A word from Lazaranda Modern Kitchen & Tequila
Lazaranda Modern Kitchen & Tequila, offers classic and contemporary Mexican cuisine rooted in authentic flavors, giving diners the opportunity to experience the tastes and colors of modern Mexico. Lazaranda is the first U.S. venture of veteran Mexican restaurateurs Mario Letayf and Antonio Marquez. At Lazaranda, Letayf and Marquez present the true flavors of modern Mexico right here in Dallas.

"We are proud to bring Dallas the food we serve in our restaurants in Mexico. We invite you to Enjoy and Live Mexico," says Chef Marquez whose 30-year career has brought him from Paris to Los Angeles, back to his native Mexico and now to Texas.

"Authentic" is a word that is frequently used," adds Letayf, who has owned and managed restaurants in Mexico for 20 years. "Since Lazaranda serves the contemporary cuisine of Mexico. Lazaranda is truly the authentic restaurant that many others claim to be."

As our group all grew up in Mexico City, we were encouraged by Lazaranda's menu. When we ordered our drinks the fun started, the waiter seemend easily confused and took about 10 minutes to get back to us with drinks and 2 out of the 5 were wrong. His knowledge of the menu also seemed very limited. Further I could see the manager in front of us, but not once did he come and ask how we were doing (and I had to go searching for our waiter on 2 occasions). Once the food arrived, the reviews were mixed. The arrachera tacos were excellent, but the ceviche my GF had was iffy (so she didn't finish it) and my mahi mahi (Dorado in Mexico) was good but nothing I would recommend. Cajeta Crepes for dessert needed more ..Cajeta!

Hadcrab tostadas, grilled panela, beet salad and rib-eye tacos. The rib-eye was our least favorite but it could have been because we were already full! Ultimate Margarita was served with a rim of citrusy salt. My husband got the sangrita cocktail and it was delicious! We will definitely go back!

The food was good and the average price was about 18$ a person per meal. The music was kind of loud and didn't match the atmosphere. The lights were dim but nice. Waiter was prompt and very helpful.

Just average. Food good. Annoying g customers letting 3 kids run about the restaurant. They ruined the nice family vibe. Servers need to know difference between chilling white wine and red wine. Food was very good.

With 90 tequilas available, this is a great place to go for an outstanding margarita. The food and service are good (good quality, tasty, but not remarkable), the chips are fresh and the salsa decently hot. You won't regret having dinner here, but the drinks are what set it apart.

We went for the Restaurant Week menu which was fab. Delicious food, well worth the price. But for some reason, even though I specifically checked in as an Open Table customer, they elected to report me as a "no-show". Most frustrating. Is there an app for that?

There are no categories in #2 that adequately describe how I would recommend this restaurant. Our evening there was simply outstanding - beginning to end. The waiter was excellent, friendly, happy to be there and appropriately attentive (not too much, not too little). The food was all so very delicious. The atmosphere was perfect - a very nice casual place to dine, as well as a great place to enjoy time spent with our friends. Overall, just a fabulous dining experience!

Margaritas made with fresh lime juice. Happy Hour price $4 per house margarita. Fresh guacamole very tasty. Many tasty dishes with fish, shellfish, especially appetizers and soup. You can eat healthy or you can indulge, but if you eat healthy, it is still a tasty meal to remember. Decor is upscale, tasteful. Much nicer than most "mexican" restaurants. Service is attentive, but not intrusive. We have been here many times. Food always quite good.

We went to Lazaranda in a group of 4 with a Living Social deal. I'm glad we used the deal. If we had paid menu prices for the food, we would have been extremely disappointed. Two of us had the Filet, which despite the menu description, did not look like a true filet mignon. The margaritas were only fair. The ribeye appetizer was really good. The blue crab tostadas were decent but had way too much cilantro on them. The server was very nice but service was generally slow. (I'm not sure how many tables he had, so that could have been part of it.) We probably won't be going there again.

This was our first visit and we are sorry we waited so long. I'm not a fan if Tex-Mex, so I was happy to find authentic Mexican food. The crab tostadas were so good! Neither if us cared much for the chips and salsa, but I really liked the fish tacos & my boyfriend said the enchiladas with black bean sauce were great too. The patio is big and inviting - looks like a good place to meet for happy hour.

This is the second time at this place and I've yet to be disappointed. The food and drinks are phenomenal with the service almost matching. Need to make reservations if you want to sit outside on the weekends at night but the inside isn't bad either, I just prefer outdoors. I had Bolo's Mahi and I would definitely recommend this scrupulous plate. Also I had a chili mango drink that was out of this world!!!

It's been hit and miss for me on this restaurant. I've been three times now and each time my experience is totally different. Portions are small but generally the food is very good. The bar service has been hit and miss and the waiters are never the same. Some have been rude and others have been nice, but none ever explain the food or give recommendations. They never explain specials. They definitely need some training for wait staff. They are not very attentive to guests in this restaurant and when I said I've been there before they all said oh "yes we remember you" when I've never met them before; I hate that. It's a good neighborhood spot, but it has never really caught on to me as a must go to spot.

Lazaranda was a pleasant surprise from the first moment of entry to our departure. The experience was good enough, it's already been earmarked for a return visit. Highly eclectic menu has some familiar terms and dishes, along with many specialties that are unique (and turned out to be very tasty.) Dishes we tried were nicely presented and arrived promptly and hot (which is a big thing for moi - lukewarm entrees = no.). Pricing is reasonable for the sizes of portions as well as for the drinks we enjoyed. Service was prompt and attentive, even on a bustling Saturday night. Overall, no complaints, with a solid ability to pass on recommendations for Lazaranda as a great place to take friends for a unique and sumptuous dining experience.

I can't say enough great things about the food! Shrimp cocktails, queso fundido, ceviche, it's all delicious! I will admit that the speed that your food is brought out is a little slow for me, but the food is worth it. The cheladas are the best! Every time we eat here, we only order appetizers since the portions are large and we are so stuffed that we can't eat anymore if we tried. I love to eat here!!!!!

This was our third visit to Lazaranda. This place is popping with potential but it needs to get its act together if it is going to survive. First time we went the food and service were excellent. Second time we went the service was terrible but the food was really good. This time the service was not great and food was just so so. I hope they make it, as Lazaranda is a fresh entry in the Addison dining scene. It is kind of a Tex Mex/Mexico City/Fish place.

I went to Lazaranda for my birthday with a group and it was great. The food was delicious, the margaritas were strong, and the service was quick and friendly. I will definitely go back and bring others with me! It is close to several bars and would be a great place to dine on a Friday or Saturday night before going out. The menu has a lot of seafood, which is my favorite, and the Cabo Enchiladas were the best seafood enchiladas I have had since Cristinas took them off of their menu. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Fantastic! Perfect combo of traditional yet modern Mexican seafood. A welcome alternative to tex-mex as well as Dallas' over-hyped modern Mexican cuisine. The ceviche and seafood specials are the best. Best octopus in Dallas! And, I've been just about everywhere it's served. Not enough (almost none) of Dallas restaurants serve whole fish. Bravo! Hopefully the octopus and whole fish will become components of the regular menu. Definitely a top spot in Dallas.

First time success. The food is not Tex-Mex, it is Mexican. A great change of pace! I had the Chilango Pork Osso-Bucco and my wife ordered the filet. Both were excellently prepared. The beans underlying the Osso-Bucco were a little too salty for my taste but the meat was tender and melted in my mouth. There is a wide variety of tequila's for the tequila lover. The only downside was the screaming child at the next table. Next time we will come later in the evening when the clientele changes to mostly adults. I will try a seafood dish next time. That seems to be their specialty.
