Tex-Mex, so I was happy to find authentic Mexican food. The crab tostadas were so good! Neither if us cared much for the chips and salsa, but I really liked the fish tacos & my boyfriend said the enchiladas with black bean sauce were great too. The patio is big and inviting - looks like a good place to meet for happy hour."

  • "This is the second time at this place and I've yet to be disappointed. The food and drinks are phenomenal with the service almost matching. Need to make reservations if you want to sit outside on the weekends at night but the inside isn't bad either, I just prefer outdoors. I had Bolo's Mahi and I would definitely recommend this scrupulous plate. Also I had a chili mango drink that was out of this world!!!"

  • "It's been hit and miss for me on this restaurant. I've been three times now and each time my experience is totally different. Portions are small but generally the food is very good. The bar service has been hit and miss and the waiters are never the same. Some have been rude and others have been nice, but none ever explain the food or give recommendations. They never explain specials. They definitely need some training for wait staff. They are not very attentive to guests in this restaurant and when I said I've been there before they all said oh "yes we remember you" when I've never met them before; I hate that. It's a good neighborhood spot, but it has never really caught on to me as a must go to spot."

  • "Lazaranda was a pleasant surprise from the first moment of entry to our departure. The experience was good enough, it's already been earmarked for a return visit. Highly eclectic menu has some familiar terms and dishes, along with many specialties that are unique (and turned out to be very tasty.) Dishes we tried were nicely presented and arrived promptly and hot (which is a big thing for moi - lukewarm entrees = no.). Pricing is reasonable for the sizes of portions as well as for the drinks we enjoyed. Service was prompt and attentive, even on a bustling Saturday night. Overall, no complaints, with a solid ability to pass on recommendations for Lazaranda as a great place to take friends for a unique and sumptuous dining experience."

  • "I can't say enough great things about the food! Shrimp cocktails, queso fundido, ceviche, it's all delicious! I will admit that the speed that your food is brought out is a little slow for me, but the food is worth it. The cheladas are the best! Every time we eat here, we only order appetizers since the portions are large and we are so stuffed that we can't eat anymore if we tried. I love to eat here!!!!!"

  • "Ceviche recommended by the bartender was some of the best I have had. Chicken Diabla was spicy, which is great since most of these dishes usually say hot but come out mild."

  • "Great food and service. Not too busy, so we didn't have to wait for a table. Steak tacos were delicious."

  • "Glad we made reservations at Lazaranda's prior to a night out Salsa dancing. Pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks. Will come back for sure and already have recommended it to multiple friends. "

  • "We tried the panela cheese the octopus al ajillo and the ceviche and everything was delicious! "

  • "Good location. Very average food and service. They messed up on our drinks twice, food seemed fast food quality with no Flavour and texture. Many other quality restaurants in the area to go to. This was our first and last visit. "

  • "Food was ordinary, not exceptional as advertised. Also, staff was attentive but very slow to serve. Last, patio was nice but very noisy (next to major highway intersection). "

  • "This was our third visit to Lazaranda. This place is popping with potential but it needs to get its act together if it is going to survive. First time we went the food and service were excellent. Second time we went the service was terrible but the food was really good. This time the service was not great and food was just so so. I hope they make it, as Lazaranda is a fresh entry in the Addison dining scene. It is kind of a Tex Mex/Mexico City/Fish place. "

  • "This was a girl's night and many of our first experience at Lazaranda and we ALL said we would be back!!! Food was glorious, staff was superb and the drink selection was fantastic. Can't wait to bring more friends here!"

  • "This is one of those spots that I go to when I want a good, creative Mexican meal at a good price. The cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced. The ceviche is outstanding and I love the cactus salad. Service can be hit or miss, but is never less than good. Give it a try!"

  • "We tried Lazaranda for the first time last Saturday night. What a treat! The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. The menu selection is quite large, so we will definitely return to try more of the delicious sounding fare! Highly recommended!"

  • "I went to Lazaranda for my birthday with a group and it was great. The food was delicious, the margaritas were strong, and the service was quick and friendly. I will definitely go back and bring others with me! It is close to several bars and would be a great place to dine on a Friday or Saturday night before going out. The menu has a lot of seafood, which is my favorite, and the Cabo Enchiladas were the best seafood enchiladas I have had since Cristinas took them off of their menu. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Loved this place! Service was really good although it was almost like they had read the reviews and were trying too hard. Food was unique and superb. We will definitely return! "

  • "Just delicious and the service was very good. The freshness and quality of the food makes the flavors more vibrant. The Pacific Ceviche, and the tilapia zarandeada were magnificent."

  • "Fantastic! Perfect combo of traditional yet modern Mexican seafood. A welcome alternative to tex-mex as well as Dallas' over-hyped modern Mexican cuisine. The ceviche and seafood specials are the best. Best octopus in Dallas! And, I've been just about everywhere it's served. Not enough (almost none) of Dallas restaurants serve whole fish. Bravo! Hopefully the octopus and whole fish will become components of the regular menu. Definitely a top spot in Dallas."

  • "The food was good, but not amazing. The service was pretty good, but we were there by 6 and it was much busier when we left."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "The crowd was great, the menu was extensive, and the food did not disappoint. Lobster tacos were delish. Cerviche was excellent as well. This was a girl's night and we will definitely be back. Enjoy!"

  • "Good food, great service. We can't wait to go back. Parking is awful so either arrive early for your reservation or valet."

  • "Just don't get the pork Osso Buco it is NOT like the Italian version. It is chewy and dry with no sauce or flavoring on a bed of beans. Ceviche was great."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "The food is always good I love the menu. But it seems that the service is still having issues. We had to wait so long for the drinks that it wasn't even enjoyable. And the server wasn't bothered by the fact that they couldn't get to us, the greeter came over and tried to help with the drinks. I don't think I will go back this seems to happen every time."
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "First time success. The food is not Tex-Mex, it is Mexican. A great change of pace! I had the Chilango Pork Osso-Bucco and my wife ordered the filet. Both were excellently prepared. The beans underlying the Osso-Bucco were a little too salty for my taste but the meat was tender and melted in my mouth. There is a wide variety of tequila's for the tequila lover. The only downside was the screaming child at the next table. Next time we will come later in the evening when the clientele changes to mostly adults. I will try a seafood dish next time. That seems to be their specialty."

  • "Lazaranda was a great Mexican restaurant in North Dallas. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The menu had both the standard Mexican dishes and some more creative dishes that you dont see everywhere else. We will be back."

  • "The food was amazing. The server told us what she thought was great on the menu and we took her advice and are very thankful we did! The food is spicy which I love. The service was incredible and they make sure you are taken care of in every aspect! I can't wait to go back!"

  • "The food at Lazaranda is very thoughtful, and quite delicious. It seems to really shine with seafood, but non-seafood items have delighted as well. I have not been for happy hour, but am looking forward to getting back to sample some of the margaritas available...."

  • "The entire management of this restaurant takes customer service to another level. They are extremely professional, courteous and acomodating. They went above and beyond to ensure that my group brunch was a success. Arturo our waiter did an exceptional job, fast drinks, amazing food, glasses always full .... Incredible dining expirience!"

  • "The food was great and our waiter Victor was great... he knew menu and made sugestions I had told him I could not eat spicy hot food and so he guided me to better items with any hot sauce on the side"

  • "We had very good time with friends. Thank you. It was our first time."
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "Good food, service can be unpredictable. Mostly we have good waiters and the ones that aren't are usually gone before we go back. Bar service has also been unpredictable. We've had awful drinks and others have been great. The bar tenders have not liked when we complained in the past and we noticed it in the drinks. I'm always cautious when ordering drinks here. I wish the place was less noisy, but we try to go at off peak times especially with the valet parking there is never parking on Friday and Saturday nights. We drove around this past weekend three times before parking across the street and walking over to the restaurant. We only did because we had a reservation or we would have left and gone elsewhere. This is a problem in Addison!"

  • "Ceviche appetizer was very good, and we shared it. My tortilla soup did not taste right so I sent it back - no questions asked and they took it off my bill. Our entrees were very good - I had the scallops and my husband had one of the chicken dishes."
    Dined on 12/13/2013
  • "Refreshing change from the typical Tex-Mex fare. Fried fish on a bed of mashed potatoes appetizer is really good."
    Dined on 11/3/2013
  • "A rather unusual menu although we did enjoy what we ordered. The waiter warned us the Tortilla Soup was not the usual fare and a member of our party still ordered it but was unable to eat it. After leaving we discussed the meal and we all had the same experience. Our meals were tasty but none of them were hot or even very warm which did hinder the experience. We each said we should have sent the meal back but didn't want to make a fuss."

  • "Food and service were both great! We were a party full of picky eaters, and the staff was gracious enough to make certain our food was prepared as ordered and provided our somewhat large party with separate checks at a moments notice. Noise level and was not over-bearing, and the tables were far enough apart that we did not feel crowded even though the restaurant was full. Dishes and wine were very reasonably priced as well. Our group of friends dines out often and we will be going here again."
